unkg00012serbian-flag-2

A great friend of SAV, Jean Bird, who lives in the Uk and works forever raising funds for Jelenas shelter in Nis, Serbia, has now set up a Tail Wags Shop on ebay, where a whole range of items can be purchased; all monies going to the Nis shelter.  Please give Jean and tail wags all the help and support that you can – both with purchases AND with DONATIONS of ITEMS to be Sold.

If you wish to contact Jean for any donations of items you have, please e mail her at:   jean.birdvegg@btinternet.com

This is a message from Jean about the establishment of ‘Tail wags Shop’ :-

Dear All,

Much blood, sweat and tears this morning and hopefully I have just given birth to Tail Wags Shop! selling lots of goodies to help Jelena’s sanctuary for dogs and cats in Nis Serbia.

It is a serendipity of unusual items, please visit.

Fingers crossed that this link is working

Serbia / Austria: Do You remember ‘Lola’ in December ?

We now have some great news from Jelena.

You may remember the pictures and the appeal that was put out last December for Lola, a beautiful dog who was in very geat need of urgent medical attention – see the link below.

https://serbiananimalsvoice.wordpress.com/2008/12/01/serbia-urgent-appeal-100-euros-required-for-vital-operation-on-lola/

Despite not having the funds, Jelena immediately had Lola treated; you can see the story via the following link:

https://serbiananimalsvoice.wordpress.com/2008/12/03/serbia-lola-update-031208-good-news/

Well now, as a great end to the story, Lola has been found a loving home in Austria.  Here are some pictures of Lola with her new family:

lola-new1

lola-3-new

That is a great end to a story.  We know that Lola will be very happy with her new family and a great life in Austria.

Dear Simonne,   January 2009.

white-bundas

This beautiful white Bundas has now arrived at our EPAR shelter with a big smile on his  face. We try to keep smiles on the faces of all our dogs and cats at EPAR shelter by providing them with love, care, a safe home and lots of good food.

The continued smiles on our EPAR shelter animalsv are kept because of the wonderful help which people and organisations such as yourselves are able to provide.

We are very, very grateful for your tireless help and support.

Today  is a real holiday  for our animals because now we have taken in your very wonderful donation of 600 kg of dry dog food into EPAR shelter.

food-jan-09

I am very happy that you may be able to help our 40 cats which live at EPAR shelter, as very often they have no choice but to have to eat dog food.

They will have big smiling faces if they have a delivery of cat food especially for themselves; very happy cats !

We are very, very  grateful to you all.  For all of the animals at EPAR shelter, there has been enough suffering in the past.  Now at the shelter it is time to try and give them a better and happier life for the future.

Without the help and support of our very many animal friends everywhere, our successes for the animals would be much harder to achieve.

Thank you again dear Simonne;

Love  and regards

VICTOR

How Victor used to Live – Chained with Very Little Food and Water

Here is ‘VICTOR’ before he arrived at EPAR (our) shelter in May 2008 after being taken from his owner.  He  was very sad, much too thin, kept on a chain wrapped round his neck and often lived without  food or water.

 victor-may-08

A Sad and Very Thin Victor

Unfortunately, due to a lack of funds to build the 30 new shelter boxes which are required, a few of the dogs at EPAR shelter have to be kept on chains.  Hopefully, in the Spring of this year, dogs which are very frightened or which are very dominant, will be given new shelter boxes.  People are arriving at the shelter with new dogs very often.  We hope very much that we can find a new owner for many of the dogs, even though we wish to build new box shelters in the Spring.

Below is Victor now in January 2009, a much happy and healthier dog thanks to EPAR shelter.

PERICA

‘PERICA’  is a dog which was beaten, thrown into a double layered sack and then placed into a garbage container where he would have been taken to the city dump and left to die.

Perica is named after the sweet little boy who found the dog, and with his parents, carried him all the way to the EPAR shelter.

Perica arrived at the shelter on the 3rd March 2008; he was immediately put on a drip and given other medical attention.

PUPPIES

These people did not want their puppies.  They delivered them to the EPAR shelter.

The mother of these puppies is their own dog !.

We suggested sterilisation of the mother dog to stop this happening again !.

This is Iris who we took from the pound yesterday. she is wearing a
coat donated by Linda Payne.

Can a new home be found for her in Austria?

She is very nice and not too old… she is much smaller than Doga Argentino that we had and who was stolen from us in April.

I hoped it was our Grof when we heard about doga in the pound, but
never mind.  We rescued Iris.

Coats for both Ben and Dona (see below) were donated by Linda Payne.

Serbia: Latest News From Jelena – 25/12/08

nici-1

This little cat is called Nici, and she spent at least one week in a basement in a building because the people who held the key didnt want to open it…

As a result, Nici is now being treated for pneumonia.

She is a good cat, and although a stray, so nice and well behaved.

nici-21

nici-3

Can anyone provide a home for her ?

She is around 5 years old…

Here are the two puppies (Ugljesa and Ognjen) which Jelena managed to get from the dog catchers (Shinters) last week, with Bronya the cat.

If Jelena had not rescued them, then they would have been taken away, thrown into the pound and eventually killed.

Can you provide financial help or a new home for the puppies ?
