As you may know, the ban for wild animals in circuses was again blocked last week by Conservative MP Christopher Chope. He did the same in 2014.

Please write to your MP as this is again being discussed in Parliament on 24th March.

Here are some details of the man who has twice blocked this bill:

Christopher Chope represents Christchurch in Dorset for 20 years with a majority of 18000 and his constituency has the highest proportion of over 60s in the UK.

Filibustering should be banned in Parliament – A deliberate tactic to talk too long and thus selfishly, arrogantly and bullyingly talking out a motion that can then not be voted on.

Christopher Chope also blocked this bill in 2014. He was also responsible for steering through the poll tax in the Thatcher Government, voted against same sex marriage, is a climate change sceptic, called for abolition of Minimum wage in the same year he claimed £136,992 in expenses! and voted against Alan Turin statutory pardon. Voted against a private members’ bill which would have placed restrictions on hospital parking charges for carers. SHAMEFUL!

Here is a letter that one of ADI’s supporters received from Chope – his arrogance is beyond belief !

“Parliamentary protocol dictates that Members ought not to respond to correspondence from non-constituents. Nonetheless, I appreciate the time you have taken to get in touch.

The Government has promised to bring forward Government legislation on the issue of animals in circuses. It was not included in the Queen’s Speech on the grounds that there was a lack of Parliamentary time. The Government has pointed out, however, that, should more time become available during the course of this Session, such a Bill will be brought forward.

In light of the above, the attempt to bring forward this controversial legislation under the Private Member’s procedure is ill-conceived. I believe that it would be unacceptable for such a Bill to receive a Second Reading without any debate in the House of Commons.

I shall continue to put pressure on the Government to honour its promise to bring forward its own legislation.

More than 10 years ago there was a public consultation on the use of animals in UK circuses.

Over 84% of the British public wanted circuses to stop using animals in performances. Thanks to people like Chope we have still not got legislation passed to do this – constant talking out in parliament by just a few members of Parliament. Shame on them !

They are supposed to represent us – not be an emperor figure like Trump who only does what he wants !

Goal: Reverse your decision to slaughter coyotes.

Recently, the Arcadia City Council voted to hire a contractor to kill coyotes as a means of population control. This slaughter is cruel, ineffective and must be stopped.

The current plan would call for the contractor to trap and then kill numerous coyotes. Trapping is an extremely cruel and stressful situation for wild animals, which in this case is then followed by a brutal execution. It can also catch non-targeted animals including protected wildlife. Animals have been known to chew off limbs in order to escape traps. This trap and slaughter practice often leads to orphaned wildlife which is typically a death sentence for these animals, as well.

Sign this petition and demand the City of Arcadia spare these innocent animals’ lives. This is not only incredible cruel, but research has shown that mass killings are not an effective method of population control.

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill to strip protections from wolves, bears and other carnivores on Alaska’s precious wildlife refuges.

If approved, it would allow wolves and pups to be killed in their dens; bears could be shot by aerial gunners or have their bones snapped in brutal traps.

Please support the Center for Biological Diversity’s Predator Defense Fund to shut down this disgraceful bill.

Now we are hearing of proposed drastic cuts in the EPA’s budget—such large cuts that the Agency’s vital work would undoubtedly suffer.

I shudder to think what comes next…

President Trump stepped up his attack on federal environmental protections Tuesday, issuing an order directing his administration to begin the long process of rolling back sweeping clean water rules that were enacted by his predecessor.

The order directing the Environmental Protection Agency to set about dismantling the Waters of the United States rule takes aim at one of President Obama’s signature environmental legacies, a far-reaching anti-pollution effort that expanded the authority of regulators over the nation’s waterways.

The contentious rule had been fought for years by farmers, ranchers, real estate developers and other industries, which complained it invited heavy-handed bureaucrats to burden their businesses with onerous restrictions and fines for minor violations.

Obama’s EPA argued that such claims were exaggerated and misrepresented the realities of the enforcement process of a rule that promised to create substantially cleaner waterways and with them, healthier habitats for threatened species of wildlife.

The directive to undo the clean water initiative is expected to be closely followed by another aimed at unraveling the Obama administration’s ambitious plan to fight climate change by curbing power plant emissions.

“It is such a horrible, horrible rule,” Trump said as he signed the directive Tuesday aimed at the water rules. “It has such a nice name, but everything about it is bad.” He declared the rule, championed by environmental groups to give the EPA broad authority over nearly two-thirds of the water bodies in the nation, “one of the worst examples of federal regulation” and “a massive power grab.”

While the executive orders are a clear sign of the new administration’s distaste for some of the highest profile federal environmental rules, they also reflect the challenge it faces in erasing them. Both the climate and the clean water rules were enacted only after a long and tedious process of public hearings, scientific analysis and bureaucratic review. That entire process must be revisited before they can be weakened. It could take years.

And environmental groups will be mobilized to fight every step of the way. “These wetland protections help ensure that over 100 million Americans have access to clean and safe drinking water,” California billionaire climate activist Tom Steyer said in a statement. “Access to safe drinking water is a human right, and Trump’s order is a direct violation of this right.”

The executive orders are compounded by the administration’s release of a budget blueprint that includes deep cuts at the EPA. Even if the process of changing the environmental rules is slow, the Trump administration will aim to hasten their demise by hollowing out the agencies charged with enforcing them.

At the same time, it is working with Congress to immediately kill some environmental protections under an obscure authority that applies to regulations enacted within the final months of the previous administration. A rule intended to limit water pollution from coal mining has already been killed by Congress, which is now weighing whether to jettison rules that force gas drilling operations on federal land to capture more of the toxic methane they emit.

Trump vowed Tuesday that he would continue to undermine the Obama-era environmental protections wherever he sees the opportunity, arguing they have cost jobs. “So many jobs we have delayed for so many years,” Trump said. “It is unfair to everybody.”

Many industries take issue with that interpretation. Tuesday’s order, for example, was met with a swift rebuke from sport fishing and hunting groups. They said the clean water rule has been a boon to the economy, sustaining hundreds of thousands of jobs in their industry.

“Sportsmen and women will do everything within their power to compel the administration to change course and to use the Clean Water Act to improve, not worsen, the nation’s waterways,” a statement from a half-dozen of the organizations said.

Nominierung des Deckelprojekts in der SZ / Mitmachen lohnt sich.

Hallo Frau Jarolimeck,

Es gibt allerdings tolle Nachrichten für das Projekt Deckel gegen Polio!

Vielleicht haben Sie es heute in der Zeitung gelesen: Unser Projekt in der Schule “Deckel gegen Polio” wurde nominiert als Saarlands Beste. Damit wir den Preis gewinnen können, müssen so viele Einzelpersonen wie möglich für uns in der Zeitung abstimmen.

Sollten wir von allen Einsendungen bis zum 2. März die meisten Stimmen haben, wird das Projekt auf der Gala-Veranstaltung Saarlands Beste noch einmal vollständig präsentiert und in unserem Fall gewinnt meine Schulklasse dann einen kräftigen Zuschuss für die Schule.

Ich würde mich sehr freuen, wenn Sie ebenfalls für unser gemeinsames Projekt abstimmen und Ihre Kontakte zu allen anderen Sammelgruppen aktivieren würden, so dass auch bundesweit Menschen für unser Deckelprojekt abstimmen. Wir wissen, dass die Kinder Großes geleistet haben und nun ist es an der Zeit, das Projekt noch einmal öffentlich zu machen und Menschen zum Deckelsammeln zu bewegen.

Sie haben sicherlich zahlreiche Unterstützer und Bekannte, die mit einem einzigen Anruf oder einer Online-Abstimmung dazu beitragen können, dass Deckel gegen Polio noch einmal im Saarland und auch auf Bundesebene zu die Presse geht. Wir stehen für diesen Monat in der Saarbrücker Zeitung als eine von drei Gruppen zur Wahl und freuen uns, dass wir es unter den vielfältigen Gruppen bis hier hin geschafft haben 🙂 !!

Liebe Freunde der Tiere,

„Nie wird soviel gelogen wie nach einer Jagd, im Krieg und vor Wahlen.“ Dieses Zitat Ottos von Bismarck ist hinlänglich bekannt. Was der Staatsmann und Reichskanzler schon vor mehr als 100 Jahren erkannte, ist jedoch auch nur ein Teil der Wahrheit: Nicht nur nach der Jagd wird gelogen, sondern schon vor der Jagd oder besser gesagt, die Rechtfertigung für die Jagd basiert auf Lügen! So beginnt beispielsweise jede Jagdsaison mit den alljährlich wiederkehrenden Zeitungsmeldungen, die eine dramatische Wildschweinschwemme verkünden. Nach Dezimierung wird geschrien und somit haben die Jäger die Rechtfertigung für ihre Schießorgien. Dass die Jäger eigentlich die Ursache des Problems sind, wird tunlichst verschwiegen. Erst durch die Jagdpraktiken steigen nämlich die Populationszahlen. Dies ist nur eine der Jägerlügen, zehn davon haben wir in unserem seit Jahren bewährten Informations-Flyer „Jägerlügen“ zusammengefasst (http://www.gegensicht.de/images/flyer/flyer_jaegerluegen_www.pdf). Um über dieses „Lügenkonstrukt Jagd“ zu informieren, haben wir seit einigen Jahren zusammen mit unseren Kollegen und Freunden von der Anti-Jagd-Allianz (www.anti-jad-allianz.de) einen Infostand auf der Frühjahrsmesse Kassel. Bei den vergangenen Messeauftritten haben wir festgestellt, dass Jagd in der Bevölkerung immer öfter kritisch gesehen wird und Jäger zunehmend als Außenseiter mit einem abseitigen Hobby wahrgenommen werden. Gerade Personen, die sich oft und regelmäßig in der Natur bewegen, können über unterschiedlichste und teils unangenehme Begegnungen mit Jägern berichten. So erzählen uns an dem Infostand immer wieder Hundebesitzer, dass sie auf Gassitouren mehr oder weniger freundlich von Jäger angegangen werden und wie Jäger sich gerne als „Herrscher über die Natur“ aufspielen. Sätze wie: „Wenn ich Ihren Hund nochmal ohne Leine sehe, kann es passieren, dass ich ihn erschieße“ sind keine Seltenheit. Zwischen Reitern und Jägern kommt es ebenfalls zu Konflikten. Viele Betroffene lassen sich durch solche Aktionen einschüchtern und nehmen nicht ihre Rechte wahr. Und um auf die „Jägerlügen“ zurückzukommen: Der oben erwähnte Flyer ist einer der beliebtesten in unserem Sortiment: Die Erkenntniswilligen gelangen durch die Lektüre zu einem Aha-Erlebnis und wir kommen oftmals ins Gespräch, die lodengrünen Leser fühlen sich jedoch angegriffen und entlarven ihre Gesinnung durch Beschimpfung gegen uns.

So haben wir uns entschlossen, auch dieses Jahr wieder bei der Frühjahrsmesse in Kassel präsent zu sein.

Vom 4. bis 12. März 2017 sind wir in Halle 13, Stand 1306 zu finden.

Auch dieses Jahr stehen wieder drei große und emotionale Themen im Vordergrund: Der Haustierabschuss, die Auslandsjagd und die Fallenjagd. Wir wissen, dass dieser Messeauftritt letztendlich ein Tropfen auf den heißen Stein ist. Wir erreichen damit regional nur einen kleinen Personenkreis. Aber wir erfahren auch immer wieder, dass unsere Anwesenheit und die von uns verbreiteten Informationen zu Diskussionen weit über die Messe hinaus führen. Das spornt uns an, auch dieses Jahr wieder 9 Tage präsent zu sein und im Bezug auf die Jagd gegen das postfaktische Zeitalter zu kämpfen.

EUROPEAN Union (EU) bosses needs to abandon their “arrogance” and stop talking about Brexit in a negative way otherwise Denmark could be the next to leave the bloc, a leading Danish MEP has warned.

Anders Vistisen said the union risks being “overshadowed and left behind” if it continues to hit out at the UK for voting to leave.

The Vice Chair of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, took a swipe at the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Guy “Mr Brexit” Verhofstadt who called Theresa May’s pledge to deliver a new EU trade deal by 2019 “impossible”.

He warned if the EU does not “appreciate and work constructively with the UK’s objectives” it risks being overcome by popular discontent and “Denmark could well be the next country to leave the bloc”.

Writing on Brexit Central, he said: “Dozens of countries have already been lining up to do free trade deals with Britain.

“In order to avoid being overshadowed and left behind, the European Union should stop talking about Brexit in a negative and defensive way.

“It is high time that it abandons its arrogance and faces the reality as it is, not as it wishes it to be.

“I believe that the EU has to make every effort to negotiate a good and fair trade deal with the UK.

“The EU has to become fully aware of the fact that a good trade deal is beneficial – not only to the UK, but also to all EU Member States.”

The Danish People’s Party MEP added the UK will “stay part of Europe, whether the EU likes it or not” so cutting historical, military and economic ties would “simply be catastrophic for both players”.

He said an ongoing battles over trade and more would have “no winners” which is why the EU needs to make “every effort” to ensure there is mutual satisfaction.

The UK should be able to buy itself into schemes beneficial to both sides, such as the Erasmus student exchange programme, although he admitted the UK Government has to take that decision as well.

With regards to Denmark, he said its trade relationship with the UK is “important” and the two countries are closely linked.

Mr Vistisen said it is in the interest of Denmark’s agricultural sector to retain tariff-free access to the UK market, especially in terms of fishing as he said it is “vital” Danish fisherman have continued access to British waters.

He also added Britain is a “close strategic and military NATO ally of the EU” and he sincerely hopes Brexit will not affect “this crucial and close military co-operation”.

Here are some details of the man who has twice blocked this bill:

Christopher Chope represents Christchurch in Dorset for 20 years with a majority of 18000 and his constituency has the highest proportion of over 60s in the UK.

Filibustering should be banned in Parliament – A deliberate tactic to talk too long and thus selfishly, arrogantly and bullyingly talking out a motion that can then not be voted on.

Here is a letter that one of ADI’s supporters received from Chope – his arrogance is beyond belief !

“Parliamentary protocol dictates that Members ought not to respond to correspondence from non-constituents. Nonetheless, I appreciate the time you have taken to get in touch.

In light of the above, the attempt to bring forward this controversial legislation under the Private Member’s procedure is ill-conceived. I believe that it would be unacceptable for such a Bill to receive a Second Reading without any debate in the House of Commons.

I shall continue to put pressure on the Government to honour its promise to bring forward its own legislation.

More than 10 years ago there was a public consultation on the use of animals in UK circuses.

Over 84% of the British public wanted circuses to stop using animals in performances. Thanks to people like Chope we have still not got legislation passed to do this – constant talking out in parliament by just a few members of Parliament. Shame on them !

Thanks to President Trump and 52 senators, Scott Pruitt will “lead” the EPA.

Now we are hearing of proposed drastic cuts in the EPA’s budget—such large cuts that the Agency’s vital work would undoubtedly suffer.

President Trump stepped up his attack on federal environmental protections Tuesday, issuing an order directing his administration to begin the long process of rolling back sweeping clean water rules that were enacted by his predecessor.

The contentious rule had been fought for years by farmers, ranchers, real estate developers and other industries, which complained it invited heavy-handed bureaucrats to burden their businesses with onerous restrictions and fines for minor violations.

Obama’s EPA argued that such claims were exaggerated and misrepresented the realities of the enforcement process of a rule that promised to create substantially cleaner waterways and with them, healthier habitats for threatened species of wildlife.

The directive to undo the clean water initiative is expected to be closely followed by another aimed at unraveling the Obama administration’s ambitious plan to fight climate change by curbing power plant emissions.

Trump vowed Tuesday that he would continue to undermine the Obama-era environmental protections wherever he sees the opportunity, arguing they have cost jobs. “So many jobs we have delayed for so many years,” Trump said. “It is unfair to everybody.”

Many industries take issue with that interpretation. Tuesday’s order, for example, was met with a swift rebuke from sport fishing and hunting groups. They said the clean water rule has been a boon to the economy, sustaining hundreds of thousands of jobs in their industry.

“Sportsmen and women will do everything within their power to compel the administration to change course and to use the Clean Water Act to improve, not worsen, the nation’s waterways,” a statement from a half-dozen of the organizations said.

Es gibt allerdings tolle Nachrichten für das Projekt Deckel gegen Polio!

Vielleicht haben Sie es heute in der Zeitung gelesen: Unser Projekt in der Schule “Deckel gegen Polio” wurde nominiert als Saarlands Beste. Damit wir den Preis gewinnen können, müssen so viele Einzelpersonen wie möglich für uns in der Zeitung abstimmen.

Sollten wir von allen Einsendungen bis zum 2. März die meisten Stimmen haben, wird das Projekt auf der Gala-Veranstaltung Saarlands Beste noch einmal vollständig präsentiert und in unserem Fall gewinnt meine Schulklasse dann einen kräftigen Zuschuss für die Schule.
