A PHOTOGRAPHER has taken these striking images of a 580-kilogram bull named Vulcano moments before the bull gored him in the thigh.

As part of a medieval festival young men in jeans or shorts and T-shirts chased Vulcano through the fortified town of Tordesillas in central Spain.

It was slaughtered after crossing a bridge into a meadow where it faced crowds of people, some on horseback and many carrying lances.

A total of 12 people were injured in the event, known as Toro de la Vega, a Red Cross spokesman said.

Most people suffered cuts and bruises but two people had broken bones and one person was gored: photographer Pedro Armestre, 41, a freelancer who works regularly for AFP and was covering the event for the agency.

The bull gored Armestre in the right thigh.

Armestre, who was conscious and speaking to AFP’s Madrid office after the injury, was taken to a hospital in Valladolid for surgery.

The Red Cross official said Armestre’s condition was serious but not life-threatening, describing the skewering as “long but not too deep, that is to say, it is not an excessively serious goring”.

Hundreds of activists from the Party Against Bullfighting and Animal Cruelty (PACMA), protested in Madrid three days ahead of the event. Banners at the protest declared: “Torture is not culture” and “Stop Toro de la Vega”.

Activists from the group delivered a petition to Spain’s parliament, saying it contained more than 85,000 signatures opposing the Toro de la Vega.

Tordesillas’ mayor Jose Antonio Gonzalez Poncela played down the protests, saying there were similar demonstrations at bullrings around Spain “so it is nothing more than that”.

“There are always people in favour and people against in all aspects of life, not just for bullfighting,” he told Spanish public radio RTVE.

The festival is one of the oldest in Spain with roots dating back to the fifteenth century. The bull has to be enticed across the river from the village to the plain ‘Vega’ before it can be killed to honour the ‘Virgen de la Pena’. Picture: Pedro Armestre

The brutal “Toro de la Vega” event is set to happen tomorrow in Tordesillas, Castile & León region in central Spain. Last night, 20 of the bulls which are to be used in the festival either escaped, or were purposely let out.

Digital Journal reported on the festival and the protest held in Madrid on Saturday, with ten to fifteen thousand people rallying against the brutal ritual. The “Toro de la Vega” festival features a bull being released into the meadow and slaughtered by people on horseback and on foot.

The protest was organized by the Partido Animalista (PACMA) and thousands condemn the festival as a brutal and medieval act that should be stopped.

A video of Saturday’s protest is included above.

20 of the bulls intended for the festivities went missing on Sunday and officials in the town are not ruling out possible sabotage.

The bulls were in the corrals in a meadow in the vicinity of Salamanca road, where the event is set to take place on Tuesday. Someone had released the bulls.

While it sounds like the Partido Animalista might be involved, according to the local mayor, José Antonio González Poncela, “no one knows who and how they have been able to escape but we do not believe this was the act of the anti-bullfighting people” adding that this would have to have been done by someone used to working with bulls.

The bulls have since been led back to the corrals in the early hours of the morning ready for the event tomorrow.

Romania guilty

Dear all,

A brief background of the law regarding the stray’s management for those who are not aware of it or just a remember for all those who have stood besides us all these years and have constantly made efforts to help and support us:

In 2007 a legislative project (known to you as PL912) which regulated the management of all the dogs (strays and with owners) by neutering and returning (catch and return), which had been approved by the Romanian Senate, was blocked for 5 years by the Lower House of the Romanian Parliament. Further on, this chamber has fully and completely modified the law from „catch, spay and return” to „catch and kill”, version in which the law was voted and approved. Before it was enacted by the Romanian President, the law was contested with the Romanian Constitutional Court. In January 2012 the Constitutional Court ruled such contestation and it issued a Decision whereby it clearly stated that „the mass killing of the strays may not only be applied as a last resort, exclusively when all other solutions have been accordingly implemented by the local authorities, however such solutions have failed to limit or to eradicate this phenomenon”. As a result, PL912 was resent to the Parliament with the purpose of conformation with the Court’s Decision. Another difficult year with considerable lobby actions and projects, materials, meetings regarding the legislative implementation of the dog management program by catch, spay and return. In the hysterical social context presented and created by the media and embraced by the politicians, on  10 September 2013 PL912 was once again transformed in catch and kill all, form in which it was voted by the Lower House of the Parliament.

On 14 September pl 912 was contested at the Constitutional Court based on the fact that it was voted and passed without it being in accordance with the Court’s Decision from 2012! The contestation was signed by 30 senators, mostly from the political party PP-DD (Dan Diaconescu) and a few senators from the other parties which chose to keep their verticality despite the instructions they were given by their political parties!

The tragedy of the child was presented blunted: it was claimed that it had occurred on public property (not private as it really was) and the child was found 1 km away from the park where he was with his grandmother. It is unconceivable how the 4 year old child could have arrived in such location by himself considering the extremely difficult and dangerous road he had to walk, which was problematic even for an adult. The shockingly relaxed attitude of the parents, especially the mother’s, is also staggering.

For nearly 2 weeks a war without precedent was launched against dogs and animal lovers. The people were set in an unbelievable manner against the dogs and animal lovers and the animal welfare NGOs were lynched in the media with the purpose that political objectives are indisputably achieved: the mass killing of the dogs and thus the insurance of the business which brought tens of millions of EURO to the authorities, the media annihilation of the thousands of people who protested in the streets against a cyanide exploitation of gold project in Rosia Montana, the creation of a psychoses in the population in order to ensure that the dogs would be perceived as being the biggest problem in Romania and therefore keeping a blind eye and turning the people’s attention from the real and critical problems of the country, which affect millions of people.

This mental manipulation produces drama in Romania”: dogs are killed “as a prevention” by people who do “justice” to themselves, the shelters build by animal lover communities are wracked to pieces, the mayors which poison the strays on the streets, the dog catchers who are on the run constantly day and night to catch the strays and overcrowd them in the public extermination camps allowing the dogs to eat each other or simply kill them, the police which fines illegally anything related to a dog – either that you feed a stray, that you own dogs, that you walk a dog and this bothers others. The dog catchers aggress the people, they destroy them mentally, especially the children! The unconscionable amount which the dog catchers receive (50 Euro/per each dog head!!!) in Bucharest only for the catching and transportation of the dogs in the public extermination camps make them fight for each dog, stray or with an owner!  This is how Ecaterina Moraroiu looked like, abused by the dog catchers when she defended her dog when the dog catchers caught her dog just from her side; the dog catchers immobilized her with the cross between her shoulders and she was dragged between the cars: http://m.rtv.net/97917

People are running with the dogs in their arms in order to hide them from the dog catchers, crowd them in their apartments which are already full of animals. The children who developed depressions because of watching and noticing how their friends are being caught. A 8 year old child almost threw himself from the 2nd floor when he heard that his friend, the stray dog, was caught by the dog catchers.

The friendly, healthy and protected dogs, all having sad or beautiful stories, which had found a family and shelter in the animal lover communities, where they were loved, nursed and taken care of, are caught and thrown over each other in the public extermination camps.

Tens of people wait at the doors of the shelters to adopt the dogs which were extorted from the vicinity of their homes or in order to recuperate their dogs, however in many of the cases the gates are closed and access is denied to them!

I appeal to those of you who are able to find places for the Romanian dogs, to take what you can, helping the animal lovers you already know/help from Romania. Please, help the animal lovers with whom you are in contact to transfer the dogs protected by them from the street to temporary paid fosters, at least untill they are prepared to leave Romania to other places.

The Romanian stray, abandoned or chased away or racked, grateful for small piece of bread a mat under a window where he can rest, near a human being, which has sadly become a part of the Romanian history, has long become a great business for the authorities. Brutally extorted fron the community which looked after him and cared for him, has now become, more than ever, the prime matter of a great Romanian industry “The Stray Business”.

Subject (example): Stop mass killing of dogs in Romania!

Honorable Members of the Constitutional Court,

Distinguished Officials,

Madams and Sirs,

Please know that mass killing of dogs is the worst decision possible: it is irrational, expensive, rejected by the World Health Organization (WHO) recognizing that dog slaughter has no result on the dog popluation in the street.

It is an as well known fact that killing stray dogs only pursues certain financial interests, as it is become notorious that tens of millions of EURO have been used formally, on paper, for stray dog management however in fact such amounts were used for other interests.

MASS SPAYING AND NEUTERING is the only LONG TERM solution for the decrease of the stray dogs phenomenon, as it aims to the source of the problem.

Mass killing is simply not the answer and is totally unacceptable in the civilized world of today.

We kindly expect from the Constitutional Court to prove it is correct and righteous and thus confirm by its current Decision the legal constitutional precedent given by the Decision 1/2012.

It is shameful that cruel mass slaughters of dogs can still happen in a member state of the European Union of the 21st century. The world is looking forward to hear you have reached the only correct and humane decision regarding the welfare of these animals, according with European and ethical norms, with the requests of the entire world, with the appeals from 6th and 11th September of European Parliament – Intergroup on the Welfare and Conservation of Animals who considers that this „horrible and useless massacre of dogs” „goes against the values and objectives of the Treaty on the functioning of the European Union”.

Please, be advised that if the killing of dogs starts, we will show to the entire world the reality of the dog camps, we will notify worldwide about the financial interests behind the business of killing dogs, we will withdraw any support that we have given so far to your country, we will boycott Romanian products and tourism, as no one will want to associate with a corrupt, cruel and immoral country.

We ask you to restore the image of your country and your people in the entire world and say NO to killing and ask for implementation of a real, effective and civilized dog management program by mass spaying and neutering

Thank you,

Name, country

Liebe Tierfreunde,

Life for a stray dog in Romania

  • In Bucharest in the period 2001-2007 has been spent almost 9 million to kill 144,000 dogs (62 euros per head).
  • In Arad in the 2008-2010 period 2,986 dogs were killed for 308,048 euros, or an average of more than 103 euros per animal,
  • in Slatina in the 2008-2010 period 1,111 dogs were killed by spending 205,500 euros, almost 185 euros per dog,
  • in Brasov in the period 2003-2008 were killed 20,000 dogs, to the tune of 1.45 million euros (72 euros per dog),
  • Constanta in 2008-2010 were killed 20,000 euros for the $ 1.5 million (75 euros per dog).

The result is that the massacres of stray dogs has increased.

Sterilization instead only costs 20-25 euros per dog.

Perhaps this is the reason why politicians and companies have no interest in sterilization of Romanian dogs.  Catching and killing dogs is BIG business – and where is all the money going ? – politicians pockets maybe ?

Maybe it is just me, but if you are undertaking a kill of thousands of badgers to see if they are allegedly carrying bovine TB and thus giving it to cattle as the National Farmers Union are always saying; when the ‘cull’ badgers are shot, then is it not common sense to undertake a port-mortem of the dead animals collected at the ‘kill sites’ and see if they actually DO HAVE / DO NOT HAVE, or are the alleged ‘carriers’ of the bovine TB which they claim is being spread to cattle ?

The government (led by David Cameron and his ‘yes man’ Owen Paterson) has introduced a ‘cull’ of 5,500 badgers in West Somerset and Gloucestershire to attempt to eradicate bovine TB, which it is said can be passed from badger to cattle.

Owen-Paterson_2077475b

Above – the ‘brains’ (or lack of) behind the cull associated with bovine TB in badgers – but which does NOT test culled badgers to find out if they carry bovine TB !!!

It is claimed that the trial is to test whether badgers can be shot „effectively, humanely and safely“.  It is not to test how much bovine TB is reduced by culling badgers !

So, my logic and probably that of many other welfare people; you put men out with guns to ‚test’ if badgers can be shot, and then after working towards a trial of killing some 5,500 badgers, who are (as the government and NFU claim) carrying bovine TB and spreading it to cattle, you only select to do post mortems on 250 animals and of those, you do not test any to see if they are carrying bovine TB !!

Maybe I am going astray somewhere with this government policy, but if the government and NFU claim that it is the badgers which are spreading bovine TB to cattle, would it not be a good idea to test all the badgers killed in this ‘cull’ to see if they are actually carriers of bovine TB ???

badgers animal aid.org.uk

Can someone in UK government or the NFU actually inform me where the logic is in this cull.

A cull to eradicate bovine TB, which at the same time does not do any tests on the badgers killed to ascertain if they are actually carriers of bovine TB in the first place !!!

Another reason to get Cameron and his cronies out of government at the 2015 election here in the UK.

Mindless or what ? – an NFU spokesperson declines to comment on the numbers culled, saying “it was too early to draw any firm conclusions”.

Our conclusion is that this cull is pointless and even it it does go ahead, at the very least, it should be testing the badgers killed to find out if they ARE actually carrying bovine TB.

If there are no tests to find out what population of badgers may be carrying bovine TB, and we have nothing gained from the cull apart from lots of dead badgers, then what does this cull actually do except show that men can shoot badgers with guns ! – I think we have already worked out that man + gun = kill.

A Conservative / Cameron / Paterson brain dead policy, with a complete by-pass of what the whole issue is about from what we can see – mental government and Fational Farmers Union  (NFU) or what ???

EU: EU Intergroup Writes for the Second Time to Romanian President About Stray Dog Killings.

Enforcement of the new law regarding stray dog control in Romania

Dear President Basescu,

It is with great sadness and concern that Members of the European Parliament Intergroup on the Welfare and Conservation of Animals address their second letter to you after their first appeal of last week was ignored.

We acknowledge and respect the Romanian Parliament’s adoption of a law which will allow local authorities to apply euthanasia of dogs that have stayed more than 14 days in a shelter.

The Romanian authorities will have now the duty and responsibility to enforce the law in a civilised and non-cruel way but given the sheer number of stray dogs in Bucharest and the whole of the country we have serious doubts that it will be possible.

We are concerned that it will end in a brutal massacre of dogs and would therefore like inquire if there exists already a strategy on how to apply the euthanasia campaign. If yes, we would like to have the details. Will it include as well dogs that have already been neutered? When and how will it be enforced? We hope that you will be able to provide us this information.

The very large stray dog populations in Romania are the result of bad management practices. Since many years NGOs have called to invest in systematic neutering campaigns and in education programmes for responsible dog ownership. This has been generally ignored and has resulted in the current situation.

The Members of the European Parliament are flooded with messages from concerned people throughout the world who urge us for help in order to avoid a massacre of the Romanian stray dogs.

We call on you and all competent authorities to ensure that uncontrolled killings of stray dogs will be avoided. Even though the European Union has little to say when it comes to companion animals it would be a shame before the international community to admit that cruel mass slaughters of dogs can still happen in the European Union of the 21st century.

Please act now, so that worst can be avoided.

Sincerely,

Dan Jorgensen,

President of the Animal Welfare Intergroup

England (UK): The Badger Cull – Is It As Effective As What The Government Are Telling The Public ? – Not That Much Is Being Said !!!

England

The official secrecy around the badger cull is anti-democratic

Defra and Natural England monitors are silent about the culling – so how can we be sure it is being carried out properly?

Patrick Barkham

theguardian.com, Thursday 12 September 2013 13.24 BST

I was pulled over by police twice in the space of 20 minutes last week for being “intimidating”. The second time officers said they had received a call from a member of the public who felt harassed by me. This member of the public was a large bloke driving a pick-up truck which was almost certainly laden with a high-calibre rifle. I was in a people carrier, armed only with a torch. He was enjoying an evening of paid employment killing badgers. I was enjoying an evening of paid employment seeking to discover a few details about the offensively secretive badger cull currently unfolding in the English countryside.

In an incident entirely typical of this cull, the gunman was helped to do his job by the police, who conveniently prevented me from doing mine. On both occasions, officers held me for far longer than it was necessary, to establish I was not breaking any law. This delay enabled the badger cullers to drive away into the darkness and continue their work without having to suffer the terror of a journalist politely stammering, “Excuse me sir, how is the badger cull going?”

We are being kept in the dark over the badger cull, an important and expensive policy which is designed to reduce bovine TB in cattle. There are rational arguments that can be made in favour of this slaughter of 5,000 badgers, but the secrecy with which it is being conducted is suspicious and scandalous. Defra won’t release any details about how it is being carried out. When they are forced to by freedom of information requests, it is so heavily redacted it is meaningless. The National Farmers Union won’t answer questions about the cull; neither will Natural England nor the expert independent monitors – respected academics tasked with assessing the efficacy, safety and humaneness of it.

It is impossible to shine any light on the cull, in west Somerset at least. I’ve visited for five days and long nights in the last two months and the marksmen won’t talk about it, the farmers won’t talk about it, and when you ask local people, anyone who supports it behaves with the kind of bashfulness last seen in the late 1990s, when it was shameful to publicly admit to voting Conservative. Even the landscape is secretive: vast tracts of crown land and hidden valleys with nothing but a dead end road and lonely farmhouse, with a tractor and trailer pulled across the farmyard for protection.

I understand why some farmers have good reason not to talk about the cull. I met a farmer’s wife whose eyes filled with tears as she described months blighted by threatening phone calls from anti-cull activists. I spoke to a farmer who received three arson attacks soon after publicly declaring his support for the cull. Farmers have families and often live in isolated spots where they feel particularly vulnerable. These fears have to be respected.

But farmers in the cull zone are doing themselves a huge disservice with their silence. Country dwellers complain how city types are utterly ignorant of their way of life, but without farmers’ voices it is impossible for the public to understand their point of view – and the valid, persuasive reasons they may have for supporting a cull.

It is a shame that they feel scared because I have also met many of the anti-cull activists and found them to be the gentlest people you could encounter on a dark night in the countryside. The scariest one is a skinny 6ft 4ins vegan with a rape alarm which is set off in the middle of empty fields in the vain hope of scaring distant badgers away from harm. A man carrying a gun who knows how to shoot it and is kitted out with infrared night-vision appears far more of a threat.

At this stage of the cull, the people who really should be speaking, however, are the Defra and Natural England monitors. This is supposedly a pilot cull but we do not have any information about how many badgers have been killed so far, how many have been injured, how the marksmen are ensuring clean kills, who is checking the badger body bags, how fiddling the figures or fraud will be prevented, whether there have been incidences of “unofficial” culling, and many other important details. With no clue about the monitors’ way of working, how can we be sure they are doing these proper checks?

I hate secrecy; everyone in a democracy should. People misbehave when they know they are free to act without scrutiny. The main reason for it in this situation is simple: the cullers know only too well that no amount of reassuring information about the cull’s efficiency, humaneness or safety can disguise the fact that badgers are being shot dead and most of the country finds this distressing and would like it to stop. The only thing that was not secretive in paranoid Somerset last week was Britain’s most elusive mammal. I saw five badgers roaming the countryside after dark: more than any monitors or marksmen. If they are to survive, they’ll have to learn their opponents’ habit of secrecy, and fast.

Badger cull: government refuses to deny marksmen failing to meet target

A minimum of 2,081 badgers must be killed in Somerset but sources say less than 100 have been shot in two weeks

·  Patrick Barkham and Adam Vaughan with video by Laurence Topham

·  theguardian.com, Thursday 12 September 2013 16.07 BST

The government has refused to deny that less than 100 badgers have been killed in Somerset over two weeks, a figure that would mean marksmen had culled less than 5% of the badgers they must shoot in six weeks for the cull to be judged a success.

Asked if a Weston-super-Mare dairy farmer’s claim that fewer than 100 been killed so far was accurate, a spokesman at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), would not confirm or deny the figure. “We are not commenting on operational details,” he said.

A source told the Western Daily Press that more than 60 marksmen working in West Somerset, one of two pilot cull zones, were experiencing major problems. “Only three or four badgers are being shot every day,” the source said. “It is just a case now of who gets the blame for the whole thing failing.”

However, a source close to the cull told the Guardian that such figures “rubbish” and “wildly out”, although they would not say how many badgers had been killed in Somerset.

Marksmen need to shoot 50 badgers each night to hit the target of killing a minimum of 2,081 badgers in the Somerset zone. If 70% of the estimated badger population is not dispatched in this way, the cull will be considered a failure by its own targets.

In his only comments on the cull so far, Owen Paterson, the environment secretary, said earlier this month: “I understand the pilot cull is proceeding to plan and those involved are pleased with progress to date.”

Derek Mead, a dairy farmer from Weston-super-Mare, told the same paper: “I understand the West Somerset badger cull may be failing to meet its own target, despite Owen Paterson’s assurances that the operation is proceeding according to plan.

“The information I have been given suggests that at the middle of last week, the number of badgers accounted for was still well below 100.”

Jay Tiernan of Stop the Cull said he was “flabbergasted” that so few badgers had been killed and called for the cull to be abandoned.

“It’s encouraging because we always thought the whole thing would be a farce but we didn’t realise it would be this bad for them and they wouldn’t be able to get anywhere near the numbers,” he said. “What are they hoping to achieve? The cull should be pulled.”

Mary Creagh, shadow environment secretary, attacked the government for not saying how many badgers had been culled. “Ministers have failed to answer my questions on how many badgers have been shot. Scientists have warned that a botched cull could spread bovine TB in cull areas, making things worse not better. Ministers should listen to the scientists and drop this cull which is bad for farmers, bad for taxpayers and bad for wildlife.”

Activists have struggled to find marksmen who are using night-vision equipment to track badgers and remained undetected but protesters believe that nocturnal “badger patrols” in the area have disrupted and deterred the gunmen.

Dry ground conditions have also forced badgers to roam further from their setts in search of food and activists believe the marksmen are unable to use fixed bait points as planned and are instead desperately searching hedgerows for lone badgers.

According to Tiernan, anti-cull campaigners have just raised £10,000 to fund night-vision kit similar to that used by the marksmen. “With more equipment we expect to have a much higher effectiveness at stopping the cull,” he said.

Another farmer who lives in the Somerset cull zone told the Guardian he was not aware whether marksmen were being successful or not, but said: “The fact that the antis are roaming around in the dark isn’t helping.”

Mead, an influential figure in the region, is in favour of gassing diseased badgers in their setts to control bovine TB in cattle, a technique which was scrapped by the government in 1982 after scientific experiments showed it was inhumane for badgers that received sub-lethal doses of the poison.

The Somerset farmer in the cull zone echoed Mead’s previous call for gassing to be adopted by the government. “It’s far more sensible,” he said. “You haven’t got the disposal problems and if they can identify setts that are affected by bovine TB you’re going to have less badgers to deal with.”

Romania: Further Update 10/9/13 – Are Government Pockets Being Lined With Gold ?, Are the Romanian Government / Regional Authorities Using Nationwide Stray Animal Killing To Divert Attention Away From Gold Mine Public Protests In the Country ?

RMNA0001

Romania 4

ROMANIA – Further Update 10/9/2013

The Greed of Gold and Stray Catching !

Gold is discovered near to the capital – people are taking to the streets in objection to the way it will be mined – using Cyanide – Is the Romanian government very much making a lot more with the press and media over the stray dog issue as a way of very much diverting attention away from their own dealings in the gold mine – and what will line who’s pockets with the money that is made from the gold mining if it does ever get to commence ?

So, regardless of what can be viewed as a bit of a cover up, which instead has attempted to get attentions diverted to the stray dog issue and the alleged killing of a child by stray animals, even this is very much in doubt now.

Here, we will provide you with some links; proof of the other side which the Romanian government don’t want you to see – instead, they only wish to divert attention away from their gold mine actions and instead concentrate on the issue of stray dogs (and cats).

See the information below in “Life for a stray dog in Romania” to see how much money is being given (largely by the EU) for stray dog controls.  Like other nations in Europe which we have exposed on this site; Romania government does not want to invest the money into the sterilisation of stray animals; thereby gradually reducing their numbers over time.

Instead, they wish to retain the current policy of capturing and killing as many stray animals as possible – it has become a very lucrative business for some.  It could be stated that their pockets are being lined with gold – and now they also have found a gold mine, well ………………………….

IT HAS COME TO LIGHT THAT THIS COULD BE A CASE OF THE ROMANIAN GOVERNMENT USING THE STRAYS ISSUE TO COVER UP AN INFANTS ATTACK BY A PEDOPHILE AND CHILD MURDERER TO GET A VOTE TO SUPPORT THE SLAUGHTER OF THE STRAYS

Gold mine links:

“Gabriel has been beset over the years by a series of problems in getting the green light for the project. Local citizens have been up in arms over what they say will be the virtual destruction of their village. Critics say the area’s heritage, including 2,000-year-old Roman mining corridors and Rosia Montana’s historic centre, are threatened, while environmentalists and the local public are concerned over the use of cyanide in the extraction process”.

Information that has been supplied to SAV – un edited:

Life for a stray dog in Romania

According to a calculation of Helping Animals in ten years, Romania has not only improved stray animals, but increased. And the profits are soaring.

*** Sterilization instead only costs 20-25 euros per dog. ***

Perhaps this is the reason why politicians and companies have no interest in the stray issue being  interrupted.

 Romania 4

Dear all,

The case of the 4 year old child killed by dogs is becoming more and more blurry and uncertain for many people who are starting to ask questions and wonder.

The child was found approximately 1 km away from the park and in order to get there he would have had to walk a highly difficult road even for an adult! Especially for a child!? He should have passed a steep and then pass homeless people.

Furthermore, the majority observes the attitude and behaviour of the parents, which are constantly present in the TV studios, especially the mother who is awkwardly relaxed and untroubled. In order to counter-balance this relaxation, some journalists resort to shocking titles, by expressing their own suffering, by photos. There are more and more details which do not make sense and which do not fit the story. And the grandmother who lost sight of the child is not in any way legally accused or pursued, not even interogated!

On the contrary, the entire fault is attributed to the NGOs!!!!!!

A continuous and intense campaign, full of lies, calumnies, accuses, unimaginable scenarios regarding the animal lovers, especially the NGOs, is undertaken by the televisions, especially by “Antena 3” (please, send protests to site@antena3.ro ).

The animal welfare NGOs are merely „bastards who steal the state’s money”, which have „turned rich by exploiting the strays problem”, which have „done businesses with the mayors for huge amounts of money”, „impostors, fake animal lovers, only ruled by their own interests”. The loss of credibility towards the NGOs has occurred and thus the people are starting to talk about the NGOs like entities for which the „truth” is only now surfacing. Fake statistics, images with „fearsome” strays, interviwes with „terrorized” citizens, have fully occupied the TV broadcasts these days! Fake histories, forged documents are presented to the population!

For 10 days the televisions are debating and are histerically yelling and screaming on the same subject!

A campaign without precedent in Romania, led mainly by Antena 3, hides INCREDIBLE POLITICAL STAKES AND INTERESTS! An unimaginable vizual and psichological pressure! A mediatic destruction which was never met before!

We have managed to defeat a political force by stopping mass euthanasia in 2011! Now their strategy has changed by creating such a public pressure, which, supposedly, will put pressure on the political bodies! The loss of credibility of the NGOs, of the animal lovers, currently represent the priority of the country! Once these occurred, they lead to the meeting of various objectives having collosal financial implications!

They have manipulated the collective mentality in such a way that the people themselves have massacred strays in the streets, people are abusing and hitting them, the public dog pounds are emptied over night, a national dog cathing procedure has begun, the dog catchers even enter the properties of the people. They have entered so deeply in the psyche of the people that the people have started to denigrate each other, to mutilate one another!

TODAY (10/9/13) , at 12:00 AM, THE MASS MURDERING OF THE STRAYS IS BEING DECIDED!

The protests against the gold extraction by cyanides in Rosia Montana has brought 10.000 people in the streets, for 9 days. This is a protest without precedent in Romania but still the televisions only rarely present this subject. Nonetheless they are constantly debating the subject of the child killed by the strays!

Only the joint and distructive forces they resorted to in a premeditated manner show us just how high the stake really is!

We need foreign pressure and interventions, in any ways possible!

We hereby kindly ask you to organize protests in front of the Romanian embassyes/consulates, please attempt to show in the foreign press the diabolique interests of the statal authorities in Romania as well as the way in which they meet their objectives! The corruption has surpassed all limits in Romania and it can no longer be controlled!

Thank you!

Carmen ARSENE

 Liebe Freunde,

Besten Dank!

http://actionaidforanimals.blogspot.de/2013/09/the-war-has-begun-how-romanian.html

THE WAR HAS BEGUN

– How the Romanian Government are using the death of a young child to misuse public funds and begin the vile massacre of Romanian Strays

URGENT – CHECK OUR PETITION UPDATE – IT HAS COME TO LIGHT THAT THIS COULD BE A CASE OF THE ROMANIAN GOVERNMENT USING THE STRAYS TO COVER UP AN INFANTS ATTACK BY A PEDOPHILE AND CHILD MURDERER TO GET THAT VOTE TO SLAUGHTER THE STRAYS…HOW LOW WILL THE ROMANIAN GOVERNMENT SINK TO GET THAT VOTE?

NEW FOOTAGE BY JOURNALISTS FOLLOWING THE ROUTE THE 4 YEAR OLD WOULD HAVE HAD TO TAKE TO GET TO WHERE HIS BODY WAS FOUND…A ROUTE BY THE GRANDMOTHERS STATEMENT WOULD HAVE TOOK HIM 45 MINS TO MAKE  ( SHE STATES OUT OF HER SIGHT FOR JUST 45 MINS)

YOU WILL SEE IN THE CLIP THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN AN IMPOSSIBLE TASK FOR A 4 YEAR OLD TO COMPLETE. PROVING THE COVER UP AND HOW ROMANIA’S GOVERNMENT WOULD RATHER PROTECT A PEDOPHILE AND CHILD MURDERER IF IT GIVES THEM THE EXCUSE TO MASSACRE THE DOGS AND MAKE SOME EASY MONEY.

THE WAR HAS BEGUN

A few days ago sadly a young child and a sibling was in a Romanian park was left unsupervised by the grandmother. Sadly the boy was attacked and killed by a stray dog the boys name was Ionut, his brother also was bitten but this was not fatal . We do not know what provoked the attack, or who was to blame

This most certainly was an awful thing to happen to any child, to any family. Across Europe we know this is a rare occurrence. However this single child’s death has given the Romanian government the perfect excuse to declare war on the strays and line their vile pockets with public money.

The Romanian government right now are cruelly catching every stray they can see in every town and village and horrifically battering, poisoning and stabbing them to death. Tiny puppies, pregnant bitches NONE are being spared the barbarity

For every dog caught, killed, cremated the local dog pound invoices its local city hall on average 120 euros each dog, the city hall then take from the public purse (local tax payers) and sends a nice hefty cheque back to the dog catchers and city pound that are normally related in some form or another to the mayor of the city hall or the mayor is on the dog catchers payroll.

Now do you see why they need public backing, why the scaremonger tactics?

They are not asking for the citizens permission to kill the dogs, they are asking the citizens if they can con them out of the taxes they pay the city halls!!!

THIS ENTIRE EXERCISE AND SCAREMONGER TACTICS IS A BLATANT MISUSE OF PUBLIC FUNDS, SOMETHING THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION CAN STOP AND INVESTIGATE

……………………………………………………………………………………………

Please help us to stand up for the strays of Romania and end this one sided, unfounded and barbaric massacre now by completing the following I whatever order you wish:

Step 1 – Educate yourself on the situation, read the information and stats below to understand why this barbaric war on the strays is a smoke screen and why it needs to be stopped.

Step 2 – Click here and sign the petition adding your own personal comment to why this must be stopped. Give your voice to those that cannot speak for themselves.

Step 3 – Share and cross post this red alert on yours and others social pages. In emails and anywhere that will help this red alert go viral as soon as possible.

Step 4 – For even greater impact, make your way through the emails and telephone numbers, face book pages and so on, contacting the people in power that can and should stop this vile war from continuing. Some example letters have been provided below. (Please do change and add your own words. This really will have a greater impact than a generic letter sent by others)

………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

STEP 1

(EDUCATE/ARM YOURSELF WITH THE FACTS)

Romanian Government lies:

LIES – Romanian stray dogs are dangerous and MUST be eradicated by all means necessary.

The Romanian government claim that their stray dogs are a terrible threat to public safety( using the death of a poor child to spur this war), so we compared recorded stray dog attacks in other European countries in comparison to Romania’s. We then compared the human population of each of those countries in comparison to Romania’s. After all if dogs are a threat to humans, we must take into account the human population in comparison to the attacks.

This is what the Stats prove:

FACT – Despite having a higher amount of strays on the streets in comparison to other European countries , they have a lower year on year rate of dog attacks ( See our data at end of this red alert) to the majority of other EU countries.

FACT – You are no more likely to be attacked by a dog in other European countries than you are buy a stray dog in Romania.

FACT – You more likely to be attacked by a owned pet dog in Germany, UK or Italy than you are from a feral street dog in Romania ( see stats below) The Romanian Government are lying not just to its own people but to the rest of Europe.

This cruelty MUST STOP

This massacre MUST STOP

This Fraud MUST STOP

This lies MUST STOP

The European commission already have a petition from (Kendra Pinder) Action Aid for Animals on the table that was presented last year that is still open, warranting an investigation into Romanian Governments misuse of public funds they need to action this immediately.

The European commission MUST ACT NOW and demand a stop to this massacre pending a full investigation into the basis of this war on strays. This is NOT about controlling the population of domestic strays, this is a cover to commit fraud of their own countries citizens taxes on a mass scale by the Romanian Govenment.

FACTS AND FIGURES PROVING THE WAR ON STRAYS BY THE ROMANIAN GOVERNMENT IS BUILT ON LIES

Germany Dog Attacks 303.031 – Population 82,302,465

Italy Dog Attacks 213,446 – Population 60,550,848

UK Dog Attacks 221,583 – Population 62,035,570

France Dog Attacks 222,147 – Population 62,787,427

Ukraine Dog Attacks 175,485  –  Population 45,448,329

Spain Dog Attacks 148,091 – Population 46,076,989

Romania Dog Attacks 82,189 – Population 21,486,371

Belgium Dog Attacks 38,045  – Population 10,712,066

Austria Dog Attacks 30,054 – Population 8,393,644

The Romanian government states its strays are so very dangerous towards humans.

YET other European countries who have a higher rate of dog attacks, or lower Human population but higher dog attack ratio advocate sterilisation NOT BARBARIC AND UNFOUNDED MASSACRES.

This is because unlike Romania WE DO NOT use our domestic stray population to defraud our citizens.
