Serbia: ‘Tug o War’ Video Using Horses Requires Actions – Please e Mail Using Sample Letter Below.

Serbian Flag

UPDATE 14/1/14 –

We first had this disgusting video footage sent to us this last weekend – now we have followed up urgently and we are pleased to say that:

The police of Valjevo city have now been following up this footage – as a result they have worked with the Public Attorney of Moinica City who gave an official report of the incident on National television on 10.1.2014.  We understand that all persons involved in this incident who undertook this animal abuse and caused suffering have now been arrested and will be charged under Article 269 of Serbian law for animals.  This has a maximum punishment of 3 years in jail.

Whilst we do not expect anyone to be sent to jail for 3 years, it is hoped by us and many others that the prompt action since the weekend will send a clear message to the communities that animal abuse will not be tolerated.  If Serbia wishes to join the EU as a member state, then it really / seriously needs to address the issue of working to the good animal welfare laws which it currently has in place; rather than keep ingoring them.  We have shown enough examples on this site where the laws are just ignored for the benefit of some, whilst the animals continue to suffer.

This is a start of actions which we very much hope will now continue.

Well done the Serbian campaigners who have worked so hard with us over the last few days to get a quick and positive result.  They know who they are.

———————————————————

On 12/1/14 we have been provided with the following very disturbing abuse of horses in a kind of ‘tug o war’ type event.

You can see the video here: (note you may need to copy and watch on Google; or try the video link in the Sample Letter below)

Video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYF06B8tRGo&feature=youtu.be

At first we were unsure what country this event had taken place in.  We consequently made contact with Serbian activists.

With their very valuable help we have now identified that this abuse of horses is taking place in Serbia; at a village known as Milavac.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milavac

and  http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milavac

And also   http://webot.org/?r=e&search=Milavac

Milavac is a village situated in Ljig municipality in Serbia.

Serbian activists are now making a written charge to both the Ministry of Agriculture and also to the Ministry of Internal Policing.

This crime showing clear abuse of animals is punishable by Article 269 of the Criminal Code of Serbia.  Proof of this video has now been made as evidence of the crime, so that it can be presented to the police.  Without a hard copy of the evidence the police will dismiss this crime; and so we have to copy in onto a reliable database for safe keeping and future evidence.  If a record is not kept, the police will ignore and dismiss the evidence presented – thus the abuse will be un-recorded and the police will take no further action to investigate and punish those undertaking this abuse.

The Chief Veterinary Inspector for Valjevo city, Kolubara region; the area of Serbia where this has happened, is Mrs Slavica Sreckovi

The e mail address of the Serbian police is

muprs@mup.gov.rs,

The Director of the Serbian police is Mr. Milorad Veljovic

This information is only now being posted onto this SAV site, once copies of the video have been made – now we have clear evidence of the abuses that the authorities and the police cannot ignore.  This evidence is being presented to them in the form of a charge, asking them to take action.

We hope to be able to give you an update on the situation in the future.

We request that you all write a few lines expressing your disgust at this video, and demand that the police and the authorities take action.

You can write your own e mail, or alternatively, copy and send the following short sample letter:

SAMPLE LETTER.

Dear ladies and gents of the Serbian police and government authorities;

I write regarding the following video which I am informed was filmed in Milavac village, Serbia.

Video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYF06B8tRGo&feature=youtu.be

I now request that you undertake full investigative action to ensure that all those involved in this clear abuse of animals are prosecuted under Article 269 of the Criminal Code of Serbia.

This type of animal abuse does not do your nation any good regarding its global audience.  You need to act and act now to ensure this does not happen again in future.  This is also not a good advertisement for Serbia and its wish to become a future member of the EU.

I may consider that is necessary to provide this video footage to the EU Parliament / Commission for their review.

Pending this; I ask once again that you act to prevent this kind of event ever taking place again in the future.  Today in the 21st Century, Europe must grow up and ensure that animal abuse becomes a thing of the past.  If it happens now, then you should be taking action to ensure that it does not happen in the future.

Thank You;

Yours truly,

YOUR Name and nationality.

****THIS DOG WAS SAVED FROM THE HORROR OF THE POZEGA TORTURE & KILL POUND****

JKP, Nas Dom (ironically translated to ‘Our Home’) is an infamous dog pound in Pozega, Serbia, referred to by activists as a dog concentration camp. It is funded by local government and dogs from 7 cities are caught and impounded within its walls to face unimaginable cruelty and death.

DOGS SUFFER THE INDESCRIBABLE AGONY OF STARVATION AT POZEGA – THEY ARE LITERALLY LEFT IN EMPTY CAGES WITHOUT FOOD TO SLOWLY STARVE TO DEATH.

The confusion, suffering and fear endured by these dogs is unimaginable. Many look like walking skeletons, some are too weak to lift their heads. Puppies die a slow and painful death while their emaciated and desperate mothers watch helplessly. Dogs cower in corners or curl into tight balls as they have no means to escape. Puppies eat their deceased litter mates in an attempt to stay alive. But those who do survive the starvation then face death through being beaten, strangled, or injected with T61 chemicals (without sedation or anaesthetic).

Even those rescued do not escape the torture. Before we can liberate a dog they are sterilised by an unqualified vet who butchers their bodies and sews them up with string instead of surgical thread. It is feared that no anaesthetic is used during surgeries. Many rescued dogs are on the brink of death due to the ruptures and infections caused by such procedures.

The alleged torture and abuse carried out by the Pozega staff is well documented and 17+ criminal charges have already been brought against the shelter, but still this facility operates and even now poor desperate animals are being caught and impounded within this death camp.

THESE ARE MAN’S BEST FRIENDS – LOYAL & LOVING
– BRUTALLY TORTURED & KILLED

Those impounded in Pozega are mainly street dogs, some were once cherished family pets now abandoned. Many of the recent rescues have serious health problems due to butchered sterilisations and untreated illnesses and infections. Some are fighting for their lives. From the 108 saved in the last 5 months, 11 have already lost the battle to survive since their release.

BELGRADE HUMANIMAL HAVE NOW RUN OUT OF FUNDS. WE CANNOT CARE FOR THE SURVIVING RESCUED DOGS WITHOUT DONATIONS.

Rescue costs include: Release fees, kennels or foster, additional food due to starvation, vet bills, including assessments, emergency operations, antibiotics etc., distemper serums, flea treatments, transport, inoculations & certifications.

WE CANNOT RESCUE ANYMORE DOGS UNTIL OUR DEBTS ARE PAID.

Pozega Rosaline

Archi.

Rainbow bridge 1

Its Christmas

We have some very sad news to tell you today – little ‘Archi’; one of the well known and very much loved little kitties who was given a home at shelter Felix, has passed over the rainbow bridge.

Danica has written a very moving account of little Archi, and you can read it by clicking on the following link:

http://novisadcats.blogspot.com/2013/10/another-angel-has-gotten-his-wings_25.html

Little Archi, in his all too very short life, became a very prominent symbol for all the excellent work being undertaken by Danica in working to help stray cats and kitties in Serbia.

You may have seen Archi’s ‘rascal face’ being used quite frequently on this SAV site.

He also became even more of a star when he was used as one of the ‘Felix shelter’ 2012 Christmas card kitties used on the KAALE website – http://www.kaale.org.uk/files/Downloads/Card%202%20Xmas%202012.pdf

To see the others, go to  http://www.kaale.org.uk/   – the ‘Links’ and then ‘Xmas cards 2012’.

With Winter just around the corner, it is essential that the shelter is able to provide continual heat and warmth for all the kitties living at the shelter.  Four gas bottles, each costing 1,300 Euros are required to ensure that the animals stay warm and healthy this winter.

If you are able to give something in memory of little rascal Archi then please go to the following and then click on ‘Ready to help – Donate Now’ on the left hand side.

Please give anything that you can – it all helps, no matter how small a donation.

http://catshelterfelix.com/

Here we will leave you with some wonderful pictures of little Archi who was given everything he needed by Danica at the shelter – LOVE, WARMTH and REGULAR FOOD.

 Archi 1

Archi 2

Archi 3

Archi 4

And for a little stray who started life on the streets of Serbia, that meant the world.

RIP Archi – you were, and are still a star !

You know, there are many days; every day; when you sometimes question if what you try to do is worth anything.  You go from animal suffering in Serbia, to animal abuse in Romania, and then move on to animal suffering in Bosnia as we will see a decision on maybe today (28/10).  Animal suffering is a global issue and it is something that needs to be rectified now, today.

When you feel low and think that maybe you are not getting anywhere with your campaigns; you just have to look at the face of little Archi; rescued by Danica and provided with so much love, care and attention; and then you are given the much needed lift to continue to fight for what IS right – for ending animal suffering around the globe.

The passing of rascal Archi has really affected us here at SAV today; but we gather strength from this little guy who has now given us even greater strength to work harder and campaign even harder for justice and for what we know is right – that all animals be treated with respect and compassion.

Archi, you were, and still are, a star shining bright !
