Environmental terrorism

The environmental terrorism of the human species in all its splendor.

The Nuremberg trial around 1945 was against the main war criminals. Twelve criminals were sentenced to death

We need another Nuremberg Trial.
Unscrupulous criminals are waging a devastating war today.
Against people, nature, and animals.
It’s about environmental terrorism, one of the worst crimes in human history.
That deserves the highest penalty

France: the heart of a secretive and cruel ape trade

“One Voice” has seen information according to which more than a thousand long-tailed macaques have been imported year after year and forwarded to our neighbors elsewhere in Europe.

For many years France has been, via the ‘Silabe Platform’ (near Strasbourg), a staging post for – and moreover a place for experiments on – thousands of primates from Mauritius and Vietnam en route to laboratories in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Italy, such as Accelera, Aptuit, Bayer AG, Covance and Merck, where they spend the rest of their sad lives subjected to experiments.

According to the research of the association“One Voice”, France is the hub for the international monkey trade and the heart of a secretive and cruel trade.

“Silabe” stands for Simian Laboratory Europe and was originally founded as a private company that benefited from government funds.

“Silabe” has already been at the heart of controversies, revelations, demonstrations, and campaigns, in particular by other French associations, which had found themselves up against a brick wall.

It is now part of the University of Strasbourg and takes the form of a national public educational establishment of a scientific, cultural, and professional nature (!!!)

France: The European Court of Justice bans the murderous – “glue traps”!

March 17, 2021 – Report from the Committee against Bird Murder e.V.

Milestone for the protection of migratory birds – European Court of Justice finally bans “glue traps” in France!

After years of negotiations, the European Court of Justice (EuGH) in Luxembourg ruled today that the use of “glue traps” to catch thrushes in Provence violates the EU’s Birds Directive.

The guideline has forbidden bird trapping since 1979, but permits to “preserve tradition”.

Countries such as France and Malta make extensive use of this option and to this day allow their hunters to catch birds using methods that have long been banned across Europe.

The judges ruled today that this licensing practice is incompatible with European law.

No more sponsoring the EU Council Presidency!

Don’t you also ask yourself what makes it so difficult to forego EU sponsorship?
Why can’t the EU member states simply finance their Council Presidency, i.e. government activity, themselves?

Apparently, they can.

Germany proved this last year and, following criticism from food watch, has not been sponsored by any company.
Yet Portugal appears to see sponsorship as an opportunity to promote Portuguese brands to a wider and influential audience.
In this case, it is Sumol + Compal, a beverage company that sells sugar giants such as PepsiCo and Lipton or the chip brand Lays.

The other company is Navigator Paper, a paper products company that environmental organizations have linked to monoculture plantations and forest fires in Portugal and land grabbing in Mozambique.

And all of this while the member states in the Council of the European Union decide on important future issues for our continent – from climate protection to agriculture and health policy.
According to the Portuguese Foreign Minister, these sponsorship contracts would not lead to any influence on the relevant policy.

We think: It should never be the case – and also not be given the impression – that a company has an influence on the political agenda of the EU!
If one of the most important political institutions in Europe is sponsored by companies, that is simply unacceptable.

Please help us to prevent this and to show the Portuguese government that EU sponsorship damages the credibility of the EU and must therefore finally be stopped!

Information: What is the problem?

Every six months, on January 1st and July 1st of each year, another EU member state takes over the presidency of the Council of the European Union, in short, the EU Council Presidency.

This is an important role: the Council Presidency decides which draft bills the Council will examine as a matter of priority and makes proposals, and it also represents all other member states in negotiations with EU institutions.

Almost every Council Presidency in recent times (with the most recent exception of the German government, July – December 2020) has accepted sponsorship from national or multinational companies, be it in the form of contributions in kind or in the form of cash payments.

Benefits in kind include, for example, the provision of food for meetings or events or vehicles for the transport of ministers and civil servants to meetings.

Some presidencies have offered companies platinum or gold levels of sponsorship (Government of Romania, January-June 2019). Due to a lack of transparency, we don’t know what the benefits are.

Other presidencies have proactively solicited sponsorships in exchange for “priceless attention, prestige and increased brand awareness for their services and products” (Government of Malta, January-June 2017).

For the Croatian Council Presidency (January – June 2020), INA, an oil company, and the automobile manufacturers Peugeot and Citroën took over the sponsorship.

For the Finnish Presidency (July – December 2019) it was BMW; and for the Romanian presidency (January – June 2019) Coca-Cola, Mercedes and the oil company OMV Petrom were sponsors.

The Austrian Presidency (July – December 2018) was sponsored by Microsoft and Porsche, among others, the Bulgarian Presidency (January – June 2018) even accepted 50 private sponsors.
In fact, this practice dates back to at least 2004.

Some of these corporations are important EU lobbyists and spend millions of euros annually to influence EU politics.

It is not difficult to see why these corporations want to ingratiate themselves with the Council Presidency, the ministers, and officials of the member states, even if the kind of benefits they receive remain hidden from the public.

Please be sure to sign the petition.

The Dutch animal welfare party gehts 6 seats in parliament!

Another record result!

The Dutch animal welfare party “Partij voor de Dieren” moves into the national parliament of the Netherlands with 6 seats!
In the capital, Amsterdam, it received an incredible 7.1% and in many other cities and towns, the election results were similarly high.

There are a total of 150 seats in the “Tweede Kamer der Staten-Generaal”, as the parliament is officially called.

The election result has not yet been fully counted, but it is expected to be 3.8% for thePartij voor de Dieren”, which is an increase of 0.6 percentage points and one seat more than before.

It has been represented at the national level in Parliament since 2006 and in the European Parliament since 2014.

One single success story since it was founded in 2002. The right to vote in the Netherlands is particularly fair and also enables smaller parties to participate in political processes.

In the meantime, the Dutch Animal Welfare Party, initially led by Marianne Thieme and currently by Esther Ouwehand, is no longer a small party!

Even government participation could now be possible!
Some media have already reported on it and if this proves to be the case, an era change in politics could be imminent.

Finally, compassion would have a place in the decisions of a national government.

We keep our fingers crossed for our Dutch sister party!

Bravo … respect the Dutch 👍 …. why can’t Germany do it ..?

Do we need a European commissioner for animal welfare?

Along with dozens of European organizations, Animal Equality Italy launched a campaign to create a new government position: European Commissioner for Animal Welfare.

WHY WE JOINED THE COALITION: The campaign launch comes on the heels of the live animal transport tragedy, in which two animal transport ships carrying a total of almost two thousand animals were denied entry to multiple European countries due to a suspected disease and the ships full of animals drifted through the Mediterranean sea for months—one of the ships remains at sea today.

Footage revealing the harsh conditions and treatment of animals on farms and slaughterhouses in Italy and Europe also led to the launch of the campaign, which has been a long time in the making.

LANGUAGE IS IMPORTANT: Currently, the European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety is responsible for not only food safety issues but also everything related to animal welfare within the European Union (EU).
