Animals are masters of feelings

In comparison to the ability of animals to generate and express feelings, we humans are emotional illiterates

Australia: upcoming murder of 10,000 camels

As The Australian reports, 10,000 camels will be shot over five days from Wednesday. This will happen in the local administrative area of Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY), an Aboriginal community in the state of South Australia. The area is two and a half times the size of Switzerland, but only around 2500 people live in the area.

The order to fire was given because the camels are increasingly ruthlessly entering residential areas in search of water during the continuing drought.

“The camels come to our village, tear down fences and look for water in the air conditioning systems in the houses,” Marita Baker, an APY resident, told The Australian.

That’s why the camels have to die now.

The Ministry of Environment and Water will go camel hunting by helicopter.

The carcasses are burned or buried and left behind in remote areas.

Camels as scapegoats

However, the aggressive behavior of the animals is not the only reason to minimize their number. Another factor is the enormous CO2 emissions of the desert animals. A ton of carbon dioxide is said to produce and emit a single camel in a year.

“One million camels are the equivalent of 400,000 additional cars on the road.”
Is that correct?

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) assumes that a camel has about one sixth of a car’s CO2 emissions.

The total emissions from these animals would still correspond to around 200,000 vehicles, since an estimated 1.2 million wild camels live in Australia.

The animals were brought by the English colonist into the country more than 150 years ago imported from India and Afghanistan as a means of transport for the desert.

With the invention of the car, they became redundant and left in their fate-  and now have developed into a veritable nuisance (!!!). They would also drink the few waterholes empty.

An additional incentive for the campaign against the camels is, according to the Spiegel report, the fact that Australia urgently needs emission certificates. The country has one of the highest air pollution levels per capita in the world because of its large mining industry.
The country currently ranks third last in the climate protection index of the environmental organization Germanwatch. “Only Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia are doing even less against global warming.”

Also an interesting article about the Australian fires:https://www.rt.com/op-ed/477667-climate-change-australia-fires/

My comment:  I see that the camels have to be shot down (partly) because of the greenhouse gases they emit (although ruminant emissions are part of the natural carbon cycle).

In contrast, it appears to be environmentally friendly for Australia to burn huge tons of coal in China every year, causing millions of times more climate damage than all the camels on the planet.

That`s another clever Australian move – Sheep, cattle, dogs, coalas, kangaroos, birds, etc – they all need water too. But they murder kangaroos, because they eat the sheep’s grass! Why not shoot all animals ?

Thanks to Indians and Afghans who helped colonize the continent, camels are now an invasive species – what a shitty thought…
Couldn’t Scott Morrison be seen as an invasive species?

Australia is a screwed up country! If Australia’s attitude to climate protection does not change, all of Australia will soon be made up of coal.

Best regards to all, Venus

Australia: what have we learned from this?

Every summer, in the drought and hot season, there are more fires in Australia
But never one like this Dante hell.

An area about the size of Austria has turned into ashes.
The flames continue to swallow animals, nature, houses, people.
The air stinks of burnt meat.
Australia is among the top ten polluters on the planet. The consequences of a policy that has destroyed the country are now getting.
However, the deadly effects of this policy do not hit the main culprits.
As always, they meet the innocent.
The animals.

Sidney University estimates that 480 million mammals, birds, reptiles … are burned alive.
According to the university, many Australian animal species have been eradicated.
But the prognoses are even darker, because the final count can affect up to 1 trillion animal losses due to starvation of the survivors.

The voters, the supporters and the Government followers are complicit.

As Prime Minister, they have chosen a climate denier and a passionate supporter of the coal industry!
There is no such thing as “innocence” in politics; wrong political decisions are paid dearly, at the latest now the Australians should feel it.

The elected conservative government has pursued a miserable policy.
It introduced drastic austerity measures, drastically reduced contributions to social security, which above all meant misery and distress for the fire brigade because the firefighters used beggars and donations to provide their equipment and work clothes themselves.

At the same time, the Morrison government has given free rein to multinationals interested in theft and exploitation of nature.

While the country was turning to ashes, Morrison was on vacation in Miami, and instead of discussing the situation with fire chief Greg Mullins, he posed with the cricket team in front of the House of Parliament because something like that sells best to voters.

The sky in New South Wales has disappeared, say the locals. A dome with sick, yellowish nicotine color hangs over their head, which at dusk takes on the color of the blood.

The worst thing is that we have learned nothing from this biblical catastrophe, and nothing is being done until today about the destruction of the earth.

We distribute photos, comments, videos and suffer from collective self-pity. That’s all!

Human being is the only animal on the planet that learns nothing from its mistake.

And the biggest mistake we make is believing that only Australia has to learn from this devastating environmental disaster.

Our “ethics”, which puts ourselves above everything, runs against the wall.

Rescue workers save fox with 40 minutes of CPR after finding it trapped in water

Firefighters spent nearly 40 minutes bringing a fox back from the brink of death after it nearly drowned.

Crews were called after the animal was found trapped in an old water tank on Tuesday.

After pulling him out of the cold water firefighters bypassed advice to have the animal put down and instead performed CPR and used animal oxygen masks to bring him back to life.

Lorraine March from Kent Wildlife Rescue Service was at the scene, in Chatham, Kent.

She said: “We have no idea how long the fox was in there for but it was slowly drowning.

“The work the firefighters did was amazing, they spent 40 minutes working on it.

“They called the RSPCA who said they were available but suggested the crew took it to the nearest vet to have it put down.

“They got hold of us instead and one of our volunteers was there inside 20 minutes.”

USA: Planned murder is prevented

Intimidated by threats and harassment from animal rights advocates, an Upstate NY fire department has cancelled its annual coyote hunting tournament, a fundraiser for the department.

The Hancock Fire Department in Delaware County cancelled the hunting tournament Monday after an online petition opposing the event drew “international backlash,” reported dailystar.com. The contest was slated for Jan. 17-19.

“Due to the concerns for the safety of the residents we protect and concerns for the safety of our membership, we must cancel the tournament,” fire department officials noted in a statement released Tuesday.

This was the second year the tournament was to be held. Third Assistant Chief Blaise Bojo told dailystar.com that “a decent amount was raised last year.”

This year, though, the department and its members were subject to threats and harassment “from organizations and individuals for the protection of animal rights,” according to a statement issued by the fire department.

Bojo declined to comment on the nature of threats received.

Change.org petition opposing the contest gathered more than 20,000 signatures. Petition organizer Jennifer Christman accused the firefighters of “murdering innocent, living sentient beings for a fundraiser.”

She urged signers to “be the voice for the coyotes, we need to speak for them. They need us. Let them (the fire department) know that trophy hunting is cruel, heartless, vicious, monstrous, etc,. We need to strongly urge them to cancel this event and have a family friendly fundraiser.”

“They treat these beautiful creatures like they are disposable.

They post with the dead lifeless body of the coyote that they killed like they won an award or prize. Treated like a ‘thing’ instead of a soul instead of life. Beyond shameful. Beyond shameful. This must be stopped.”

The information accompanying the petition did not say where Christman lives or whether she represented any group. She did not respond to requests for comment, dailystar.com noted.

As part of the petition on Change.org, though, the names and contact information (either phone numbers or email addresses) of the fire department’s chief and assistant chief, the village mayor, the town supervisor and fire department Facebook page were listed.

Adding pressure to the situation, according to dailystar.com, was Village Mayor Carolann McGrath who called for the firefighters to cancel the event after she received several dozen emails describing the event as cruel and inhumane.

“This harassment has gotten to the point where it is blocking us from being focused on our main mission, which is firefighting and saving lives, (!!!) the fire department’s statement read.

The Hancock Department’s coyote hunting fundraiser is not unique and such hunting contests are legal. Other groups in Upstate New York also hold such competitions involving hunting coyotes, squirrels, crows, bobcats and foxes, among other animals.

Some downstate state lawmakers in the past have tried to get bills passed to ban these hunting contests, but with no success.

Coyotes are not native to New York State. They are larger than their western counterparts. Genetic research has shown the coyotes in this state are a cross between a coyote and a wolf.

They can be legally hunted from Oct. 15 to March 31.

It’s the longest hunting season in the state.

They can be hunted day or night and use of bait and dogs is permitted. There is no daily bag limit.

And I mean…If the fire brigade’s main mission is to save life, then annihilating the lives of others is not appropriate, because it is a crime.

If the firefighters’ professional ethics allow them to massacre coyotes to collect a “decent” donation, then we can assume that it will be our turn at some point!

We are pleased that we finally have the addresses, mails and photos of those who kill animals to accomplish their mission.
We know which one we can trust when it burns!

In the name of coyotes Many Thanks to the activists for this successful sabotage!

My best regards to all, Venus
