Every year, millions of animals are killed for the clothing industry, and 85 percent of fur comes from the hell-on-Earth known as the “factory farm.” Animals on fur farms spend their entire lives confined to cramped, filthy wire cages where they have only enough room to take a few steps in any direction.

Fur farmers use the cheapest killing methods available, including neck-breaking, suffocation, poisoning, and anal or vaginal electrocution. Many animals are electrocuted by having rods inserted into their rectums and 240 volts of electricity sent through their bodies, frying the animals from the inside out in order to keep from damaging the pelt. The animals convulse, shake, and often cry out before suffering painful heart attacks. Crude killing methods aren’t always effective, and sometimes animals “wake up” while they are being skinned.

More than half the fur in the U.S. comes from China, where millions of dogs and cats are bludgeoned, hanged, bled to death, and sometimes even skinned alive for their fur. And Chinese fur is often deliberately mislabeled, so, if you wear any fur, there’s no way of knowing whose skin you’re in.

Donna Karan knows about the suffering that goes into every fur-trimmed coat, hat, and bag. She even promised to stop using fur in her designs but has gone back on her word. The Donna Karan line now contains the skins of dead rabbits.

Please take action and boycott Donna Karan, the bunny butcher, until she permanently removes all fur from her collections.

Serbia: New Epar Shelter Videos for You to View

The live footage wghich you see of Api with pups is that used by the con man who came into the shelter and tried to set up images to make it look very bad.  Api was shown as having no blankets or straw on which to lay as can be seen.  It was an attempt to pretend that the shelter was bad; but as you can see, the Epar shelter is excellent !

We must stress that this was an attempt by persons to give the shelter a bad name, and this has now become a police investigation.

and you can see that ALL animals have straw and hay in their houses, and have plenty of food available for them all the time.

The attempt to show Epar shelter as a bad place for animals has not worked, and we hope very soon the police will be able to take this case to a result.

Serbia to Apply for EU Candidate Status in 2009

Serbia to apply for EU candidate status in 2009

 

Belgrade, Dec 18, 2008 – Deputy Prime Minister for EU Integration Bozidar Djelic today stated that Serbia will apply for EU candidate status in 2009, a step which it will make with the cooperation of its EU partners.

 

Djelic told the press that the EU is to assess the implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement in order to consider the country’s candidacy.

Therefore, we will begin implementing the SAA from January 1, so that when the time comes the European Commission will positively assess Serbia’s application, he said.

Djelic also noted that Serbia will continue with its efforts and activities aimed at persuading the Netherlands to change its stance and give its consent for the application of the implementation of the Transitional Trade Agreement in Serbia.

He reiterated that Serbia is doing its best to locate the remaining two Hague indictees, voicing his hope that the Netherlands will be faced with more and more evidence of Serbia’s efforts to successfully conclude its cooperation with the Hague tribunal.

SAV Comment:

We know the Serbian government is not implementing its own national legislation in regard to animal welfare.  Implementation being shown to work within an EU member state is a fundamental requirement of membership, and so, Serbia does not qualify.

Over the next few days, we will be providing full MEP contact details for all existing EU citizens in order that they can ask that Serbia remains outside of the EU until No Kill and humane animal welfare policies are undertaken and proven to be working.

As existing  europeans and the Euro elections being held in the Summer of 2009, there is no better time than now to ask your existing MEPs to act on behalf of Serbian animals, and for you to cast your MEP vote at the elections based on the responses you get, if any.

Now the EU must show it is listening to its citizens, and more importantly, undertaking the requests of its citizens.

This disastrous auction is scheduled to take place in just two days — on December 19th — as a parting gift from the Bush-Cheney Administration to their friends in the oil and gas industries.

 

At stake are world-renowned vistas near Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, as well as near the Dinosaur National Monument. Even parts of Desolation Canyon, which have been proposed for national park status, will be on the auction block.

The highest bidders will earn the right to turn vast tracts of pristine wilderness into industrial wastelands.

I am sorry this is all chaotic, I just had an encounter with dog catchers, I begged them to give me two puppies that were in the van alone, and one of the shinters made jokes at me asking me, asking me to go out etc.  They then led me to believe they would give me the puppies, but then they just went, leaving me crying in the street.  Another lady saw it and felt sorry that I was crying and she begged the shinters too, but nothing.

Need urgent help. My friend is not keeping too well and doctors have advised treatment that can be done only by bringing down her resistance. Because of which she has become allergic to animal fur.
