Germany: Why I Do Not Vote. The Political System of Germany and The EU Is Too Corrupt For Any Animal Welfare.

On July 8, 2017, a dead wolf was retrieved from the lake Schluchsee in southern Germany, near my village.

He was shot. It is the 24th wolf shot illegally since the resettlement of the wolves in Germany in the year 2000. Of these 24 murders, there were only three convictions up to now – in all cases, the perpetrators had posed themselves.

After each murder there are always the same discussions:

These are the poachers,” say the hunters, “we are very sorry,” say the friends of the hunters, the politicians, and the peasants who have nothing against wolves but want to protect their flocks.

As soon as the cruel battle of the whales and dolphins in Denmark begins, the German press hasten to report about it and tries to harass a reader-friendly readership against the “criminals”.

It is always the other countries that are criminally dealing with animals, there are always the others who are corrupt and proficient, it is the Chinese who massacre the dogs, and the rich safari hunters who cull our elephants.

It is terrible to exterminate animals, you have to do something!!!

Petitions are signed, donations flow without end to the protection of the threatened animals !!!

And so the German citizen always points to other people who illegally kill wild animals because their governments are corrupt.

Always the others!

The Green Minister of the Environment, Franz Untersteller, has taken a ridiculous position on the subject:

Shooting a wolf is a criminal offense. I very much regret that a man has extinguished the life of this rare creature by force. “

Thus an incapable politician wants us to declare that the 24th murder of a strictly protected animal provokes only his sadness, and he even reminds us that it is a crime. They are the politicians who will continue their co-operation with hunters, the meat mafia, the circus industry, laboratory labs directors, etc … in the coming elections of Germany with the blessing of a dumbed people and want to persuade us that they do it all for our benefit!

I have absolutely no hope that in Germany that any government can work for my good – and I am a German citizen; a citizen of the gutless EU !

But if I at least knew that a (political) party wants to take the welfare of the animals into account and improve it where they can, then I would go to the elections.

So far, however, I am not aware of this political animal saviour, and the German animal protection party plays no essential role in the political scene.

I will not vote for this reason.

Best regards to you, Mark, and to all

SAV Comment

We agree with Venus – there seems very little hope for positive animal welfare.

– it will be interesting to see what happens at the German elections in September 2017.

  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_federal_election,_2017

With Angela Merkel and now also Martin Schultz (President of the European Parliament from 2012 to 2017) as 2 of the main political contenders,  it is very unlikely that the ‘animal welfare voice’ will start to be listened to in Germany.

Merkel does not listen, and Schultz, ex EU Parliament President – what more does one need to say; he is ex EU – and the EU policy ‘is what we have experienced with live animal exports to Turkey, for example, “there is nothing we can do”.

What faith in politicians to make the world a better place for all !

We divide every day “5000 by Friday”!!

We divide every day “5000 by Friday”!!

I don`t know how it goes to you every morning, but when I start the PC, my nerves get a hard blow. There is not a day when a new torture version of humans does not appear on animals on the Internet. We think we’ve seen it all, but every day we see cruelty that our eyes cannot bear. Because of these infinite human crimes against animals, the question arises:

Who is my fellow human being?

With whom do I live together?

But above all, I am tormented by the question: can I expect these people to change at some point?

Can I hope that I can win them through education, undercover documentation, information on the rights of animals?

And as paradoxical as it may seem, world-wide results in animal protection are often the result of an illogical and inconsistent basis.

I would like to share a personal experience:

It was a winter evening in 2011 in the pedestrian zone of the city, next to where I live. We had an info stand exclusively for signatures set up for the 8hours campaign. It was cold and there were few people. Suddenly I saw a very elegant lady, who came to see me from the department store.

She was wearing a fur coat and had an expensive leather bag. There was a Mc Donald Hamburger in her hand. “Give me the list, I want to sign, too,” she said, taking the pen.

Ha! I thought, “I do not have to beg!” The lady has signed. “Yes, but you also eat meat,” I said politely. “So what?” she said, “That I eat meat does not mean that animals must suffer”!

Oops !!

At this moment I thought of the joke with the psychiatrist:

The insane doctor asks his patient: “what is 2 and 2”?

He says: “5000”.

“Well, yes,” says the doctor, and he asks the next patient “what is 2 and 2”?

He says “Friday”.

Then the doctor asks the third one: “what is 2 and 2”?

And he answers: “4” !! “

Yes! And how did you get it? “

” Very easily! I’ve divided 5000 by Friday “!!

So, it is also in animal protection, the result counts. I estimate that 60 to 70% from the 1.2 million signers at th

at campaign, were carnivores. The illogical motives of these people have brought us 1.2 million votes!!

I think we need to develop a new mass strategy for animal protection. It is an illusion to believe that people do good only when they are logically and morally convinced.

My best regards to all

UK: As We Said, Away From The Useless EU Shackles, THE UK Can, And Will Take Back Control For The Better Of Animals And The Environment.

SAV Comment:  We have said for a long time on this site that the UK getting away from the Junker / Tusk / Van Goethem attitudes of ‘we can do nothing’ when it comes to the environment and animals welfare should be very beneficial to both the environment and animal welfare.  Free from EU shackles which really mean and do nothing to help either, because the EU does not enforce its own rules and regulations, will mean that post Brexit in just a few years time, the UK will take back control of its own laws from the EU and can work hard with NGO’s to make the all round situation much better for environment and animals.

We have some faith in Mr Gove who describes himself as an ‘environmentalist’ – which is great as he is now the newly appointed Minister at the Department for Agriculture, Food and the Environment in the UK. – https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-environment-food-rural-affairs  – as the Defra Minister, Mr Gove is the first and most important UK government person in charge of how the UK stands regarding environment and agriculture; including animal welfare

As an NGO, we are most keen to see the UK prepare to ban live animal exports as soon as it leaves the EU.  We are certain this will happen as there is already a lot happening on this issue ready for the day we leave the EU and take back our own controls as a nation

We are more than happy to assist Mr Gove with our views and knowledge on some issues – especially things such as animal exports.

The EU, under Junker, Tusk and co. will simply plod on doing nothing in reality for animals and the environment.  If other EU welfare organisations want things to remain as they are; which basically means having their evidence ignored; then they stay in the EU – the union of no progress or hope.  If they want improvements in the environment and animal welfare, then they should follow the UK and get out of the EU – take back their own controls by their OWN governments – not that of tin pot masters in Brussels.

The other nations of Europe have their choice to leave, but will any of them do it ? – we very much doubt.  So they can all plod along meeting Mr do nothing types like Van Goethem; presenting all their evidence of animal cruelty etc – and we guess they will continue to be simply ignored just like they have been so much over so many years.  SAV.

Mr Gove has said in his speech of 21/7/17:

The decision to leave the European Union has been interpreted in many ways, and I won’t revisit the debates now which led to that decision being made. Now that decision has been made, it creates new opportunities, and challenges, for the British Government. And nowhere more so than in the area of environmental policy.

We now have (outside of EU controls) an historic opportunity to review our policies on agriculture, on land use, on biodiversity, on woodlands, marine conservation, fisheries, pesticide licensing, chemical regulation, animal welfare, habitat management, waste, water purity, air quality and so much more.

Leaving the European Union means leaving the Common Agricultural Policy, leaving the Common Fisheries Policy, and taking back control of environmental policy.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-40673559

Farm subsidies will have to be earned rather than just handed out in future, the Environment Secretary Michael Gove has said in a speech.

Farmers will only get payouts if they agree to protect the environment and enhance rural life, he will say.

The move is part of what he calls his vision for a “green Brexit”.

He criticised the current system for giving money to some of the UK’s wealthiest landowners, for encouraging wastage, and for not recognising “good environmental practice”

Mr Gove described Brexit as “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reform how we care for our land, our rivers and our seas, how we recast our ambition for our country’s environment, and the planet”.

https://www.holyrood.com/articles/news/uk-ban-microbeads-says-michael-gove

Michael Gove says microbeads – tiny pieces of plastic that are easily swallowed by marine life – will be banned from use in cosmetics and personal care products

The UK Government will ban the sale of microbeads as part of efforts to reduce plastic in the ocean, Environment Secretary Michael Gove has announced.

The measures, unveiled by Gove as part of a speech on ‘delivering a green Brexit’, would mean microbeads – tiny pieces of plastic that are easily swallowed by marine life – will be banned from use in cosmetics and personal care products such as toothpastes and shower gels.

Announcing the government would follow a recent consultation with legislation to prohibit their use later this year, Gove described the effect of microbeads on marine life as “devastating”.

Gove also outlined plans to explore new methods of reducing the number of plastic bottles from entering the oceans.

Speaking at WWF UK on Friday morning, Gove said: “Eight million tonnes of plastic are discarded into the world’s oceans each year, putting marine wildlife under serious threat.

“In October 2015, the government introduced the 5p carrier bag charge. Figures released today show that policy’s enormous success – nine billion fewer carrier bags distributed since the charge was introduced, a fall of 83 per cent. More than £95million raised from the charge has been donated to environmental, educational and other good causes.

He added: “There is more we can do to protect our oceans, so we will explore new methods of reducing the amount of plastic – in particular plastic bottles – entering our seas, improve incentives for reducing waste and litter, and review the penalties available to deal with polluters – all part of a renewed strategy on waste and resources that looks ahead to opportunities outside the EU.”

Michael Gove ‘deeply regrets’ Trump’s approach to Paris climate agreement

In first speech since cabinet return, environment secretary says he hopes US president will have a change of heart.

The environment secretary said international cooperation was crucial to resolve the problem of climate change, adding: “The world’s second-biggest generator of carbon emissions can’t simply walk out of the room when the heat is on.

Gove described himself as an environmentalist in his speech in Woking, Surrey, on Friday morning. “Leaving the EU gives us a once in a lifetime opportunity to reform how we care for our land, our rivers and our seas, how we recast our ambition for our country’s environment, and the planet. In short, it means delivering a green Brexit.

I am an environmentalist first because I care about the fate of fellow animals, I draw inspiration from nature and I believe we need beauty in our lives as much as we need food and shelter.”

Mr Gove and friend – Mr Gove is on the right !

News, Views and Info From Venus.

Hallo dear Mark,

I have found this short but very interesting article on the “business” of the EU in a very enlightened newspaper. I translated the article, but first I would like to write my first thought that came to me when I read that.

Since years, we try to get through the 8 hours of animal transports. For many years, we are trying to stop the criminal gangs in Romania, which are doing the bad business with the strays and, as known, also with EU funds. For years, we try to abolish or at least minimize the animal experiments, which are led only by greedy criminal idiots.

The answer of the EU Commission on these issues was always: “we can do nothing”.

Nevertheless, in this corrupt business, the EU Commission can do something, and even very quickly!

It can threaten Ukraine, that it will not get financial support, if it does not allow (as it wanted), that EU-Gangs rob their forests and destroy them. This is how the EU supports nature and animals!

Only those who cooperate with the EU’s Mafia Scams will get “kisses” from Juncker!

The others, we all, who try to abolish the suffering of animals, we who are trying to free the slaves of this world, we have been ignored for years with the outrageous sentence: “we can do nothing”

Only that was my first thought. And this thought has provoked a strong anger in me.

Best regards from

Venus

The translation

The EU is happy to present itself as a community of values. The “Deforestation in Bucovina” feature illustrates what is meant by this. In 2015 environmentalists, such as Mikola Petichenko, had achieved that Kiev passed a law, prohibiting the export of timber. After the “political change” in 1991, Ukraine lost a considerable part of its tree population through the ruthless clearing of the Carpathian forests.

Criminal gangs and the buyers of their prey in the EU have benefited.

The EU immediately saw an infringement of the Association Agreement with Ukraine. Brussels argues that the regulation only favors smuggling and threatens to stop its aid payments to Kiev.

So the law was again overturned, whereupon Jean-Claude Juncker stepped up to the press and rejoiced that the promised 500 million euros would now be surrendered – that the overexploit can go on without undisturbed. This make clear what values count in the end.

Hallo my dear Mark,

In Minnesota, animal activists have liberated probably on Monday, 17. July,  40,000 fur bred animals from their Torture. I send you the link.

The system-serving Sheriffs have already started their dirty propaganda in public, so that the prisoners are caught again. Because it is about economic losses for the Farm, nothing more.

-These minks have no chance of survival

– Many of the liberated minks will not survive their liberation for long

– And many wild animals of the region will fall victims of these hungry minks who are looking for food.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is not interested in the minks or the wild animals.

It is only interested about the economic losses of $750,000  for the farm of hell.

Old good times are reawakened today in my memory. USA was the country with the most animal liberation in the 80 years. And for many years ALF had written history with her lab and fur farms actions. The concept of “animal rights movement” got popularity and sympathy in the masses.

Today, courageous activists have shown us that the United States is not the same as Trump. And not only!

I started my day with a small portion of hope. For America, for the animals, for all of us.

And finally a few small links of our own to show how the ‘wonderful’ EU – a multitude of nations; or is that simply Mr. Junker, are treating those (like the UK which is leaving the club) that do not comply with HIS rules and regulations.  Regulations of the EU exist only as words on EU bits of paper.  As we have shown many times on the site, enforcement of EU Regulations is way above the EU – they are incapable of enforcing their own rules where and when it matters.   They turn a blind eye to corruption, non compliance of the rules and their own enforcement of EU legislation.

Despite what is being said, the EU IS trying to PUNISH the UK for leaving the union.  They will attempt to make it as hard and financially depleting as they can in order to try to prevent other nations from leaving the club. The UK has faced a lot of much more severe problems over the last century that those now trying to be imposed by Junker and crew – world wars; the blitz in London during WW2, decades of IRA bombings; terrorism on the streets – the EU is nothing but pathetic; they consider themselves to be gods whilst the normal citizens of Europe look at these fools and ask them when they are actually going to enforce their own regulations.

The UK voted to leave and it will.  Brussels really hate that, but it is their inactions in the past, and now, that have led the good people of the UK to give Brussels and Junker the two fingers.

Here is a point some may like – during the old wars between the UK and France (ie Agincourt etc) many centuries ago, the English longbow men were fatal with their professionalism and accuracy.  If they were captured by the French during these wars, the French would cut off the index and middle finger of the English longbow men so that they would never be able to draw a bow again.

Thus, on the battlefield, the English bowmen would often give the French enemy the ‘two finger salute’ to show that they still had their (bow drawing) fingers; could still use their weapon and thus cause them big problems.  Two finger salutes as they are known is now subsequently a common British way of showing disgust to opponents – and now the citizens of the UK have great pleasure in giving the two fingers to the tin pot gods at the EU in Brussels.  SAV.

Response To The Recent Post Regarding Possible Donkey Exports From Australia to China. 18/5/17.

Picture shows : On this China market live donkeys are being brutally slaughtered.

SAV Comment:

The following relates to our recent post regarding donkeys possibly going to be exported from Australia to China.  Here is the link to the post, and we would suggest that it should be reviewed BEFORE reading the responses below:

https://serbiananimalsvoice.com/2017/05/13/australia-australian-donkeys-face-being-bludgeoned-to-death-with-sledgehammers-in-china/

We agree with many of the points raised below, especially those of points 2 and 5. We know that the Australian trade survives on transporting live animals over huge distances to terrible deaths in far off places.  We very much would argue about the statement made that donkeys would be slaughtered in licensed abattoirs in Australia, not transported live to China.  The original comment in the past response also talks of ‘humane’ slaughter in the street using sledgehammers rather than their use in slaughterhouses.  We have campaigned against, and shown posts in the past relating to the use of sledgehammers to kill animals in slaughterhouses.  Nothing is better – their use either on the street or in slaughterhouses is abhorrent and should be banned wherever.

Here is the response to the above links from one of our supporters which was sent to us by e mail.  We have reproduced in full with no edits.

We welcome comments relating to any issues covered.  Please use the ‘Contact’ tab at the top of the page if you would like to leave any feedback.  Comments are shown on the site under ‘Recent Comments’ which is located on the right hand side.

———————————-

Dear friends from the “Donkey Sanctuary”,

I have a few Points about the article you send in SAV from 15/5/17.

Point 1.Whilst we cannot deny the truth of the articles linked in the Serbian Animals Voice page, many of them are several years (or even decades) old, and in the case of flesh being cut off live donkeys, we had reassurance some years ago from a reliable contact in Beijing that this was rare to start with, and now no longer happens.

Criticism: How are you so sure that new photos would not be worse than the old ones?

Which is their reliable contact in Beijing?

From whom do you know that such things no longer happen? Apart from a recognized animal protection organization in the country, I would not trust anyone else that he/she is telling the truth. Especially in China, a country where there is no animal protection, one should be very careful with such statements.

Point 2. Whilst we do not condone the roadside slaughter of donkeys by sledgehammer, although it is brutal, as long as it is performed by someone who knows what they’re doing and does it well, it can be quicker and more humane than what goes on behind closed doors in some abattoirs rather closer to home.

Criticism: If you really consider the slaughter of the donkeys with sledgehammer as a “humane” slaughter, compared to the brutal slaughterhouses, then you can suggest to those who eat meat and wear leather that they prefer both (meat and leather) from the “human” slaughtered donkey on the street. This reminds me a little of the organic meat myth in Germany (Bio Fleisch).

Picture shows : Horrifying sights of the animals bashed over the head with a sledgehammer.

Point 3 :

If you go on to read the full article

http://www.abc.net.au/news/rural/2016-07-14/chinese-eyes-on-northern-territory-for-donkey-farming/7628078

you will see that the logistics and economic viability are in fact far from straightforward or easy to justify. This article is dated 2016 and is far more realistic as the extract in the box below demonstrates:

The article may be up-to-date, but how can you believe that an unscrupulous businessman, such as Trier, says the truth, if he says, that they are not planning anything with live transports to China? Why does Trier give you the guarantee that he says the truth? He also says himself: “as soon as the dollars stack up, then one comes immediately into the business! We are talking about millions of business, don`t forget !!!

Point 4. Furthermore, the indications are that if it should happen (which currently looks unlikely), that donkeys would be slaughtered in licensed abattoirs in Australia, not transported live to China.

Criticism:  You say “the indications” but you are not sure. We aren’t either. We do not expect an email from both countries to find out that such a transport takes place. And China has never done any business with slaughtered animals. China is a country which is 100% oriented on transports of live animals. Because that is cheap!

The simple logic says that if the donkeys are previously slaughtered in “licensed abattoirs in Australia”, the business it is not worth.

Point 5.   We call for a halt to the trade in donkey skins to produce ejiao until the impact of the trade can be assessed and shown to be both humane for donkeys and sustainable for the communities that depend on them.

Criticism: You distinguish between illegal and legal action. And in addition, you demand a “halt” of trade with donkeys, which are slaughtered for the production of ejiao, not a ban. You leave a window open for Chinese medicine? Today, we know very well that the famous Chinese medicine is only a good selling myth. Just like the liquid from the bile of bears in China and Korea, which produces non detectable positive effect, but only an agonizing death for millions of animals. I think you should be much stricter in your judgments and requirements. Especially when it`s about countries like Australia, China, Romania, Turkey … etc ,,

Experience has shown us that we can never be sufficiently mistrustful and vigilant, and that is why we must act on time.

Regards
