After Amazonas ist like before Amazonas

 

The indignation and anger over the illegal arson in Amazon has shaken the humanity.

For weeks we had a hysterical coverage in various media about the theme “Amazon” and no Facebook page was to found, which did not report every day about it. Horror pictures, analysis, allegations, petitions everything has come into use.

But that all was a manifestation of outrage, not the solution of the problem.

Incidentally, the EU states have also been excited about the eradication of the Amazon rainforest, even though everyone secretly knew what the trade agreement would mean!
And Germany sees no reason to reject the Mercosur agreement with Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, mainly because (apart from France, Ireland and Luxembourg) not a single EU member state has objected.

The collective anger over the fire was temporary, now it seems to be over, and everyone returns to his everyday lives, including his eating habits.

Despite the imposing bombing of the press with reports of the fire hell of Amazon, no one feels directly responsible to the climate catastrophe and no one wants to give up his steak or his pig roast, although everyone knows that meat consumption is the main cause of the loss of animals, nature, forests and human lives too.

Why are we behaving so idiotically?
Why do we avoid the confrontation with a truth, the destruction of the environment, which will have fatal consequences for the life of our grandchildren at the latest?
After the well-tried method of displacement, self-healing powers are activated, “all half as bad” we say, and we make as if the problem with the extinguishing aircraft is deleted!!

For a long time, we thought that these fires do not affect us up here, these are just nature events that have arisen because of the heat in the countries down there.

But every fire in Brazil and elsewhere, every additional felled tree, reverses the CO2 balance: more CO2 remains in the atmosphere for centuries, less CO2 is removed from the atmosphere at short notice. Does not look good overall.

After Amazonas is like before Amazon, the willingness to reduce or even eliminate meat eating, and thus eliminate one of the strongest factors for global warming, is minimal.
The human animal is the only one that does not learn from its mistakes.

Bolsonaro is a criminal, EU Commission is his corrupt partner, the culprits are identified, and with these simple explanations we reassure the conscience that the Amazon is not burning because of us.

Not because 56 billion so-called farm animals are killed by humans every year for food.
Not because around the world grows on one third of the field’s animal feed.
Not because meat consumption is increasing and by 2050 meat production will double.
Amazonas burns because we believe that we have the right to eat animals.

We produce meat for the dumpsters, we burn primeval forests for an overproduction of animal products, which we don`t need at all.
And we are angry about Amazon’s illegal fires while we enjoy our beef steak at lunchtime.

What else should happen, so that the ordinary repression and indifference of the mass changes?
Unless a galloping destruction of the planet on all facets of animal and nature life ca not make people reduce or even give up their meat consumption, then how else can make it?

This question will be of great importance to animal rights activists in the future.
No one knows a safe method or an effective plan to change that society.
And by that is meant, make people stop eating meat and cooperate with a system of destruction, exploitation, crime against nature and animals!

Infantilism and the indifference of the human species is alarming.

But we remain active in the fight. Because without enlightenment and investigative work there are even fewer chances for a change of society.
And even less for animal rights.

Exclusive: An investigation is under way after cattle were allegedly sold illegally outside supply chain

The Department of Agriculture is investigating a live export company after it received footage showing Australian cattle being pulled to the ground with ropes and slaughtered without being stunned in a carpark underneath an Indonesian mosque.

International Livestock Exports has suspended all supply to one of its Indonesian abattoirs over the breach, which was reported to the department by Animals Australia.

ILE identified itself as the exporter after the department shared the footage it received from Animals Australia with all relevant exporters, in an attempt to identify the cattle.

The footage, seen by Guardian Australia, shows about a dozen cattle in an underground carpark near the grand mosque in Medan City in North Sumatra. They were killed as part of Eid al-Adha last month and a complaint was lodged with the department on 13 August.

Four of the cattle were identified as Australian. The footage shows them being pulled to the ground by ropes around their legs and rope halters, then being dragged by their tails. The slaughter happened in full view, and sometimes within metres, of other cattle.

Ear tags had been removed but a combination of ear notches and brands identified them as cattle produced on a station in the Northern Territory and shipped to Indonesia by ILE.

The slaughter was reported to the department as a breach of the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (Escas), which was introduced after a 2011 Four Corners investigation. Exporters dealing in Australian animals can sell only into an approved supply chain.

A director of ILE, Mike Stanton, told Guardian Australia the cattle had been illegally sold outside the supply chain from a facility in Indonesia, and ILE had suspended the facility it believed was responsible. “We did that as soon as we were able to work out where the leak has been,” he said.

The department told Guardian Australia it did not comment on investigations that were still in progress.

Legislation to appoint an independent inspector general for live exports passed the Senate on Tuesday.

Stanton said there were 140 facilities in Indonesia approved as part of ILE’s supply chain. “If you’re exporting a lot of cattle there’s going to be issues along the line,” he said. “We do do our best. “I know a lot of people think we don’t, but it’s bloody hard.”

He said the treatment of the cattle shown in the footage, particularly the long minutes taken to drag them to the ground, was “awful”.

“We are in the business of selling animals for slaughter but we want it done in an appropriate manner,” he said.

ILE shares an office in West Perth with Emanuel Exports, the company responsible for the 2017 voyage of the Awassi Express in which 2,400 sheep died of heat stress.

An investigation by the department into allegations Animals Australia paid for the footage from the Awassi found no evidence to suggest the footage was manufactured or illegally obtained.

ILE was issued a show-cause notice in October because of its association with Emanuel and another sister company, EMRS Rural Exports, which both had their export licences cancelled. ILE handles 70% of live cattle exports from Broome.

The Australian Live Export Council chief executive, Mark Harvey-Sutton, said the slaughter was “unacceptable” but had to be put in context of the industry’s broader track record.

“Let’s not forget that exporters are also very proactive in this space and often actions are undertaken by exporters ahead of what the regulator looks to do, and that was the case this time,” he said.

Harvey-Sutton said Australian exporters had “very good systems in place” and the council worked “very closely” with both producers and exporters to keep them informed in cases of Escas non-compliance.

There have been 172 complaints of non-compliance since Escas was established in 2012 – 70 by Animals Australia.

Its strategy director, Lyn White, said: “It is deeply concerning that Australian cattle have once again been subjected to roping slaughter in Indonesia, and that the only reason this has become known is because of the efforts of a charity.

“Escas was established to prevent such horrific treatment. The fact that it can still occur speaks to the ever-present risks of exporting animals and losing control of their welfare.”

White said Escas breaches should result in the automatic suspension of an export licence.

A review conducted by Guardian Australia of the first five years of reports found only three cases in which punitive action was taken against exporters.

Self-reported breaches by exporters are not publicly listed and investigated if they are made and rectified within a set timeline.

The chief executive of the Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association, Ashley Manicaros, said the slaughter involved just four of the 400,000 cattle exported from Darwin to Indonesia each year.

Manicaros said exporters should be given more credit for the work they had done to reform after the crackdown in the live sheep trade.

“Those operators that don’t meet those standards will be the ones that have to get to the standard if they want to remain in business,” he said.

California: bans the murder of fur animals with traps. We say: thank you!

 

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a bill Wednesday that makes it illegal to trap animals or sell their fur, making California the first state in the U.S. to impose a fur trapping ban.

The number of licenses for recreational and commercial fur trapping have declined in recent years, according to The Associated Press. The state issued 133 licenses last year, resulting in 1,568 animals trapped and 1,241 pelts sold. Animals commonly trapped for their fur in California include coyotes, gray foxes, beavers, badgers and mink.

 

Environmental groups, including the Center for Biological Diversity, have opposed fur trapping as contributing to declines animal populations, including sea otters and beavers.

But other groups, including the California Farm Bureau Federation, opposed the bill, arguing ranchers and farmers hire commercial trappers to control wildlife and protect their crops. They say banning trapping and the sale of fur would end that practice.

My comment: And again, the farmers complain.
The farmers can protect their animals (which they have for slaughter, anyway) with fences.

The peasants can not undestand any other way of living together with animals, except animals to benefit and to slaughter. And if another animal interferes this procedure, they mean it needs to be eliminated.

There is nothing more devious and cruel than traps.
And this devious method of killing is practiced by both: farmer and hunter.

Because I live up in the Black Forest, I have often found some such murderous installations and “edited” them accordingly.

 

Thanks California! it’s only a matter of time before other cities or countries introduce the same ban.

Sri Lanka: slave runs amok

 

At least 17 people were injured at a religious procession in Kotte, Sri Lanka when two elephants ran amok, according to local reports.

Footage captured by a local news outlet showed one of the elephants running down a street. More than a dozen festival-goers were injured after an elephant taking part in a Buddhist pageant in Sri Lanka went on a rampage.

 

The procession in Kotte, near the country’s capital, began with a government minister placing a sacred relic on a decorated casket atop an elephant adorned with shiny red clothing. But it quickly turned disastrous when the elephant surged forward, sending some of the terrified worshipers straight into another one which then ran amok.

Shocking footage showed a man riding on the elephant’s back narrowly avoid being trampled after he was shaken off as the huge animal heads straight into a crowd.

Officials from two hospitals said 18 injured people were brought in following the stampede, including women and at least two children, and 16 have been discharged.

It remains unknown what actually triggered the elephant (!!!)

It is another elephant-related controversy for Sri Lanka after photos emerged last month showing a starving 70-year-old female forced to don a colourful costume hiding her emaciated body. According to the Save Elephant Foundation, Tikiri was one of 60 elephants forced to work for 10 nights in a row at the Esala Perahera Buddhist festival in Kandy.

The organisation’s founder, Lek Chailert, said in a heartfelt post on World Elephant Day: ‘No one sees her bony body or her weakened condition, because of her costume. ‘No one sees the tears in her eyes, injured by the bright lights that decorate her mask, no one sees her difficulty to step as her legs are short shackled while she walks.’

And…We are on the side of the weak, the suffering one, the enslaved elephant who has courageously tried to gain his freedom for even a few minutes.

The human “victims” were taken care of immediately, the animal victim is certainly caught again from his slave owners and maybe even punished.

In the daily confrontation with the crimes against animals we need a big portion strong nerves, in order not to run amok too.
