TIME IS SHORT: a preliminary hearing will be held on MARCH 15. 

In a most cruel, bizarre and inconceivable method, a dog owner has been charged with extreme animal cruelty as he tried in a most heinous way to neuter his dog.  By the time the blind dog was located on the property, he was cowering in a bedroom unable to move. He was taken to the vet who advised authorities that additional and serious injuries were discovered clearly indicating beatings and torture. This petition complete with signatures will be presented to the trial judge prior to sentencing by our representatives in the New Mexico area.  The more signatures obtained, the stronger the motivation upon the DA, and ultimately the judge to fine Mr. Dickey the maximum penalty of $5,000 as well as prosecute and convict him to the maximum sentence.

As a brief recap; according to New Mexico news sources, 22 year old James Dickey has been cited for extreme animal cruelty when he (allegedly) burned his dog’s testicles. Charlie, formerly known as Angel, suffered severe torture and abuse when his owner (allegedly) tried to neuter him by setting his scrotum and testicles on fire. The accused, a resident of Rio Rancho Township in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was arrested and booked into the Sandoval County Detention Center on Jan. 31. He is currently out on bond. 
The criminal complaint alleges that Dickey repeatedly tortured his dog, a shepherd named Charlie (Angel), on Jan. 23. The Rio Rancho Police Department’s was notified by a neighbor who saw Dickey grab the cataract-blinded dog by his hind legs and drop-kick the dog several times and kick him into a yucca plant.  The dog’s testicles had been burned, according to the complaint. Dickey%u2019s %u201Creason%u201D was because he could not afford to have the dog neutered by a veterinarian. Of little surprise, Dickey denied abusing his dog when questioned by authorities. The abused dog was not returned to the man that is accused of beating and burning him. He has been placed with a new family. Animal Control continues to receive updates on his progress.  Dickey faces charges of animal cruelty – a fourth degree felony which could put him behind bars for a meager 18 months. Charlie continues to be treated by a veterinarian for his injuries, and is doing well.

In China, bears are farmed for their bile, which is used in traditional Chinese medicine. The bears are housed in coffin-size cages and the bile is extracted through a tube implanted in their gall bladders.

Bears farmed for their bile suffer immensely, Many get infections and liver cancer, and they typically only live 5 years compared with 25 years in the wild.

Now, the Gui Zhen Tang Pharmaceutical Corporation, which produces bear bile, wants inclusion in the Shenzheng Stock Exchange. Allowing this company into the stock exchange will send a message that bear bile farming is okay: We can’t let that happen.

Dear Mark,

Hi. I’m writing to you out of sheer desperation. I live in a small town called Allahabad  in India. We, as a family have been avid animal lovers and have always had dogs at home and who are treated as family. there’s no difference in treatment between them and people in our house.

In my country, unfortunately, poverty makes people do things they wouldn’t otherwise. add illiteracy and ignorance to it.. just multiplies the effect. and the fact that there is complete lack of facilities in this city. we can do so much and no more. and I want to change this here.

I have lost dogs due to this very reason – lack of proper diagnosis and treatment thereof. And the death of an old female donkey (which came knocking on our door from some place i have no idea about) due to severe internal complications, has made my resolve of opening a state of the art facility for these poor animals even stronger. I have a decent size family business which gives us more than enough to live life comfortably. And I have no intentions whatsoever to profit from treating animals and being able to save their lives.

I have no idea how to go about it, the cost, who to get in touch with (obviously not the govt. as theres only interference). I have to start with scratch. right from the donations to the land to the facilities.. i know its a mammoth task, but i will do it. im done seeing these creatures without a voice suffer for no fault of theirs.

I’d be grateful if you can help me in making my dream come true. In whatever way possible. Contacts in the US and UK, doctors, machines needed etc.. because theres nothing here.. nothing.. And those who actually care, end up frustrated due to limitations.

I see how beautifully these animals are taken care of in europe and america. the facilities you have.. we humans dont have them in India. At times i feel being born as an animal in this country is the biggest curse.

Sorry for taking so much of your time. I look forward to getting a positive reply from your end. i will do whatever you want me to as long as it helps the animals. Excellent care and treatment for them is all we want. it would bring the greatest joy to see them not die prematurely. to see them alive and well till their last days.

This is Bera from Shoumen. She was about 10 y.old. Lived outside a block of apartments. The locals loved her (did they?) One afternoon, 34 y.old, aggressive alcoholic Nikolaii Kamenov killed her- beating her with a metal pole and kicking her in front of mums, their kids and 10 men, who did NOTHING to save her. They feared for their lives! SHAME ON YOU!

This poor dog was tied with a chain to a car and made to run behind it. Naturally, the animal suffered an unimaginable torture and horrendous death. Djebel.

An unidentified man mercilessly cut off a stray dog’s throat. The tragedy happened on Saturday, 9/10/10 in Sofia, before the eyes of a few children. Shame!

This gorgeous, homeless cat suffered unimaginable cruelty and died a horrific, painful dead. A sadist took the poor animal and threw it with a full force on a concrete pathway. The cat struggled from its injuries for about 20 min before it died. Poor, poor thing! Children witnessed the horror. Poor kids! I can’t imagine the psychological damage they will suffer to the rest of their lives.

Little, sweet, 1 month old Richie. He was tortured, his left hind leg was cut off by unknown sadist. He was rescued, treated and re-homed.

Poisoning is a horrific way to die. The last moments of life are cursed with dizziness, convulsions or excruciating pain. For the lucky few, death comes within minutes — but far too often, it’s a slow and agonizing spiral that can take hours.

That was exactly Slyncho’s case. He was a quite, timid, lovable homeless dog, who NEVER EVER attacked anybody! He had a lady friend and use to accompany her and her own dog to their evening walk.
On 6/11/2010 someone poisoned him. His agony continued 3.5 hours! His friend could not get him to a vet clinic…she tried to find somebody willing to drive him to the vet, but nobody agreed. She managed to get a dose of anti-poison, but it was too late. In her heartfelt note to us she wrote:” I watched him helplessly, suffering in excruciating pain! His eyes were begging me for help…there was nothing I could do… ”

This is very disturbing. Not because it is more cruel that the rest of the documented murders and medieval style executions, but because the executors are GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS!!!

The tragedy happened yesterday in a small village in Bulgaria, called Palamartsa.

That man is the mayor of a tiny village in Bulgaria, called Romcha. His name is Mr ISKREN GEORGIEV. He orders mass-killings of the stray dogs and threatened to banish those kind-hearted people who feed them. He told the villagers: “I don’t care about any laws!” Full stop!

On March 26, 2010, a dog named Mima was found tortured, all her 4 legs brutally mutilated apparently over an old conflict between neighbors. Currently, animal cruelty is not a crime in Bulgaria. Thousands of their citizens protested and a proposal for a new law was sent to their Parliament to vote on.

As months progress, the situation in Bulgaria is getting worse. Animals and their advocates are now the target of more abuse from those who are angry of the attention their cause has received since Mima’s story of unimaginable torture came to light. A popular “journalist” who used his TV show as a platform for hate speech, even had a guest showing techniques on how to poison strays. And now most recently, the Mayor of a town called Pernik, has ordered the poisoning of strays- absolute massacre of dogs, including those in the municipal shelters!! Some of the recent atrocities throughout Bulgaria, in addition to the daily poisoning and random shooting of strays by maniacs at large: a kitten’s head was decapitated, more dogs being hung from a bridge or a tree, another mutilation case- most recently, a very young puppy, an 80 year old woman who was caring for stray cats was assaulted by her neighbors. When animal lovers report these atrocities to the police, they’re either apathetic or they laugh it off.

On July 2010, the Parliament vote result for incriminating animal cruelty was a 9/9 split. The majority party is expected to turn it down! The final voting was supposed to take place in September but months later, we still have no news. To add more outrage, Bulgaria’s court ruled to dismiss Mima’s case on the grounds that they can’t prove a human mutilated all her 4 legs! A mockery!!  We can not let Mima’s anguish be done in vain. The government’s inaction clearly shows that it is not listening to its people and international pressure is the only hope!  Please sign and share this petition which will generate the pre-written letter below. This message will automatically be emailed directly to each of the targeted Bulgarian officials’ inbox. BOYCOTT BULGARIA, its tourism and all products made in Bulgaria until its government does the right thing and join the rest of the civilized nations that have criminalized animal cruelty long ago!

Murder at Hasdal

This is one of the most heartbreaking stories of Hasdal.

This german shepherd arrived with small injuries in his legs caused by thorns and grass of the kind you encounter in the fields/forest. They were very painful, the dog couldn’t stand on his own, but they were not life threatening.

Knowing that Ismail Ay, the veterinarian of Hasdal would NOT bother treating those injuries and that the infection would quickly spread through the body we requested to take the animal to a private clinic immediately. This request was refused. Ismail Ay wanted to deal with the case himself… he then proceeded to drop the dog in an isolation cage and told the volunteers to stay away.

Days later even Ismail Ay was horrified when he entered the cage. The most disgusting smell inmediately hit him on the face and spread throughout the shelter.

It’s was the smell of rotten flesh and death. The dog lay there in a pool of blood ozzing from his legs. He was howling in absolute pain. Massive infection had spread throughout the body.

Ismail Ay then finally gave an order: Take that disgusting dog away from here!

The dog was rushed to a private clinic where he died soon afterwards. There was nothing anyone could do. He died a horrifying death caused by the professional negligence of Ismail Ay, the veterinarian at Hasdal.

Call Kadir Topbas, the Mayor of Istanbul NOW. Let him know the entire world is looking at this same in their computer screens and DEMAND the immediate stop of all operations at the Hasdal shelter.

Mr. Kadir Topbaş,

Do you consider yourself to be a voice for the public and protector of desolates ?

If so, this is the chance of your lifetime to show your community in Istanbul what an honest mayor you are.

Your image is currently shared all over Europe and I was wondering who this image belongs to.   The topic you are connected with is the cruelty and pain caused to animals in the Hasdal Istanbul shelter.   We are in a state of shock, watching the provided material about the Hasdal Istanbul shelter.  The images speak volumes.

Mr. Kadir Topbaş – step forward and allow the media to get access to this shelter.

If you have nothing to hide, why was the media not immediately allowed to get a glimpse behind locked doors ?

Is there anything you and your associates are currently trying to cover up ?

Why did you have a statement released, claiming those images were recorded in another country ?

The only reason why I personally joined Facebook was not for talking about the weather or the great architecture of a country – but for exposing a huge package of lies spread all over the world, in a different cause.

Literally overnight our campaign made it even on CNN, not to mention our voices were heard all over the world too.

In the meantime, the lies reported back then, have been uncovered in a court room.   There was no way to outrace the truth anymore, for those who tried desperately to fool the public.

Don ‘t underestimate the power of people’s unity, raising their voices for helpless animals who are dying in pain or from starvation in the Hasdal Istanbul shelter.

Just don’t underestimate it, Mr. Kadir Topbaş !

We will continue our drive until the truth is uncovered and the responsible people are brought to Justice for torturing innocent and helpless animals.

Being the Mayor of Istanbul, it is your duty to help the animals and make their lives worth living. 

You must act now, there is no time to loose anymore.   Too many already suffered huge pain and died in vain.

Think about it Mr. Kadir Topbaş and make that change.

Our Save Our Forests campaign is creating a national sensation! We now have a quarter of a million signatures on our petition — nearly three times the capacity of Wembley Stadium.

That’s because the we understand something the Government doesn’t: our natural forests are priceless, and once they’re gone – they’re gone forever.

Our campaign is already all over the news and politicians are getting increasingly nervous. That’s why the most important thing we can do right now is spread the word and ensure our petition continues to grow as quickly as possible.

Government ministers are trying to distract us with warm and fuzzy words about how much they love the forests. They’ve just announced a “consultation” on how we’d like our forests sold off – even though they already know most of us don’t want them sold off at all!

Even before this so-called consultation launches they’re busy trying to change the laws that currently protect public forests. This is blatantly clearing the way for a massive sell-off. What kind of consultation is that?

If they want consultation, here it is: 38 Degrees members chipped in to fund a national opinion poll which proved that 84% of the public want our forests kept in public hands for future generations.

Places like the Forest of Dean, the New Forest, Grizedale, Thetford, and Alice Holt are national treasures. We don’t want the natural places that belong to future generations flogged off for a quick cash grab today. But if we don’t rally together now, we may not have a choice.

Our petition already has over 250,000 names on it, including yours.
