USA: Brigitte Bardot (Foundation) Speaks for People and Sends a Clear Message to Governor Palin

Brigitte Bardot has this week delivered a brilliant and superbly strong, short and clear message to Governor Palin on the issues of aerial wolf hunting, the environment and Polar bears / endangered species lists.

In her message with devastating blows, Brigitte sums up the feelings to Governor Palin that all animal welfare and environmentally aware people across the World have.

In her closing sentence, Brigitte simply declares:

“I hope that you lose this election, because then the whole world will win !”

Bravo to the Fondation Brigitte Bardot for being the voice of caring environmental people across the planet who will endorse every single word.

The letter from Brigitte is as follows:

Paris, 7 Octobre 2008
Madame Sarah Palin
Gouverneur d’Alaska
P.O. Box 110001
Juneau, AK 99811-0001
USA

Governor,

More than two years ago, I contacted your predecessor to denounce the
cruelty of aerial wolf hunting. Today I am shocked to learn that you firmly support this cowardly practice, both morally and financially.

Your fight to keep polar bears off the Endangered Species list even though they are threatened by global warming demonstrates your total
irresponsibility, your inability to protect or even respect animal life, but
it’s true that for you, a good animal is a dead one!

By campaigning for drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge,
you are putting an already fragile habitat at risk, as well as all the
biodiversity of a sensitive area that must absolutely be preserved.

Governor, by denying man’s responsibility for global warming, by being a proponent of the right to bear arms and shoot anything that moves, by making numerous declarations of alarming stupidity, you bring shame upon women and represent, all on your own, a terrible threat, a true ecological catastrophe.

Defending life means showing compassion for all the beings that populate this ailing earth. Since we are only on this earth for a short time, think of what you are leaving behind for future generations. ..

To finish, I beg you to no longer refer to yourself as a ‘pit bull with
lipstick’, since I can assure you that no pit bull, no dog, nor any other
animal is as dangerous as you.

In the name of the respect and preservation of nature,
I hope that you lose this election, because then the whole world will win!

Brigitte Bardot
President

Serbia : 3rd October 2008 – Some Very Promising News About Serbian Animal Welfare

We would like to share some wonderful news with you all, our friends and fellow campaigners.  Below is the ‘Public Notice’ which has been distributed by Slavica Mazak  (EPAR) http://www.epar.org.yu/  and Zlata  Korjenic (Help Animals,Beograd) www.helpanimals.org.rs on Friday 3rd October 2008.  A Serbian language copy of the notice can be viewed by accessing  obavestenje-za-javnost-no-kill-sterlizacija-strategija-031008doc

PUBLIC NOTICE

The day of October 3rd 2008 is of historic importance for the cats and dogs in Serbia, just like October 5th 2000 is important for the citizens of Serbia. Until today, there has been no such achievement in the matter of support to the International Animal’s Day.

Upon the initiative of the Animal welfare organization ‘’PRIJATELJ’’ from Subotica and the Organization for aid to the abandoned animals ‘’Help Animals’’ from Belgrade, on October 3rd 2008,

the Veterinary Directorate of the Republic of Serbia and Standing Conference of Cities and Municipalities in Serbia, have decided to, as Mr.Zoran Mićović, Head of the Veterinary Directorate said (quotation): ‘’…from this moment we will take part in the REALISATION OF THE PROJECT OF NATIONAL No Kill spay/neuter strategy in solving the problem of cats and dogs population’’.

According to Mr.Mićović, the Project will be realized in cooperation with the European Union.

This decision was made in the Veterinary Directorate office, in the presence of:

  1. Mr.Zoran Mićović, Head of the Veterinary Directorate
  2. Mr. Zvonimir Rot, Councilor of the Head of the Veterinary Directorate
  3. Mr.Budimir Plavšić, Head of the Animal welfare department, the Veterinary Directorate
  4. Mrs. Slavica Mazak Bešlić, M.Sc.Dr.Med., President of the animal welfare organization “PRIJATELJ’’
  5. Mrs.Zlata Korjenić, President of the Organization for aid to abandoned animals “Help Animals” from Belgrade

Apart from the decision that in Serbia, for the first time in Balkan region countries, will be implemented the only humane way of control of cats and dogs’ population, it has also been decided to abolish the implementation of the Act on Terms and Measures for Humane Catching and Destroying of stray cats and dogs (Official Herald RS, no.29/94) This means that as of today, October 3rd 2008, not a single cat or a dog can be killed by any zoo-hygiene service in the Republic of Serbia.

Furthermore, this is a signal to all local governments in Serbia (135) to immediately start with implementation of the republic Law on Veterinary practice (The local government is obliged to organize a zoo-hygiene service on its territory for the following activities) and of the Paragraph 1 of this Article (to catch and place the abandoned animals in the animal shelters)

The signees of this Notice have started the initiative to proclaim the October 3rd 2008 for the Animal Day in Serbia, and to celebrate it each year accordingly.

The signees of this Notice would like to express their deep gratitude to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and to the Veterinary Directorate.

We would also like to express our special gratitude to Mr.Saša Dragin, the Minister and to Mr.Zoran Mićević, Head of the Veterinary Directorate, for their personal engagement in this issue.

Handle With Care – Australia’s Disgusting Live Export Trade Exposed

** Warning – Extreme animal suffering **

http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=_V_o6jtuFgY

http://www.handlewithcare.tv/ciwf/

Every week, hundreds of millions of farm animals endure journeys lasting hours, days, weeks or months, in cramped conditions on their way to slaughter.

They experience stress and exhaustion, rough handling, hunger and thirst, extreme temperatures and unsanitary conditions as they are transported live across the world. As a result, the animals suffer horrific injuries, diseases are spread and many die before reaching their destination.

We already have the technology to transport fresh chilled and frozen meat and the science to prove the welfare benefits of local, humane slaughter. For these reasons, long distance transport is not only cruel, it is unnecessary.

Live transport causes suffering on a massive scale: more than 1,000,000,000 animals are transported every single week, many on unnecessary and long journeys.

VERY URGENT APPEAL FROM JELENA’S SHELTER (SERBIA)

This is an URGENT appeal please to help Jelena’s shelter.

You can view the work of Jelena’s shelter at the following liknks:

https://serbiananimalsvoice.wordpress.com/2008/09/07/please-give-support-to-jelenas-shelter-now-thank-you/

https://serbiananimalsvoice.wordpress.com/2008/05/12/jelenas-shelter-serbia-2/

The bakery which supplies bread to the shelter every day to help feed the animals has cut off its supply until bills are paid –  over 250 loaves of bread have to be purchased daily to be mixed with other food which is being provided as a regular diet to the dogs at the shelter, and so the bread is a vital part of the dogs / shelters daily requirements.

If you are able to help by giving a donation, or can put this mail out to anyone you know who may be able to help, then please can you do it.

Full Bank details for donations are provided in the first of the two links above – please scroll down towards the end of the article.

Please help in any way you can – no matter how small.

Thank You.
