Another case of cruelty to animals in Serbia

Archie’s front and back left side paws brutally hacked off.

Smederevo / Belgrade, 26th August 2011 – Archie, a beautiful one-year old stray dog that used to live near a bus station in the Serbian city Smederevo, became another innocent victim of monstrous crime against animals. An unknown offender has cut off his front and back left paws and left the victim on the street, clearly wanting to make his crime (against stray dogs) known to everyone.

Archie was brought to Dr. Sasa Stokic’s practice in Smederevo, 24 hours after the crime was committed. There was a serious infection and Dr. Stokic had to amputate the lower parts of Archie’s legs in order to save his life. Dr Sasa Stokic is one of the few Serbian veterinarians who is also an activist for animals’ rights. He says that the mutilation was performed professionally, with a sharp object, and that there is no doubt that the dog was crippled deliberately. Archie is stable, but he is going to need time to recover, and he will probably be able to move with the help of special prostheses.

Police conducted an investigation and we are expecting that the public prosecutor will be informed about Archie’s case.

Experts say that individuals direct their aggression toward animals primarily due to mild penal policies and people’s traditional belief that torture and killing of animals is allowed.

The organisation ‘Humans for Animals’ warns that the crimes against animals must not be tolerated!

The authorities have to find and severely punish the perpetrators of brutal crimes and send the message to the public that every crime against animals is going to be punished and that the laws of the Republic of Serbia must be respected.

‘Humans for Animals’ invite all citizens to report the crimes against animals, because the Criminal Law of the Republic of Serbia says that the torturing and killing of an animal is going to be fined with a one year in jail.

‘Humans for Animals’ would like to thank Dr. Stokic and his wife Dusica Stokic and also Mr Bojan Ristic who helped Archie. They are taking good care of him.

Many times in the past these noble and brave people showed that there are great animal lovers and great people in Serbia that fight every day to make the life of at least some of homeless dogs and cats easier.

Please watch the video links below, in addition to the photographs.

Do what you can to help; if it is simply a donation to help with his needs.

Thanks – Mark – SAV.

—————————————————————————

Mark can you make appeal for Damjian please?

Thank you!

Nancy

——————————————-

Here some pictures of Damijan; He is in Serbia.

Damjian was hit by a car and found in the road like this.. he is blind in this one eye..and cannot bark as he should.

He is now in paid foster with Slavica, who is foster for puppies too.

We need each month some 80 Euro for his foster.

In addition, money for his diapers and special powder for him.

I now paid powder and diapers for 50 Euro from my own money.

He needs a lot of care.

I will send a basket and special bed for him for in winter to be inside.

He needs a home; he is so so, so sweet but a lot of work.

His spine is not straight.which makes it a bit more difficult.

He cannot control peeing very well and so needs to be washed and powdered.

Please if anyone can help find him a home – feel free to send this appeal around and use the movies and pics – or contact me for more information at:

nancy@straydogs.be

Web link:  http://straydogs.be/site/contact/contact.html

He has had several places in Serbia but nobody wants him or wants to take care of him.  It is so sad for him.

Now he is ok with Slavica but for how long this time??

He so much deserves a loving home.

Please Find Me A New Home – Thank You – Love Damjian.

Uk: Three New Uk Arrivals From Romania Looking For Forever Homes. Please Crosspost.

Dear Friends,

Three new arrivals to introduce to you!

These will be our last Rommie rescues coming here to the UK for at least 6-months so if anyone is looking to adopt or knows of a good home waiting please get in touch.  If you could kindly crosspost and share with your friends/family too we’d be grateful

BALANICA

Balanica is approx. 2 years old, a medium sized girl.  Balanica is still quite shy but once she knows you she starts to relax.  In fact in just 2-weeks she’s grown in confidence a lot.  Balanica loves to play with other dogs, she would benefit most in a home with another dog/s.  She’s fairly low energy, happy to play and then have an afternoon snooze.  We’re not sure how she is with cats as yet as not sure she’s encountered any in the garden.  Balanica has so much potential, she’s a really lovely girl and in the right home will simply blossom!  She has been spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped.  She is being fostered in the North London area.

MUGUREL

Mugurel is approx. 2 years old, extremely handsome, beautiful colour. A bit shy at the beginning but he comes round really quick and then he’s one of the most affectionate dog I’ve seen, wanting lots of cuddles. He is a fairly playful dog and really enjoys canine company.  He’s not extremely energetic, he does like to sit and sleep on his own sometimes.  He doesn’t seem to like cats too much though!  He would be happy to be rehomed on his own or with other dogs. Seems to be protective of his foster place (in the best possible way) so he is good as guard dog as well. Mugurel has been spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped. He is being fostered in the North London area.

AESOP

Aesop is a lively 18-month old very handsome boy!  He’s totally lovable and will take all the cuddles he can get!  Aesop is very people/dog friendly and completely ignores the cats in his foster home.  He loves to play with other dogs and so we’d really want to rehome him where he would have others to play with.  He’s not high-energy as such, he just likes a real good play then to settle down for a snooze.  Aesop has been spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped.  He is being fostered in the North London area.

Serbia: ‘Medy’ Has Been Saved From Death, But Needs a New Home and Food Urgently – Can You Help With A Donation ? – Details Below.

This is an urgent appeal to get Medy a new home and get plenty of food inside her.

Three legged Medy`s former owner was an old lady who has recently sadly died.  The local Shinters put Medy into Kragujevac city pound with the aim of killing her.  A lady named Zvezdana has rescued her instead – Medy is very thin and as you can see from the pictures, her current house is far too small.

In fact it is so small that Medy cannot even get into it !

Medy needs a new house urgently.

If you can help by making a donation towards a new house and food for Medy, then you can give via Western Union.

All you need to have is the name and address of the person who will collect your donation; this is:

Zvezdana Radojcic,

Negotin, Badnjevo bb

Serbia.

Western Union can be found at

http://www.westernunion.co.uk/WUCOMWEB/staticMid.do?method=load&countryCode=GB&languageCode=en&pagename=HomePage&src=yh_UK_brand_eng

Just use the drop down to select YOUR country (where you live and will donate from).

It is very easy and donations can be made by telephone using many cards for payment.

You will be given a specific code for your transaction.

Please e mail Zvedana at the following, telling her you have donated; also provide her with the specific code you have been given by Western Union.

E mail to   sreckonegotin@yahoo.com

Zvezdana will then visit any of her local Western Union facilities, where she will give proof of who she is, give the specific code number  and then will be able to collect your donation.

Thanks in advance – SAV.

Please try to give for Medy.

Romania / Austria: Romanian Dogs With Severe Injuries Now In Austria and Recovering – Donations Welcome to Help Treatment Costs. Forever Homes Will Be Required Soon – Can You Help ?

Both of these guys will be looking for new, forever homes once they have recovered from their injuries.

Can you help ?  – Contact (Gabriele Surzitza) details below if you are able.

Johnny – Attacked With A Shovel

Murphy – Victim of a Wire Noose.

Romanian dogs – ‘Johnny’ and ‘Murphy’.

Johnny was smashed over the head with a shovel; and Murphy was found with a wire noose around his middle which had almost sliced him in half.

Both dogs have now been moved to Austria and are receiving continual treatment.  Johnny has to undergo another operation for his head trauma – the skin is healing well but we are informed that the skull bone still has some bone splinters which need to be removed once everything else is healed.

Here is the web link to the Austrian organisation who are now caring for both Johnny and Murphy:   http://www.villa-dotschko.at/

If anyone can give a donation to help cover the costs of the treatments for these guys then it will be very welcome, thank you.  All donation details are provided below.

————————-

They are all under 3-years old aside Tata who’s approx. 6 years old.

Once they are here in the Uk I can assess them better but they are all dog/people friendly.

Some have been tested with cats, others haven’t.

I’d prefer homes with no young kids so they can have a peaceful settling in period.

Locations around Hertfordshire would be preferred, but other options around M25 considered.

PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT SAV, instead contact Chrissy directly who is organising the move and rehoming.
