Romania: (Brasov) Profiteers are Planning the Mass Murder of Stray Dogs! – Please Take Action – See Below.

(Info from http://www.etn-ev.de/)

Brand-new information from Brasov –

Profiteers are planning the mass murder of stray dogs!

Behind the back of the mayor of Brasov and together with several communities on the outskirts of Brasov, Flavius Barbulescu, director of SPGA in Brasov, founded a company to build a supra-regional detention camp for stray dogs. Hoping on the soon to be legalized mass euthanasia, this shelter with closed-circuit television monitoring and no public access, will be more like an extermination camp for stray dogs.  All this is done with the assistance of the Vice Mayor of Brasov, Adrian Gabor, who is in charge of the dogs in Brasov.

Flavius Barbulescu

Barbulescu is responsible for all dog catching activity in a 200 km radius around Brasov with more than 30.000 dogs killed exclusively in Brasov.

Adrian Gabor breaks his promise given to Princess Maja von Hohenzollern in 2009,  in which he agreed to neutering the dogs and not to kill them. In secrecy,  they prepare a massacre.

Please demand the mayor of Brasov to prevent and stop these plans, to remove the dog Killer Flavius Barbulescu from office and to remind the vice mayor of his promise.

The urban dog shelter in Brasov Stupin led by Flavius Barbulescu must be closed immediately and the control of dogs in Brasov must be transferred to the local animal welfare organizations.

This must not happen!!

Please demand of the Mayor of Brasov:

–  to stop these plans

–  to revoke Flavius Barbulescu’s responsibility for the dogs

–  to remind the vice mayor of his pledge and to stop him

–  to immediately close the municipal dog pound of Brasov Stupin under the control of Flavius Barbulescu and to transfer the care and responsibility for the Brasov dogs to the local animal welfare organisations

Serbia: ‘Lizi’ – Rescued After 2 Days On The Road After Being Hit by a Car – Her Story (and Donation Link).

This is the story about Lizi (Njanja).

Lizi on the road as she was found

Milan Calic, who is running the shelter “Riska”, traveled to the south of Serbia and on the road found a dog, who was hit by the car. He found out that the dog was lying there for 2 days. Of course, Milan took the dog to shelter “Riska”.

At the vets waiting for treatment

We have found the donor for her operation. DVM Jugoslav Vasic operated both legs, but he insisted that there is no need to  X-ray her spine.

Unfortunately, not even 15 days after the surgery, could she stand on her own. We consulted the other vet DVM Milan Matic. X-ray was taken and we found out that the spine was hurt and that she is pregnant. DVM Milan Matic said, he can operate the spine but he needs a MR. MR was taken under the anesthesia. During that, an accident occurred and Lizi was without oxygen longer period of time and she got blind.

Then she was sterilized and 10 days after her spine was operated. Unfortunately, our Lizi, who is now blind, can’t stand on her back legs. Also her muscles atrophied. We are taking her again tomorrow on X-ray.

Post treatment

What more can I say. She eats very well and she is full of optimism. It would be great if we could find someone, who would take care of her because I believe, that with the right treatment and perhaps a wheel chair, she could walk again.

She has a chip and she is vaccinated against rabies.

EU: International Call For the EU to Introduce an 8 Hour Maximum Journey Time for All Animals in Transport – Petition Link and Paper Copy to Download.

Link:   http://www.8hours.eu/8hours_en

As someone who has personally been involved with live animal transport investigations for the last 22 years, as well as:

  • making presentations to the Uk Agriculture Ministry regarding horse export investigations
  • being the author of over 20 formal complaints to the EU Legal Affairs team in Brussels regarding live animal (calf and sheep) transport investigations,
  • being the author of a recent investigation report into the calf export trade from Ireland to mainland Europe, undertaken as a combined series of investigations by european animal welfare groups,

it can be clearly said that I personally have a real hatred of witnessing animals being transported for hours and hours packed inside livestock transporters.

Part of the title of my most recent report for the EU, which was produced last August, simply said “Time for Change“.  Now, more than ever, it is time for change within the EU regarding transport times for live animals.

COVER

I ask you please to put your name to the campaign which is being presented here by Christa and Dan which calls for a maximum duration of 8 hours for all livestock being transported within the EU.

I am informed from my very helpful contacts at the EU Legal Affairs team in Brussels, that all of our investigation work and public support for reduced transportation hours are very much being listened to.  You can help us add even more weight to this call by adding your name to the campaign for 8 hours maximum.

Link:   http://www.8hours.eu/8hours_en

The link below provides access to a paper copy of the petition which is being run for this campaign.  By accessing this you can print off paper copies as required and get all your friends and family to support the call.

Link for paper copy of petition –  just access and print off your copies !       8 Hours Petition

Completed forms can be sent to Animals’ Angels e.V. in Germany – the full address is provided at the bottom of the form as per the example sheet above.  Completed forms need to be sent to Germany by end of August 2011.  The forms, as well as the online petition (link above) will then be presented to the competent political boards of the EU in September.

Now is the time for major changes to EU live animal transport legislation throughout Europe – please add your support to this.

Thank You.

Serbia: ‘Medy’ Has Been Saved From Death, But Needs a New Home and Food Urgently – Can You Help With A Donation ? – Details Below.

This is an urgent appeal to get Medy a new home and get plenty of food inside her.

Three legged Medy`s former owner was an old lady who has recently sadly died.  The local Shinters put Medy into Kragujevac city pound with the aim of killing her.  A lady named Zvezdana has rescued her instead – Medy is very thin and as you can see from the pictures, her current house is far too small.

In fact it is so small that Medy cannot even get into it !

Medy needs a new house urgently.

If you can help by making a donation towards a new house and food for Medy, then you can give via Western Union.

All you need to have is the name and address of the person who will collect your donation; this is:

Zvezdana Radojcic,

Negotin, Badnjevo bb

Serbia.

Western Union can be found at

http://www.westernunion.co.uk/WUCOMWEB/staticMid.do?method=load&countryCode=GB&languageCode=en&pagename=HomePage&src=yh_UK_brand_eng

Just use the drop down to select YOUR country (where you live and will donate from).

It is very easy and donations can be made by telephone using many cards for payment.

You will be given a specific code for your transaction.

Please e mail Zvedana at the following, telling her you have donated; also provide her with the specific code you have been given by Western Union.

E mail to   sreckonegotin@yahoo.com

Zvezdana will then visit any of her local Western Union facilities, where she will give proof of who she is, give the specific code number  and then will be able to collect your donation.

Thanks in advance – SAV.

Please try to give for Medy.

Romania / Austria: Romanian Dogs With Severe Injuries Now In Austria and Recovering – Donations Welcome to Help Treatment Costs. Forever Homes Will Be Required Soon – Can You Help ?

Both of these guys will be looking for new, forever homes once they have recovered from their injuries.

Can you help ?  – Contact (Gabriele Surzitza) details below if you are able.

Johnny – Attacked With A Shovel

Murphy – Victim of a Wire Noose.

Romanian dogs – ‘Johnny’ and ‘Murphy’.

Johnny was smashed over the head with a shovel; and Murphy was found with a wire noose around his middle which had almost sliced him in half.

Both dogs have now been moved to Austria and are receiving continual treatment.  Johnny has to undergo another operation for his head trauma – the skin is healing well but we are informed that the skull bone still has some bone splinters which need to be removed once everything else is healed.

Here is the web link to the Austrian organisation who are now caring for both Johnny and Murphy:   http://www.villa-dotschko.at/

If anyone can give a donation to help cover the costs of the treatments for these guys then it will be very welcome, thank you.  All donation details are provided below.

GO NO KILL – Sterilsation of Owned and Stray animals is the way forward.

Continual killing gets you nowhere – sterilisation DOES – It REDUCES ANIMAL NUMBERS !

I am sorry I am running late with the answer.

I have met Mrs. Corine from the Association Mutzika, France, on one occasion. As far as I know, she helps the shelter in Backa Topola for years and she is very dedicated. Corine pays for everything that Mrs. Kristina Paskaljevic does. Mrs. Kristina Paskaljevic took 48 dogs and placed them in ,,Katcha,, so they can be sterilize and foster in France or Germany, Corine finances that.

The main issue with Backa Topola is following: there is plenty of food but the dogs can not stay there forever because the heiress of that land won’t to keep the shelter, also there are no conditions for the further existence of shelter.

The only solution is, that the EU countries make an arrangement and take all those poor dogs.

We took over all of the cats (we hope that we will find the one remaining), and it will be for the best if a number of animal societies from EU would take the dogs so that the shelter could be close down.

I’m sending pictures of 30th March 2011

I am here for you if you need any kind of informations.
