Target: Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives
Goal: Don’t legalize the use of silencers on public lands to shoot and kill grizzly bears.
A number of Republican congressmen are now backing the NRA and the gun industry in their pursuit of new legislation that would lift strict regulations on where silencers can be used. If the new bill passes, hunters would have the ability to shoot grizzly bears on public lands using these devices, putting animals and potentially the public at risk. This is an inhumane proposal and it must not be allowed to pass.
Thanks to other recent measures that have removed protections for grizzly bears on federal lands, such as Yellowstone, these rare American carnivores are now at greater risk than ever before. Should hunters be permitted to shoot bears using silencers, the species could face jeopardy over the limited lands where they still reside. Also troubling is the fact that should this bill pass, regulations on silencers will be greatly relaxed, which could mean more potential criminals could get their hands on them and use them to commit crimes.
There is no need for hunters to use silencers to kill grizzly bears or any other animal on public lands. The only ones who stand to benefit from this legislation are a small number of vocal trophy hunters. Sign this petition to demand that Congress strongly reject this bill.

The bill known as the SHARE Act will soon be voted on by the House of Representatives. This bill would, among other things, allow hunters to kill grizzly bears on public lands using silencers. Contrary to the NRA’s position that this bill “will protect hunters and help preserve our outdoor heritage,” loosening the restrictions on silencers will only put large carnivores like these bears at risk, as well as the American public as a whole.
As this bill is currently receiving overwhelming Republican support, it is necessary for your party to do whatever it can to help ensure this bill this struck down. I urge you to strongly condemn this legislation, in the name of America’s wildlife and everyone who visits public lands to appreciate nature.

Possums were introduced to NZ by humans from Australia in 1837 – wow what a surprise ! – man knows best, introduces a non native species and then years later the same humans call it a ‘pest’. Some would call it Karma.
Yes they do cause damage to natural flora and some fauna; but we are putting this petition out because of the fact that very young children are being encouraged to hunt and kill animals.
What we ask does this teach young kids about their natural wildlife ?
Does it teach kids to think that killing is a natural way of life? – we find the whole thought process behind this ‘hunt’ very disturbing. What does this teach kids for the future ?
Stop Sickening School ‘Possum Hunt’ Where Children are Encouraged to Kill
Children as young as 5 years old are urged to kill innocent possums in a sickening fundraiser for Orini Combined School in Taupiri, New Zealand, scheduled for September 29, 2017.
“We don’t care if you trap ‘em or shoot ‘em. it’s all on to clean up the possum vermin in Orini and raise some funds…all welcome to join in the family fun,” reads the twisted event poster.
The barbaric event — for grades 0 through 8 — is horrifically cruel to the possum victims, and also teaches children at a very young age that slaughtering animals is not only OK, but a fun and rewarding activity. The children are even awarded prizes for killing the heaviest possum and the possum with the “best fur.”
Sign the petition demanding that Orini Combined School cancel this horrific event, and instead teach children that animals are not “vermin,” but thinking, feeling beings that deserve respect, not violence.

SAV. We have had the following in from Venus in Germany. The German General Election is in September; but whatever your political bias; things are not looking very positive for animals and their welfare. We share in the despair – no better with Trump in the US; the EU does nothing positive; just people looking after their own interests – not even considering others !
But the fighting and campaigning will go on regardless.
The following is the in edited message from Venus:
Dear Mark,
the association animal public e:V has made a survey to the five parliamentary parties.
They wanted to know how these parties were thinking about animal protection, and what they would decide about the lives of millions of animals. So that the German citizen knows who to give his voice to.
I find the results catastrophic, especially from the parties, which unfortunately and most likely will come to the coalition.

On September 24, the federal elections are held in Germany.
The association animal public.e.V has sent a list of ten questions to all parties which are expected to move into the Bundestag, with a request to tick with “yes” or “no”.
Some of these questions were in the past the subject of petitions here in Germany, which were ignored by the Merkel government.
Sure, many animal protectionists remember how many petitions and demonstrations for the ban on wild animals in circus we have done. Without success.
The parties in order, are:

Christian Democrats (Conservatives),
-
the Socialists,
-
the Liberals,
-
the Left and
-
the Greens.
The extreme right did not answer.
The questions were:
-
ban on wild animals in circuses,
-
the end of the dolphinariums,
-
amendment of the Hunting Act,
-
import ban on wild animals for private purposes,
-
prohibiting commercial animal exchanges,
-
positive list for the private keeping of wild animals,
-
recognizing the fundamental rights of great apes,
-
the right to legal action for animal welfare associations,
-
Federal Commissioner for animal welfare,
-
amendment of the zoological legislation.
One notices of the many “no” of the strongest parties of Germany that after the elections everything will be like before the elections, namely absolutely nothing new and certainly nothing good for the animals.
I predict a stupid and harmful coalition between Merkel and Schulz, and this will also be fatal consequences not only for Germany, but for many other countries of Europe that are politically and economically dependent on Germany. Because Germany is Europe.

Below (left) – Schultz – the other person is Junker – Mr EU.
And there will be no good for the animals. The only parties who have responded with the most “yes” are “the Left” and the “Greens”; But the first has no power, and the second has not shown any political fairness.
I really do not know who is hoping for something good against animal suffering and the animal miseries in Germany with these elections. I certainly do not!

Elephant tramples and kills Argentinian hunter in Namibia.
An elephant has trampled and killed an Argentinian hunter who was among a group tracking a herd in Namibia.
One of the elephants is reported to have charged before the group was able to shoot.

From report it is good to hear that the elephant appears to be uninjured.

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke branded ‘scum’ by Kevin Pietersen, who urges fans to ‘drive him’ out of the club
Exclusive: The American billionaire is facing a fierce backlash after launching a television channel that documents trophy killings of endangered animals
The former England cricketer, who is raising awareness about illegal poaching of rhinos in South Africa, has also called on Arsenal supporters to do everything they can to ensure majority shareholder Kroenke is “driven out” of the Premier League club.

“I find it sickening that anyone could want to endanger these animals whatsoever, but for someone to turn it into a TV show for entertainment absolutely boils my blood,” Pietersen exclusively told The Independent. “The guy, and those who contribute and support those practices, are scum.
“Enough is enough. These stunning animals are being slaughtered to the point of extinction and for anyone to celebrate it is absolutely repugnant.
“I’ve had so many messages from Arsenal fans telling me they hate him as much as anyone, so if that’s the case, he has to be driven out. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want this person representing something I love.”
These animals don’t have a voice, but we do.

Kroenke faced a heavy backlash following revelations in The Times that his company, Kroenke Sport Entertainment, is responsible for the UK launch of My Outdoor TV [MOTV] through its entity Outdoor Sportsman Group.
The channel will screen shows that follow hunters across the globe, primarily in Africa where big-money hunting trips are available, and involve various ways of killing wild animals that includes by bow and arrows and by guns.
Arsenal owner launches ‘sickening’ bloodsports TV channel in the UK
One programme shows a presenter shooting a critically endangered African elephant before the bull turns and charges at him. Two more shots are heard before the animal falls to the ground and dies.
“There’s no other feeling in the world quite like walking up on your bull elephant,” the man says to the camera.
Another show, called Dark Continent Quest, features huntress Jana Waller and her travels across the world killing animals with a bow and arrow. One episode shows Ms Waller killing a hartebeest in South Africa, with the arrow hitting the animal before it runs away. Ms Waller and her guide, John Faul, wait for the animal to bleed to death before approaching it.
“It’s a good shot. Definitely, some liver and some lungs hit,” says Mr Faul while the animal is still alive.
Ms Waller adds “the shot was a little far back for me, but one shot did it,” before holding up the hartebeest’s “beautiful heart shaped horns”.
It has caused a wave of criticism aimed at Kroenke, particularly from Arsenal supporters given that the American billionaire owns 67 per cent of the club’s shares. The channel has also been dubbed the “Netflix of the hunting world” by its supporters, who are willing to pay $9.99 [£7.60] a month for the subscription.

Dear Mark,
I received this pleasing information a few days ago and wanted to make it public.
It is about an initiative of the Swiss animal party to bribe hobby hunting and to organize forest guardians for nature and animals in the forest.
In Canton Geneva is the private hunting since 9. Mai 1974 prohibited. It is replaced by the so-called administrative hunting in which the hunting duties of cantonally hunted hunters, the gamekeepers are concerned.
I translate the article from the Wild Animal Protection Society:
On Tuesday, July 18, 2017, the Swiss Animal Party (TPS) submitted the national initiative “gamekeeper instead of hunters” to the canton of Zurich.
Over 7,000 signatures have been collected. Now, the Zurich voters will decide whether the wild animals in the canton of Zurich will be professionally supervised by a modern game management and thus the hobby-hunting will be abolished as leisure pleasure
“The popular saying ‘To care and to tend’, which is popular among hunters, for the justification of a bloody hobby is an old myth”, says the co-founder and president of the Swiss Animal Party (TPS) Monika Heierli-Rutishauser, “today it is scientifically proven that nature regulates itself.
This statement is confirmed by a variety of positive experiences in regions which are free of hunting grounds, including the Wild conservation region of the city of Zurich.
It is now known that the hunting of the wild animals does not lead to a regulation of the stock, but is the cause of the problem, since the fertility (birthrate) of the wild animals increases by the hunt!
The initiative demands that the stock of wild animals be given the opportunity to regulate themselves in the future, and therefore relies on modern, supportive wildlife management by professionally trained gamekeepers. This will abolish today’s hobby-hunting, and will lead to various positive effects, as can be read in the initiative text and its explanation.
