Canada: He was lured with bait, impaled with a spear, and left to suffer – Take Action.

Tell the Alberta government to ban trophy hunting!

Dear Mark,

He was lured with bait, impaled with a spear, and left to suffer, possibly for hours, before he finally died. The agony endured by this black bear and the twisted, gleeful reaction of his killer, an American trophy hunter, were captured on video and posted on YouTube, using a camera attached to his seven-foot-long, homemade weapon.

With the public rightfully outraged by this footage, shared by shocked viewers all over the world, now is the time to take action to prevent similar cruelty to other animals.

Take Action 3

Urge the government of Alberta, Canada, where this slaughter took place, to prohibit all trophy hunting.

Alberta’s government says it will ban the use of spears this fall during a regulatory review. But, while the government is to be commended for a swift response, spears are rarely used, and the most widely used killing methods in Alberta trophy hunts—which are just as torturous—will remain entirely legal unless more is done.

Trophy hunting is opposed by the overwhelming majority of Albertans and millions of people worldwide. It’s high time to outlaw this cruel practice.

Please, take just a moment now to ask Alberta’s government to ban not only the use of spears, but all baiting of animals and all trophy hunting.

Thank you for caring about animals.

Sincerely,

Andrew Rowan

It has always gone on all the time hunting existed to give hounds their ‘blood lust’ and feel for killing – and still the Countryside Alliance who support hunting claim they knew nothing about it !

But now the anti hunt groups have the footage on film.

Take Action To Prevent Rhino Extinction.

NRDC

Mark,

Only days after South Africa rejected a reckless scheme to legalize the international rhino horn trade, neighboring country Swaziland rushed out a similar plan that could push Africa’s last wild rhinos to extinction.

And it couldn’t come at a worse time: Illegal rhino killings in South Africa alone rose 7,000% in three years, fueled by skyrocketing international demand for rhino horn on the black market.

We must move quickly to mobilize strong international pressure on Swaziland’s King Mswati III to derail this destructive proposal — and show him that the whole world is watching.

Add your voice now: Urge Swaziland’s king to abandon plans to legalize the rhino horn trade.

Thanks in part to pressure from NRDC supporters, two months ago South Africa — home to 80% of the world’s rhinos — shelved a proposal to legalize the rhino horn trade after concluding that it could drive wild rhinos closer to extinction.

Unfortunately, it appears that Swaziland — a small monarchy in southern Africa — has picked up the mantle and is prepared to present its ill-advised plan at the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) world treaty talks in September.

Swaziland’s risky scheme would overturn a 40-year-old international ban on the rhino horn trade, which would likely increase demand and fuel more senseless rhino killings.

We must do everything we can to make sure Swaziland never gets that chance.

Urge King Mswati III to drop his disastrous proposal to legalize the international rhino horn trade and give rhinos a fighting chance at survival.

Make no mistake: The world’s last rhinos are on the brink — and their fate is in our hands.

Please add your voice to mine to help save rhinos before they are lost forever.

Sincerely,

LACS Ban Snares

animals at risk

Dear Mark,

Today we have launched a new major petition calling on politicians across the UK to ban the manufacture, sale and use of snares –

Sign the petition.

Snares are the landmines of the countryside. They are cruel and indiscriminate killers of wild animals and pets and we can’t understand why, in the 21st century, the UK remains one of just five countries in Europe that has not yet banned them.

Last month our investigators visited a shooting estate in Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland, and found a hare trapped in a snare. We have explained the hare’s tragic story in a new film exposing the horror of snares, and we would be so grateful if you could watch and share the film to help us raise vital awareness.

Watch the new film.

1.7 million animals will be snared in the UK this year. That is one every 20 seconds.

So, in the time it takes you to read this email… yet more animals will fall victim to snares. This has to stop!
