Slovenia and Wallonia ban Halal slaughter

With a clear decision, the Slovenian Constitutional Court ended a lengthy discussion on the slaughter of animals without anesthesia, meaning the flesh “halal”, as demanded by Islam. This remains banned in Slovenia, the judges unanimously confirmed. The Muslim community has requested the review of this law.
The ban on anesthetic slaughter also comes into force in Wallonia.

No violation of religious freedom

The country’s supreme court argued that the constitution did not allow animals to be easily avoided for unjustifiable causes and that the law did not disproportionately affect the right to religious freedom.
The Muslim community sees this differently, arguing that the method of ritual slaughter prescribed by Islamic law, which does not provide for stunning, is an integral part of the Muslim religion – and thus also of its religious freedom.

Shedding is considered an animal torture

However, the Constitutional Court insists that the protection of animals against torture contributes to the observance of important moral principles.
A state can prohibit acts that run counter to the basic rules and moral framework of a society without unduly interfering with the right to religious freedom, said the judges, who unanimously passed their decision.

Animal welfare law: no slaughter without anesthesia

The animal protection law prohibits not only the ritual slaughter in Islam, but any kind of slaughter without anesthesia. Although this hampers access to Halal meat, it does not prevent it because Halal-standard slaughter is possible abroad, the judges argued.

My comment: Josef Schuster, President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany (ZJD) has a different opinion: “The ban on the slaughter without stunning, which is now also in force in Wallonia, is another sign that religious freedom is under attack across Europe.” !!

His hope “… that the European Court will lift the ban …” will hardly be fulfilled. A ban on slaughter without stunning does not violate religious freedom, ritual slaughter is not a service of God. It is a barbaric animal cruelty!

At the same time we condemn without prejudice the annually thousands of “false stunning” in German slaughterhouses.

Despite decades of protests from animal rights activists and responsible citizens, these crimes continue to be practiced, even though they are unlawful under the law.

It is disappointing and shameful for President of ZJD not to understand that animals are sentient beings, our fellow creatures with the same feelings, sensitivities, sensations, needs and social structures with which cold-blooded people commit the worst crimes as if they were not animals, but machines or objects.

What is this life-despising religion that allows an archaic, gruesome, anesthetic-free slaughter of animals?

“For the animals every day is Treblinka,” said the countryman of Mr. Suster, Isaac Bashevis Singer, and not only in relation to the shafts.
The President of the Central Council of Jews should urgently recall these words of a Jew.

The world: a cemetery

August 28, 2019 – 9:49 am, Greenpeace

Everything we see down there is dead”

If you have not seen it with your own eyes, it’s hard to imagine what the fires are doing in the Brazilian rainforest. “This is not just a forest fire, it’s a cemetery, everything we see down there is dead,” says Greenpeace activist Rosana Villar. She flew over the affected area to get an impression and she is appalled. In the video we show how the local people suffer from the fires.

The G7 wanted to support the Brazilian government with money for firefighting.

But the president, Jair Bolsonaro, does not want to accept the help. Instead, he demands that the French president apologize to him. He now had to take criticism from his governors. The regional leaders of the Amazon region fear a huge image damage, if Bolsonaro continues to do so.

“If Brazil isolates itself at the international level, it will face serious trade sanctions against our producers,” said Flavio Dino, the head of state of Maranhão. “I think we should now take care of our problems,” says Hélder Barbalho, governor of Pará.

Defense Minister: “It is not out of control”

The number of fires has now increased to 82,000, as the Brazilian space agency INPE announced. Many fires were apparently laid by farmers, who want to create more space for fields around pastures.

But because it is just as dry in the region, the flames repeatedly attack forest areas and cause great destruction.

The government has now sent the military to the Amazon region to fight the fires. About 2,500 soldiers, 15 aircraft and helicopters and ten ships are in operation, said the Ministry of Defense.

Some fires had already been pushed back. Is the situation serious? ” Yes, but it has not got out of hand, “said Defense Secretary Fernando Azevedo. Hopefully he will be right, because the dry season has just begun.

If you look at space from space, it seems that also parts of Africa are completely burning: every red dot represents a fire within the last seven days – the earth’s surface in parts of central and eastern Africa is barely recognizable.

In addition to Brazil and Africa, Indonesia is also suffering from devastating forest fires: According to the Indonesian Ministry of the Environment, 42,740 hectares of rainforest were affected by fires nationwide in the first five months of this year – even before the dry season had even begun. That is almost twice the area of the previous year.

With a total of 95 million hectares of tropical forest, Indonesia is one of the most important countries for rainforest protection.

My comment: Nobody really seems to know what kind of biblical catastrophe threatens our planet. That’s why nobody seems to care.
In contrast, every minute was recorded during the fire of Notre Dame and within days were collected over 900 million euros in donations.

Will a restored cathedral help us if we have no more air to breathe?

Brazil: 3.800 cows are threatened with death

A transport ship from Brazil with 3,800 cattle on board is anxious to enter the port of Cartagena on Monday, August 26th.

The CBN reported the Easy Horse Rescue Center from Rojales, which had received information from the transport company. In Cartagena, the livestock transporter Julia AKusually stops on the route from South America to Turkey in order to charge food and water for the animals.

This time it appears that this will prevent a new court order and the port administration will not give the ship a green light. The company believes that the legal hurdle in a few days to master – but that is too much for the hungry and “rather lightweight” animals. They would not survive.

Sue Weedingof the “Animal Sanctuary”: “This story and the plight of these cows is especially timely considering the fires in the Brazilian Amazon. The livestock sector accounts for 80 percent of the rainforest’s deforestation. If the forest is cleared for animals that then starve to death under unreasonable conditions at sea, it is pathological and a huge waste of environmental resources. ”

My comment: And if the legal hurdle can not be mastered in a few days?

The “Amazon method” is used: Let the animals starve to death, there are only 3,800 cows less!!
If Brazil burns thousands of animals in the Amazon with fire, why would the company hesitate to send 3,800 cows to their deaths?

No! It is not only pathological how Brazil deals with animals and nature.

It is a fascist, criminal extermination method of some oligarchs Brasils for profit.

Update from Mark 2145hrs GMT 27/8:

We are watching this ship actions via satellite, just as we did the ‘Al Shuwaikh’ with the Romanian sheep.

It is currently South East of Almeria / San Jose – Spain – Mediterranean Sea.

At the moment we know the vessel is underway to the South of Spain doing about 13.5 knots – we will see what happens on 28/8.  They can run but they cannot hide – we are watching them all the time.

Regards Mark

The strength lies in unity

No organization, no animal rights group or association alone has the power to change the misery of the animals. We don`t know exact if direct actions, animal liberation or demonstrations can be effective.

One thing has shown us the experience: ALL actions together can bring results and if we hold together then the probability is even greater.

But most of all, we must never allow ourselves to be deprived of action and resistance, by arbitrary taboos, or by intimidation of our powers, because the presentation of animal suffering to the public is our most important weapon.

Every direct action is a reminder of the essential, and that is the pain, the suffering, the slavery of animals in farms and everywhere.
Above all, let us not allow this system to take away the fight for the rights of animals and our freedom to think and speak.

truths…

“We are in the middle of a period of great species extinction, but most people are blind to it, they are so busy with their trivial circus, anthropocentric pastimes, sports, art, gossip, politics, wine, food and entertainment.
People fiddle while the earth is burning. “

Amazonas: now only paying helps!

Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro is a major threat to Latin America’s largest democracy to date. Because he is a proponent of dictatorship, torture, the death penalty and the machine gun in every living room.

Bolsonaro has already stated in the election campaign that he would have accepted no result other than his victory. He never recognized his rival candidate Fernando Haddad as a political rival. He described him and his supporters as “red bandits” who should be “wiped out”.

He announced that he will imprisone Haddad, without saying for what offense. He spoke of a “purge, such as Brazil has not yet seen.” There is no democratic rule of play that Bolsonaro has not yet broken, no elemental human right that he has not yet threatened.

It is therefore not necessary to seek historically clear concepts such as “fascism”. Also no comparison with Trump, Duterte, Pinochet or even with Hitler helps now further to describe the Brazilian`s head of state.
Suffice it to call Jair Bolsonaro what he is: a glorifier of violence. A proponent of dictatorship, torture, the death penalty, the machine gun in every living room.

In Congress, his party represents the second largest faction. He is also supported by a cross-party alliance of religious fundamentalists, ex-military and landowners. This so-called Bancada BBB, the bible, lead and bull faction, will be jointly owned by a majority.

Almost everything that threatens Bolsonaro sounds so absurd that the suspicion arises that it is tasteless jokes. Demoscopes are amazed at a strange phenomenon: many of his voters said it was not a problem to vote for him because he would not implement what he said. That has proved to be error!

This was not a choice left-wing extremism or right-wing extremism, between plague and cholera, as many have claimed from the social center to justify Bolsonaro’s support. It was, in order to stay in the picture, more of a choice between a cold and heart attack. Brazil has decided to infarct.

One of the key projects of Bolsonaro’s dictatorship was from beginning the release of the Amazon for economic exploitation. A chainsaw massacre is imminent. Bolsonaro also openly considered leaving the Paris agreement on climate change, in which Brazil plays a key role.

Bolsonaro is not only a threat to Brazil, but to the entire world. The Brazilian Amazon, the world’s largest rainforest, plays an essential role in halting climate change. Bolsonaro, as well as the military and agricultural lobbyists who have power with him, deny it. But the burning Amazon proves it.

This planet is already punished with a president Donald Trump.
It can not tolerate President Jair Bolsonaro anymore
!

My comment: Only France and Ireland are in favor of a blockade of the Mercosur Treaty, Germany is ONLY outraged.

The EU is the biggest soy buyer of Brazil, the rainforest is burning to feed our pigs.

But there is another question:  Why does Germany want to remain loyal to a contract if the partner has proven to be an environmental terrorist?

We have petitions, donations, worldwide protests, massive media war even from the conservative side.
But we still have not made the most important thing: the abolition of the Mercosur Treaty.

And it will not happen because: the federal government is against the Blocade of the Mercosur Agreement.

“The agreement contains an ambitious sustainability chapter with binding climate change regulations “ a government spokesman said, ” a non-closure would not be the appropriate response to what’s happening in Brazil right now.  We must support Brazil in its efforts to quickly overcome this severe crisis”!!!

Which would be the “appropriate” response?

The Bolsonaro government does not make any “efforts” and sees no “crisis”; The “forest fires” are indeed targeted slash-and-burn, Bolsonaro must tolerate them, for which the sponsors have brought Bolsonaro into office. He is the puppet of violent landowners. He is much worse than a fascist. A guru-obedient clown with an obscure environment, extremely reactionary, a plaything in the hands of powerful landlords and industrial bosses.

Which would be the “appropriate” solution?

The Hambi forest in Germany only survived because some people chained to trees, not because we suddenly discovered our environmental awareness.

That means we have to take to the streets if we want to save our planet.
