Update 01/03/10:
It has been noted that campaigners have been having some problems with regard the one large e mail listing originally provided.
We have been in contact with the originator of this listing and we can confirm that there should not be any problems with the addresses given; all have been checked and are ok.
But there may be a problem if all are copied en masse and sent in just one block. So what will be seen below now is that the one original block listing has been divided into three blocks.
It is a little more work on your part, but now it is asked if the sample letter can be sent out three times; in accordance with the addresses in each block below.
It is hoped that this will make life easier and that all the mails will be delived without any comeback or failure errors. If there are still failures, then at least the problem addresses can be traced down to one address or some of those in (any one of) the smaller blocks which make up the three.
This three block mail route has been checked out as a trial today (01/03) and there have not been any problems. It is hoped that you do not encounter any.
Please send a copy of the sample letter to all the addresses given in each of the three block listings below.
It is hoped this will stop any error messages being returned to sender.

Dear Madame or Sir,
You are representing your country and its interests abroad. I think you might feel concerned about a serious topic which throws a negative light on Italy.
The disastrous situation in regard to abandoned dogs in the so called “canile” makes me and many people around me think twice about going on holiday to Italy, even to buy any Italian products. There is no doubt that the terrible and disgusting so called “concentration camps” for dogs is bound to profit from thirst for money.
Catching dogs and keeping them in terrible conditions bring millions to some people who pursue this bloody business in collaboration with local politicians.
Why does Italy not spend that money on neutering or sterilization of dogs so as to stop their uncontrolled breeding ?
Any normal human being who has seen the cruelty of Italian dogs in these places can never again feel at comfort while travelling to Italy or buying Italian products.
Who would be able to still enjoy a holiday in Italy or take pleasure on eating Italian dishes and drinking Italian wine while having knowledge of incredible pain and sorrow which dogs in canile must endure?! The only fault of these dogs is to have been born as dogs in Italy – a country that apparently does not care at all for animals.
Italy, the land of Christianity, the residence of the Pope, the land of Canile! Canile, where unbearable suffering of dogs feeds the ever growing greed for money.
It is hard to believe that those beautiful Italian people with their beautiful culture, beautiful music and beautiful seaside, who go on Sundays to their beautiful churches and send their prayers to God are treating their dogs in a way that even an animal itself would not do.
More and more people realize what is going on and there will be accountability sooner or later. And there is no way to completely hide this hell no matter how many people are involved.
They keep the gates of canile shut for visitors, they employ foreigners who fear for their jobs, they drive away animal helpers from abroad.
I myself, am determined not to travel to Italy or to buy anything it comes from Italy until canile is replaced by animal shelters where dogs are treated well. Until then I will certainly do everything I can to let as many people as possible know what is going on in “bella Italia”.
So, if you really want to make a difference, then do it right now!

I never cease to be amazed at humans and their cruelty. I know I won’t be purchasing any products that are made and or imported from Italy if I can avoid it!
Gentlemen: Those poor dogs!!!! Italy is the land of the
FURBOS. I lived 5 years and was married to one. They dont think about animals like U.S.A. when it concerns to their own pets. For example…they feel the animals live outside their homes…in their yard.
However, I must say that in those 5 years I never saw
the horrorible pictures as shown in this web page.
What are FURBOS…..a FURBO Person is one that
thinks and tries to get away with something that is done by them.
To foreigners they think all is beautiful…in Italy.,

OMG, this is the worst I’ve ever seen. These people should be given the same punishment and then put down. What I’m feeling right now I cannot express in an email. These people are evil, sick monsters who did these things. Anyone who knew this was happening and didn’t report them are just as bad. I will never travel, buy or have anything to do with anything from Italy.
I have been to Italy many times and I will very often purchase products produced there, but I will not visit or purchase anything that is related to Italy until this kind of inhumane and barbaric treatment is stopped towards innocent animals. OMG!

The atrocious situation and torture of the captured dogs kept in inhuman conditions in cages in the so called “canile” would make anyone sick to their stomach.
Whatever the reasons for this kind of treatment of those poor animals, it is beyond anybody’s comprehension that such a thing should be happening in a highly civilized society like Italy.
Would it not be possible to neuter or sterilize the poor dogs so as to stop their uncontrolled breeding ? It would be a good thing to educate the people about the responsibilities involved in owning a pet and tax them, if they like to abandon pets.
Any normal human being who has seen the cruelty of Italian dogs in these places can never again feel comfortable enough to visit Italy or buying Italian products.
The images of such cruelty towards animals circulating on the Internet will make people think negatively about Italy. It will tarnish the image of all Italian people, and their culture.

Today I read an article detailing horrid animal abuses made by Italy against their abandoned canines. I was made aware of a government is funded dog compound called Canile.
Having viewed some truly disturbing photographs of the state in which these animals are being kept, I found myself both shocked and sickened.
I have visited Italy myself and found your sense of family inspiring, and your rich; ancient and diverse culture intoxicating. However, I now find myself wondering how such a great country can treat its animals so terribly.
Italy, the land of Christianity?
Pope John Paul II was quoted as saying:
“A society will be judged on the basis of how it treats its weakest members, and among the most vulnerable are surely the unborn and the dying,”
Are animals indeed not the weakest?
Their life, death and unspeakable suffering is dictated by the human race.
These dogs originated as pets bred. Sold and owned by the Italian population. It is a lack in your legislation that has led to a crisis of abandoned animals.
The people that originally made money from the breeding and sale and abandonment of these unwanted animals should be penalised, with the money allocated to funding both the animal shelters and animal neutering and spaying, in order to alleviate such situations arising in the future.
However, the situation of needless animal suffering must be remedied with immediate effect, and you must do this publicly in order to assure people all over the world (such as myself) that the matter has been resolved and that people can resume both visiting your country and purchase products made in Italy.
The world IS holding you accountable for this horrific animal abuse.
I personally will not visit your country again and will boycott any and all produce from Italy until this matter is resolved. Furthermore, I will urge all family members, friends, associates and businesses to do the same.
