England: ‘High Class’ Butcher Gets 10 Months After Investigation Into Animal Abuse.

England

SAV Comment – Bastards like these should get 10 years; not 10 months.

The time has come to say something about the work of the Investigation “Hillside’s Farm Animal”.
Not many words, just a heartfelt “thank you”.
Thanks for the hard work.
Thank you for the courage and perseverance.
Thanks for the nerves.
The many cruel days with sadists and helpless animals have left traces certainly.
I can already imagine: you can still hear the cries of the animals at night in your dreams, and the senseless cruelty of the mass murderer in this cave burns almost like the mark on the body of the animals in your head.
But you are continuing relentlessly, consistently, hard!

Dear Team of Hillside`s Farm Animal Investigation,
I am with you, and I wish to express my respect, my appreciation and solidarity.
Venus.

Prison Sentence for Bagshaw after Hillside Film Cruelty at Slaughterhouse

Hillside are encouraged to hear that, today at Stafford Crown Court, Anthony Bagshaw has been sentenced to a custodial term of 10 months in prison and banned from keeping, owning, transporting or delivering farm animals for 15 years.

Over the last 20 years Hillside’s Farm Animal Investigations have exposed a great many cases of animal cruelty and neglect right across the country.   To our great disappointment, much of these have not been treated seriously by the Authorities.  We are pleased that today an appropriate sentence was handed down and we hope this will go some way to discourage others who may be involved in animal cruelty.

It is worth noting that, had Hillside’s Farm Animal Investigation team not been able to obtain the harrowing evidence of barbaric cruelty happening behind the closed doors of this ‘High Class’ family slaughterhouse, it would still be going on right now.  We hope the FSA will rise to the challenge of their role, which is so vital in protecting farm animals the dreadful abuse that is all too common in the farming industry.

Tales From South America (By Venus).

Schweinekopf

I was in a distant country, in South America. I wanted to visit friends.

The supermarket, where this photo was taken, was a great one and had everything to sell!

Suddenly my eye falls on this chamber of horrors. Department “meat”! It was not all as neat as in the picture when I saw the heads.

One was perched, one other tipped down, the third one was behind and not be seen.

Altogether there were five heads.

I stay in front of the glass and look in.

Motionless, I cannot believe it! The butcher comes and asks what I want. A photo, I say, can I take pictures of the pig heads? Of course, he said, and begins to arrange the heads. The image must be “beautiful”, he says. He tries, which head to the right, which left.

The chunks of meat disturb a bit, he says, they are not “beautiful” and make the picture bad. Gradually other people gather around me, they like the idea of taking pictures, they smile and make comments.

The cruel sight of the dead, still bleeding heads of creatures does not seem to touch them.

A few years ago this would be inconceivable. Today the farm industry no longer needs to protect the corpse consumers, because it knows: the apathy of modern man is secure.

Suddenly, the security personnel appear. “Photography is prohibited”, they say, and they want to immediately deleting the picture.

I save myself and my picture with great effort, and leave the supermarket.

Photographing murder victim has been banned, but its murder does not!

That is the prevailing morality of a society which every day fed by the suffering and the blood of animals.

A society that lives on the edge of the moral minimum.

A society of cretins.

Every time I look at this photo, I think:

Death is a master from a world without empathy.

And regards to you, dear Mark.

Brazil: Government Plans To Approve 40 Mega Dams In Amazon Rainforest – Deadly For Flora and Fauna.

Brazil

NO GOLD MEDALS HERE!!!

18/03/2016. Foto: Fábio Nascimento/Greenpeace. Greenpeace Brazil activists have joined forces with Munduruku Indigenous leaders to protest the Brazilian government's plans to build a mega dam on the Tapajós river, in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon rainforest in the Pará state.Using traditional canoes, activists have joined the Munduruku on a sacred part of the Tapajós River to send a clear message to the world: "Damn the dam. Keep the Tapajós river alive". Together, they unfurled a 20X30 meter banner on the river demanding an end to the São Luiz do Tapajós dam. The protest celebrates the International Day of Forest, on March 21st. Sawré Muybu Indigenous Land - Itaituba, Pará, Brazil. 18/03/2016. Photo: Fábio Nascimento/Greenpeace.

Dear Mark,

The Amazon rainforest is under threat. The Brazilian government want to grant permission for over 40 destructive mega dams to be built right through the heart of the forest. This could completely drown endangered wildlife, and displace thousands of Indigenous Peoples.

In order to build one single dam, greedy corporations must also destroy hundreds of kilometres of fragile rainforest for roads, workers’ housing and construction work. Multiply this by 42 and you can see how the levels of devastation will be catastrophic.

Will you help us save the Amazon from destructive dams Mark with a regular gift?

We must act now to stop these dams from going ahead. We need to increase surveillance in the Amazon so we can photograph dam destruction and gather the evidence we need to lobby big business. We need to keep up the pressure on global brands such as Siemens* so they can see how toxic this project is, and agree not to get involved. But we can’t do this alone, we need your help.

dam 2

Will you help fund our campaign with a regular gift? It takes just two minutes to do:

Donate £3 a month
Donate £5 a month
Donate £10 a month
Donate another amount

Government and big industry see this as a massive business opportunity. Global companies like Siemens* are in a reckless pursuit for profit and have no consideration for the destruction their involvement will cause.

We can and will stop mega dams from destroying the Amazon.

Thanks for everything you do.

Canada: He was lured with bait, impaled with a spear, and left to suffer – Take Action.

Canada

Tell the Alberta government to ban trophy hunting!

Dear Mark,

He was lured with bait, impaled with a spear, and left to suffer, possibly for hours, before he finally died. The agony endured by this black bear and the twisted, gleeful reaction of his killer, an American trophy hunter, were captured on video and posted on YouTube, using a camera attached to his seven-foot-long, homemade weapon.

With the public rightfully outraged by this footage, shared by shocked viewers all over the world, now is the time to take action to prevent similar cruelty to other animals.

Take Action 3

Urge the government of Alberta, Canada, where this slaughter took place, to prohibit all trophy hunting.

Alberta’s government says it will ban the use of spears this fall during a regulatory review. But, while the government is to be commended for a swift response, spears are rarely used, and the most widely used killing methods in Alberta trophy hunts—which are just as torturous—will remain entirely legal unless more is done.

Trophy hunting is opposed by the overwhelming majority of Albertans and millions of people worldwide. It’s high time to outlaw this cruel practice.

Please, take just a moment now to ask Alberta’s government to ban not only the use of spears, but all baiting of animals and all trophy hunting.

Thank you for caring about animals.

Sincerely,

Andrew Rowan

LIVE – so you know how this ends?

Rescued sun bear Annemarie arrives, she leaves the truck and is wheeled off to quarantine ahead of a new life.

And if that was all that happened this would be the greatest day in the life of this bear.

For the rest of us it would be a day to remember for all the right reasons. A day when seven years of cruelty ended for beautiful Annemarie.

Except something else happened.

Update 18/8 0845GMT – – Things are now underway – watch the first short video here:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdYgajvd4jo

———————————————————–

Animals Asia tweeted: Follow a LIVE timeline of Annemarie’s rescue starting around 9 hours form now:

Bought as an exotic pet while just a cub, this seven-year-old sun bear has only ever known life behind bars – until now.

Follow the rescue live here from 8am Vietnam Time, Thursday, August 17.

Tomorrow an Animals Asia rescue team will head to Nam Dinh province to rescue the female bear. She was originally bought by the current owner’s father who has now passed away. His son – having learnt of the legal requirement to register bears – is keen to do the right thing and voluntarily hand over the bear.

While the illegality of the bear bile industry means that owners will routinely deny extracting bear bile, it’s believed that in this case, the bear has not suffered bile extractions.

However with bile farms still operating and with a market for bear parts for use in traditional medicine, the rescuers are thankful for the voluntary handover and keen for it to take part as soon as possible.

The bear will be given an anesthetic ahead of a transfer to a transport cage before being moved to Animals Asia’s Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre almost 200kms away.

The rescue is going ahead following liaison with the local Forestry and assistance from local charity ENV.

The bear has been named “Annemarie” by the rescuers – after their previous Bear and Vet Team Director and friend Annemarie Weegenaar who recently moved on after a decade in the post.

Tuan Bendixsen Animals Asia’s Vietnam Director said:

“At seven years old this is still a young bear and one that can enjoy a full life in the future. However, there is always a physical price to pay for these bears when they have suffered a lack of space, poor diet and inexpert care. Our vets will carry out a health check as part of the rescue to ensure Annemarie is safe to travel – and she’ll enjoy ongoing rehabilitation and vet care back at our sanctuary.”

It’s likely that this rescue can be completed inside a single day with the bear entering sanctuary quarantine the same day.

Animals Asia has rescued nearly 600 bears – the vast majority from the bear bile industry. Annemarie will be the 150th bear currently being cared for at the Vietnam sanctuary.

Around 1,200 bears are still caged in Vietnam by the bear bile industry with over 10,000 more in China.

China: They’re trapped in the world’s saddest zoo – Petition and Actions.

They’re trapped in the world’s saddest zoo

Dear Mark, It’s been called the “world’s saddest zoo,” and with good reason. Arctic foxes, beluga whales, walruses, a wolf and a polar bear are shut inside tiny, windowless, virtually barren rooms in the Grandview Mall in Guangzhou, China.

These animals are living in conditions so completely removed from their natural habitats that they represent one of the most distressing examples of animal deprivation I have ever seen.

The belugas swim in murky water. The foxes are malnourished and listless. And the polar bear sits silently day after day as shoppers stop to stare at and pose for selfies with him.

Please help us speak up for these poor animals!

Take action now to help close down this horror show and send its inhabitants to a sanctuary.

No animal should ever be exploited for entertainment, but the Grandview doesn’t even come close to meeting any internationally recognized standards. It is devastating to see these animals suffer helplessly with shoppers constantly banging on the glass of their exhibits.

HSI is supporting our Chinese partner groups in their petition to the governor of Guangdong and our friends at Animals Asia Foundation to try to help these animals in desperate need. We have already raised a complaint with a Chinese office, and now we need to add your voice to our call for swift and decisive action.

We can’t just leave these animals to languish endlessly.

Take Action 3

Please sign our petition to re-home them immediately to a more humane and appropriate setting.

Thank you for caring about animals.

Sincerely,

Andrew Rowan President and CEO Humane Society International
