Dear all,

A friend of mine runs a small UK charity called ‘Disabled Dog Rescue’ and where possible she rehomes special needs dogs here in England.  However she’s currently looking for a home (or a foundation that might be able to help find a home) for a lovely young boy called ‘Chance’ from Romania.

Kerry’s description of Chance is below.  He has a passport ready to travel to Austria, Germany, Holland, Belgium etc. – just not the UK as he hasn’t been blood-tested

We do have a space on the transport run leaving Romania on the 22nd March, the same transport run that Fluffy will be part of (who some of you already know).

We would dearly love to find Chance a safe place before then so that he too can have this opportunity of a new life.  He copes very well with his disabilities, here is a very short video sent to us by the lady at the shelter where Chance currently lives (there are two links to the same video as sometimes Facebook links do not work):-

If anyone knows or a good home, can offer a rescue place and/or can crossport this appeal for Kerry and myself we’d be extremely grateful.

Chance is a 10 month old male who is a double amputee. He was involved in 2 separate traffic accidents and as a result has had one front and one back leg amputated (same side), but it doesn’t stop him at all! He is a happy, playful dog in every way. I purchased him a cart to help him to walk but in the end he has proved that he can manage better on his own. The terrain in the shelter is very uneven which may have been a factor in the failure of his cart so if he goes to a home and it is decided that he would benefit from a cart to aid his mobility one will be purchased for him. He is good with people and other dogs although not cat tested. He is just a lovely normal dog who happens to have lost 2 of his legs and wants nothing more than a home to call his own x

Things Now Looking Very Good for ‘Fluffy’ and the Romanian Dogs and Cats – Further Update 11/02/11

‘FLUFFY’

A COUPLE OF THE ROMANIAN DOGS

The latest news on the situation for both ‘Fluffy’ and for the Romanian dogs and cats who were left after the death of their owner IS VERY PROMISING ON BOTH ASPECTS !

SAV have been working directly with other European animal welfare organisers (who help Romanian animals) to find new homes for the animals across Europe; and we think that there will be some excellent final news and results in the very near future.

Obviously, we will be keeping you informed of the results; but this is just a line to say that things are moving on at pace, and that the future for all the animals is looking very, very positive.

URGENT APPEAL

To find new homes within Europe for animals abandoned due to the death of a person in Romania.  The words are given below directly as they were e mailed to SAV.

Welfare groups and individuals in Europe, are you able to help here ?

Thanks – SAV.

———————————————–

Mark,

I am so sorry to ask for your help again so soon after Fluffy but this is very urgent!  I

Both Nancy from Romania Animal Rescue and myself have been contacted by a lady in Romania who knows of 20 adult dogs and around 11 small puppies plus 3 cats that have been abandoned in the grounds of an old house where the owner has very recently died.

Early reports are that none are neutered, chipped or vaccinated and we do not know their general health condition but we have been told that although some are nervous, none are aggressive.  The lady is trying to feed them as best she can but the nephew who will now take over the house wants them all gone within 3 weeks or he will either release them to fend for themselves or instruct city hall to send in the dog catchers and take them to the city pound.  Either way they will surely die.

We have a vet going to assess them all this week and if possible neuter them (…aside any nursing bitches) and we can also have their passports started.

There is absolutely no chance of these dogs being adopted in Romania, their only hope is outside help!

We do however have transport solutions to have them bought into Austria, Germany or Holland if we can find rescue groups that might each take a few.

These transport vehicles can accommodate around 15 dogs/cats at a time and we have up to 3 of them so all we need are the right collaborations.

Here is a link to a photo album of the dogs and attached are some images of the cats, one of which is cuddling up with some of the puppies.

I know it’s a big ask but it’s worth a shot right?

Chrissy

If you can help; please contact Chrissy directly at

chrissy@romaniaanimalaid.co.uk

Important note –

British quarantine laws would not allow these animals to come directly into the Uk and go to new homes without first speding 6 months in quarantine; hence the push more for homes in Austria, Germany and Holland if possible, where this is not necessary.

Uk / Romania: 05/02/11 – UPDATE On the Appeal to Find a New Home for ‘Fluffy’ – Great News !

Many of our regular visitors to this site will know about our recent post relating to ‘Fluffy’, the little disabled dog who is currently living in a Romanian shelter but who desperately requires a permanent loving home elsewhere in Europe.

The link to our previous post on Fluffy, including some photographs, can be viewed at:

https://serbiananimalsvoice.wordpress.com/2011/01/28/uk-romania-special-appeal-to-find-a-new-forever-permanent-loving-home-for-fluffy-a-disabled-dog-currently-living-a-poor-life-in-romania-can-you-help/

Well, the latest situation is that there has been a fantastic response to the appeal to find Fluffy a new home.  We can safely say that it is now just a short matter of time before Fluffy goes off to a permanent, loving new home somewhere else in Europe.

Chrissy, who is here in the UK acting for ‘Romania Animal Aid’ and organising Fluffy’s rehoming; has been in very regular contact with us since the appeal started and is at this very moment spending (lots of) time reviewing all of the offers which have come forward.

A full health check on Fluffy is also currently in progress in Romania in order that everything is up-to-date and satisfactory for the re-homing in the very near future.

Chrissy informs us that she has been overwhelmed by the kindness that people have shown.  This week, Chrissy has also re-homed two other disabled dogs from Romania; one going to live in the Netherlands and the other in Germany.“It has been a great week” says Chrissy.  “I have a kind lady willing to pay for Fluffys cart and others happy to pay towards his transport, so we are slowly getting there!”

“I will update everybody once I have heard back from the ladies in Pascani, Romania”.

Chrissy also regularly takes out food and bedding to 3 shelters in Romania from the Uk.

And so, once a final location for Fluffy’s new home has been decided on, via Chrissy, we will be able to provide further updates and information relating to this great little bit of animal welfare team work across Europe. I would especially like to thank Lesley at ‘Eyes on Animals’ in the Netherlands for her help in putting out the word about Fluffy to all her contacts.  Special thanks go to everyone who responded to us all offering either a home or providing further contact details for Fluffy

Please visit the ‘Eyes on Animals’ site at:  http://eyesonanimals.com/

Normally, our work (Mark and Eyes on Animals) specifically involves live animal transport investigations, but we are very, very happy to be involved with this project to find a new home for ‘Fluffy’; especially as the results to date have been so positive.

So in the next few weeks we hope to be able to provide more information and hopefully some new photographs of Fluffy relocated and settling into his new, forever home.

Chrissy is always looking for new homes for animals that are currently living in Romania, and as such, she will be keeping contact details of everybody who has kindly helped (with Fluffy) with the hope that lots more new homes can be found in the future for these other animals.

So really great news so far; lets just hope things continue this way now for Fluffy’s relocation.

Thanks and regards

Mark – SAV.
