Close Down the ‘Bonsai Kitten’ Web Site – Action Needed Now Please

VERY IMPORTANT:  

Firstly, SAV need to make it clear that WHAT IS SHOWN ON THIS SITE BELOW IS A COMPLETE FAKE; PAST INVESTIGATIONS HAVE PROVED THIS.  

You’ve probably heard about the Bonsai Kitten Web site, which claims to be selling kittens who have been stuffed into bottles and drugged in order to make them grow in the shape of the bottle.

Unfortunately, there are some mentally deranged cranks out there who get a real twist from this kind of thing – we say they need to be stopped, and stopped now !  

This whole web site NEEDS TO BE CLOSED DOWN, and you can help to do this.

Uk: Please Sign the Petition for an 8 Hour Limit on Animal Journeys

Leading MEP calls for a limit of 8 hours on transport to slaughter

Compassion in World Farming is delighted to be joining forces with MEP Neil Parish in support of his petition calling for an EU-wide limit of 8 hours on journeys to slaughter. Neil is Chairman of the European Parliament’s influential Agriculture Committee as well as being Chair of the Parliament’s Intergroup for Animal Welfare. Working with MEPs from across Europe, Neil aims to get a million signatures on the petition.

The timing of this new initiative is spot on. The EU Transport Regulation is to be reviewed shortly. A million signature petition could help spell the end of the long slaughter journeys which criss-cross Europe and cause so much suffering.

Cyprus: Dog Tied to Balcony for Over Four Hours in Crucifix position – Please Sign Petition Calling for Owners to be Prosecuted

Prosecute the owners and save the abused dog

On 21/05/2008 in Cyprus a distraught English resident rang Argos Sanctuary to report that a dog was tied to the balcony railings (like in the crucifixtion) of an apartment.
Argos immediately reported it to the local police and the police went to the flat but by that time the dog had been moved inside the apartment – (the tortured animal had been tied like that for 4 hours!!)  As the police found the dog inside they could not prove who it was that had tied the dog to the balcony.  The Police spoke to the dog owner and as there was not enough proof who had actually commited this terrible act, they said nothing could be done. 

Argos Sanctuary decided to take the case to court but the police closed it due to lack of evidence.  The President of Argos had a meeting on 05/08/08 with the Ministry to reopen the case and they now need your support.

This poor creature is still with the owners who subjected it to this horrific cruelty and God only knows what other acts of cruelty it has been subjected to since. 

We desperately need your support to prioritise this case so they can save this tortured animal and prosecute the owners.

Protest against the massacre of stray animals in Bulgaria

Two Bulgarian citizens witnessed a cruel massacre of animals at the Plovdiv animal camp (isolator) in Bulgaria on February 8, 2008: Two animal keepers slayed 14 stray dogs with iron bars.

Article 6 and article 7 of the Bulgarian animal protection act prohibit “the infliction of pain and every act or omission of an act, that causes permanent or repeated suffering for the animal”.

Call on Attorney General Boris Velchev, the Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Plugtschieva and Plovdiv’s Mayor Slavcho Atanossov for a humane treatment of the stray animals in Bulgaria!

Dear Friends,

During my three week holiday in Kerala, South India, I did some volunteer work for a local dog center, Animal Rescue Kerala (ARK). This charity trust let by a British woman takes in ill-treated dogs and street dogs to have them vaccinated and sterilised. ARK is the only organisation that implements the ABC/AR (Animal Birth Control / Anti Rabies) Rules; a programme set up by the national government to control the stray dog population and to prevent the spread of rabies.
 
However, their work has been made impossible due to the interference of the City of Trivandrum (capital of the state Kerala) that kills dogs on a massive scale and in a very brutal manner. To help ARK with their fight against the indiscriminate killings and to help them continue their wonderful work rescuing ill-treated or undernourished dogs I created a blog (http://godsdogcountry.blogspot.com/) for them. Please have a look and sign the petition.

A 100.000 signatures are needed in order to take the City of Trivandrum to the Supreme Court in Delhi. They have got just over 20.000, so a mere 80.000 to go.
