Carmen tells and EU journalist about her very recent meetings in the EU regarding the situation for stray animals in Romania.
When Carmen returns to Romania we may make contact with her over the issue of Serbia and its treatment / policy against stray animals.
Before she left Romania for her meetings at the EU, we contacted Carmen to give her our full support. We asked her to also mention the situation for strays in Serbia when she met the EU personnel, and this she promised us she would do.
When we have more information from Carmen on her return to Romania we shall publish it. In the meantime, please watch the video for a review of events.

British charity saves the life of tiny orangutan left for dead in Borneo.
All photos – Standard and IAR.

A British animal charity has stepped in to help save the life of a baby orangutan who was left out in the sun to die in Borneo.
The baby ape was so lifeless when a team from East Sussex-based International Animal Rescue (IAR) reached him that at first they thought he was dead.
The tiny creature had been dumped and left for dead in a filthy urine-soaked cardboard box.
Lying with his arms folded across his chest, his grey flaking skin and lack of hair made him look corpse-like and “almost mummified”.

IAR officials said the baby, who they named Gito, was found in the village of Hamlet Giet in Simpang Hulu district, 105 miles from their orangutan rehabilitation base in West Borneo.
The baby oranguatan, who was dehydrated and malnourished after being fed entirely on condensed milk, was taken to the IAR clinic by motorbike in an arduous nine-hour journey.

IAR chief executive Alan Knight said: “It’s hard to stomach the shocking state Gito was in when we rescued him.
“Our team has seen a significant increase in the number of baby orangutans being kept as pets and some of them have only recently been taken from the wild.
“This is the result of the forest fires devastating Indonesia and leaving wild orangutans without food or shelter. Those that escape being burnt alive are left exposed and vulnerable, under threat of starving to death or being killed or captured by human beings.”
During a medical check, Gito was feverish, with stiff hands and feet.
He was found to be suffering from diarrhoea and from sarcoptic mange – a highly-contagious skin disease.
To help relieve him, coconut oil was massaged into Gito’s body to soothe and soften his itchy skin, and he was placed on a drip to help rehydrate him.

Mr Knight added: “Gito is in safe hands now and receiving expert treatment and care at our centre in Ketapang. But tragically there are many more like him in desperate need of our help.”

Forest fires in Ketapang Regency have triggered a rise in the number of orangutans being captured, and an urgent need for funding to help continue the IAR’s work, Mr Knight said.

Is it possible that no one out of the thousands of friends I have on Facebook is able to donate anything towards the cost of cat food? Do the kitties deserve to starve just because we are not screaming, wailing and pleading for help two times a day?

Should we talk about and maybe even consider closing the shelter and turning all of the cats back out into the streets, after years of heartily fighting for them and working way beyond our limits, as they are obviously totally unimportant to people and not even worth thinking about or saving? Is there anyone out there who really cares?

Without some sort of assistance soon, everything we’ve campaigned and fought so hard for here could quickly be lost. Even the smallest donations help, they add up and it’s better than nothing at all.

Please help if you can, even sharing our plight with others helps out, you never know who’s out there that would like to get involved and see these kitties remain safe and healthy in the only place that’s shown them caring and love.

You can donate through PayPal, our YouCaring fundraising page or our project on betterplace.org and please bear in mind that we sincerely appreciate all of the help we get, even when our thank you notes are late, which they usually are.

We are deeply grateful to all of our friends and donors who have been supporting our work so unselfishly for years now and all of us here genuinely thank each and every one of you for your unlimited kindness with every ounce of our beings! Read more on my blog:

The brilliant team led by Jill has rescued yet another seven bears from the horrendous bile trade in Vietnam. Congratulations to all the crew at Animals Asia. Below you will find video and timeline links so that you can see a lot more of this latest rescue. – SAV.
——————-
Seven more bears are finally home
Dear Mark,
Animals Asia rescued seven more moon bears from bile farms in Vietnam’s Quang Ninh province yesterday (Tuesday September 22).
See the full rescue timeline here –
The bears are from two locations in the province, where they have suffered years being held captive in small cages with regular painful bile extractions.
This represents a huge breakthrough for the team and for the local authorities who have kept pushing for the release of these bears. They will join 132 bears who already live in the beautiful surroundings of Tam Dao national park, at our Vietnam sanctuary.
Today’s rescue means just nine bears remain in Quang Ninh – and brings to 24 the total number of bears rescued from the province so far this year. This is a major success, and it’s all thanks to your support.
And you can view the full rescue journey of these bears on their road to freedom!
As always, your support means everything. Please help towards the recovery of these bears, and the other rescued bears, who are thankfully home.
Thank you for your support.
Dr Tuan Bendixson PhD
Vietnam Director

VICTORY RESULT !!
UPDATE 23/9/15 – Target reached in 24 hours!!
Additional donations always welcome.
———————————–
Is there anyone out there who can help with a sugar daddy who can pay off this debt ?
Or, is anyone prepared to set up a donations site so that the money needed can be raised ? – urgent; by Monday or the dogs are on the street.
2,580 Euros. Otherwise a very difficult pill to swallow.
Read the story below.
Please read
This is not an appeal for help, I do not believe in miracles any more.
This is only information for you who have supported us for so long time. I think that you deserve to know.
After conversation with owner of boarding kennel today, and debt who has increase a lot, we are forced to move dogs who have no sponsor on the street.
We have deadline until the monday to pay all debt. That is not possible and we know that. Our total debt with debt for food is 2580 EURO.
For us that is big money and we have no way to pay that. We are facing with hard situation, dogs in boarding have no food, dogs in shelter have no food. In last 2 month we did not collect enough to they have food every day. And that is not rescuing.
With current situation and low chance to pay that debt we can not use boarding kennel space for free. It is one of the hardest option for us, we are aware that dogs will not survive on the street, but space in shelter for them we do not have. New boarding kennel is not an option because current debt we still have to pay.
Most of our dogs are not vaccinated, because there is no money for that. If we are not able to help them, maybe some of them will find luck on the street.
For us is already hard enough because we did not keep our promise to those dogs that they will be on safe forever, and that never will be hungry. Because they are hungry. And they will not be on safe.
We know that those dogs deserve chance and nice home, but nothing of that we are not able to give them.
We have tried, and failed and that hurt a lot. I am sorry.
BRILLIANT NEWS;
UPDATE 23/9/15 – Target reached in 24 hours!!
Additional donations always welcome.
