Germany: If You Go Down To The Woods Today – You May Come Home In A Body Bag ! – And A German Government Who Do Nothing But Bow To Hunters.

GERM0001

Bin9

January 2013 – German hunters have been out as usual killing everything that they are able to – this even includes shooting many (human species) people who have been out simply having a walk in or around the forests and the fields near their homes; the only problem being that they (people enjoying the countryside) were on the other side of the fields of crops and could not been seen by the hunters.  The hunter, with out even verifying ‘his target’, assumed instead that they, the humans taking a walk,  were wild boar or other natural and wild animals which were ‘game’ for their guns, and indiscriminately fired into the crops hoping for a kill – another to add to their useless tally.  Sometimes they have hit humans, sometimes they have killed them.  In Germany, a walk in the forest – if  you go down to the woods today – can see you returning home, in a body bag.

But German legislation does not care about walkers being shot at, maimed or even killed by hunters– Merkel does not care – she bows continually to the pro-hunt lobby at every turn whilst ignoring the rights of normal citizens who wish to enjoy nature.  Many of these citizens have been threatened by hunters whilst simply out walking; the hunters declaring that people ‘should get out of their area’, whilst at the same time using tactics such as threatening to shoot the citizens dogs if they do not obey what is said by the gun waving hunter – get out and stay out – I am here to kill and that is what I intend to do.

It is a very sick society, but unfortunately one that the German government bows to and does nothing to fight for its non-hunt citizens – in fact Merkel supports the pro hunt lobby and detests everything Green and Eco.

The competition is part of the Duesseldorf trade fair “Jagd und Hund” (Hunting and Dog) from Tuesday next week through to February 3rd. It is heavily supported and sponsored by the local Hunting Association and the publication mentioned above.

They want to push for more German fox fur being worn as fashion and to revitalise a traditional industry – that is also heavily supported by the German ministry for Trade at the Hong Kong Fur Fair (German Pavilion) every year.

Sadly, most article comments reflect a support for this ..

The lettering of the title is of especial interest .. This particular font is not used anyone in modern German writing. It was used up to, say, the 1940s – the time of the Nazis.

Indeed, the current German hunting legislation was formulated by “Reichsjaegermeister” (Reich’s hunting master) Hermann Goering.

A fact that fills many hunters, especially the older generation or those with a right-wing tendency (of which there are many among the hunters), with pride.

Question

A word to describe someone who hates animals but was unable to find one. What is the word that describes an animal hater?
by kazzzy on December 30th, 2007

Answer

I found “Misothery”, meaning a hatred and contempt for animals and animal-like aspects of nature. Misothery manifests itself in the form of animal exploitation, environmental degradation, etc. (from: http://www.animalsagenda.org/newcomers.asp)

Apparently it’s a word coined by animal rights activist Jim Mason. An interview excerpt:

Q. You have coined a term called “misothery”. What does this mean and is it related to misogyny at all?

A. The word misothery (miz OTH uh ree) is coined from two Greek words, misos, “hatred”, and ther, “wild beast” or “animal”. Thus it means, literally, “hatred of animals”. More broadly, it means hatred/contempt/despising of animals/animality/nature. It is very similar in construction, meaning and use to the more familiar word misogyny, which comes from the Greek root words misos and gune, “woman”. There are all too many examples of misogyny, of course. Maybe one of the most common is an attitude expressed in one of Norman Mailer’s works: “Most men who understand women at all feel hostile toward them. At their worst, women are low, sloppy beasts.” Plenty of other examples can be found in X-rated pornography and some of the writings of the Marquis de Sade and the philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer. These are hateful attitudes; they indicate strong contempt and loathing.

I coined misothery because I could find no word in the English language to express the similar sort of strong, negative feeling about animals, animality and nature. The word “speciesism” is too mild, as it means merely discrimination or inequality of regard. Similarly to “sexism” and “misogyny”, sexism is discrimination, un-equal treatment; misogyny is strong hatred and contempt for women. “Speciesism” connotes unequal regard for animals; “misothery” connotes vicious, strong, deep hatred and contempt for animals. For example, just look at “animal” in any dictionary: One meaning is “an inhuman person; brutish or beastlike person”, someone who is horribly cruel and violent. Other examples of misothery are our traditional attitude toward wolves, rats, snakes, cats, bats and other species who challenge us or threaten us in some way – or so we believe. (I say traditional because these attitudes are slowly changing in some places.)

Misothery arose in the first place as early agriculturalists learned to demystify and control the forces of nature–by clearing forests, damming rivers, irrigating crops, selecting seeds, and–above all–enslaving animals and controlling their lives. In that early stage, they still had the leftovers of the Paleolithic-era regard for animals as ensouled beings who represented the spirits and powers of a greater, more mysterious natural world. Animals were more or less sacred. As agriculturalists took over nature, they had to bring animals down off their pedestal, so to speak. They were needed not as gods, but as property and commodities. The old beliefs in the animal powers had to go in order to make way for animal slavery. As with any form of slavery, the slavers had to reduce the status and strip away the dignity of the enslaved. Thus misothery begins to be seen in the art, legends, myths and laws–the culture–of early agrarian societies. By the time history begins c. 3,000 BC, misothery (and misogyny) are overtaking and displacing the earlier views of animals (and women). Here (the one above and those below) are some very recent photos obtained from contacts across Germany which show the indiscriminate killing of wildlife by hunters.  Killing which includes, fox, deer and wild boar.  These animals once shot, are simply discarded into ‘disposal bins’ which are located throughout Germany to take the body of any animal.

There is no point to any of this apart from the German hunters wanting go into the frenzy of mass kill, like hunters everywhere !

Beautiful animals killed for no reason by ‘hunter mentals’ who have noting better in life to do other than take it from other living beings.  Those who then simply discard their days activities into the bin – Job Done !

This is Germany 2013 – A good place for mass animal killers (including the current government); but a very bad place if you happen to be a civilised human out enjoying the countryside, just the same as a fox, deer or wild boar going about finding food and simply trying to survive.

Hi Mark,

“Winter has just struck with all of its fierce power. We’ve been literally snowed in for the last couple of days and a state of emergency has been declared for Vojvodina.  When even the highways are buried in snow drifts, what can you expect of the local roads? And yet my shelter, although not fully prepared for the winter weather, is holding on in a small snow-covered village…

We’re in the grip of a deep freeze, with continuing snowfall accompanied by frosty, biting and stinging northerly winds.  Luckily, this heavy snow can’t contrive to pile up on my chain link fence, but the heaps of snow do build up on the rooftop. I guess it’s a good thing that I still don’t hear ominous cracking sounds from the roof as it is successfully bearing the burden of extra weight, at least for now.

D5

D6

The yard resembles a winter wonderland. It’s not so magical, though, for those of us who are shoveling paths through the deep snow so that the others, the furry, four-legged ones, can run and jump easily all over the yard.  The youngsters are having a great time and loving the snow (yeah, it’s easy for them to love it), but most of the older kitties are definitely not impressed. Some of them took a brief walk through the snow on that first day, decided they didn’t like it and are now resting in their warm rooms, while the others didn’t even desire to set foot outside. The only exception is Speki, whose fascination with snow is well known, but he won’t be so delighted if the food delivery truck doesn’t manage to push its way through.

D9

D10

D11

Although we’re in mid-December, the snow caught everyone by surprise. When things get back to normal again, all of the doors of the kitties’ indoor enclosure and the gates will have to be strengthened and fixed. This winter is obviously going to be brutal, with above normal heavy snowfall and frigid winds. We must do everything within our power to prepare for the cold months coming ahead the best we can.

Please, help us with whatever you are able to give! It’s a dire emergency here and there’s no more time to waste!”

Warm wishes

Robert – Campaigning to Save Russian Seal Pups

November 2012 – It was really great to hear from an old campaigner friend during this last week. I have had the pleasure of calling Robert (Bob) a good friend and fellow activist in the past.

Please do not be fooled that the ban on the Russian seal pups slaughter has very much to do with any campaign work associated with big international welfare organisations – because it has not.

It is only down to the continued persistence and fighting by Robert over many years that this has happened.

He has been the one man dedicated to stopping the hunting of seal pups in the Russian Federation, a man who has had no financial backing from anyone else with any of his campaigning, he has funded everything himself; but a person who has achieved the magnificent result of stopping the Russian seal hunt purely through his persistence and his dedication to protecting these beautiful animals.

Below are a few photographs which show Robert in action. Our campaigning over many, many years took us to London, the European Union in Brussels, and for Robert especially, many many places across the UK.  We handed in campaign postcards at Downing Street, and met with EU Commissioners to try and get our message about pelts entering the EU illegally via routes in Northern Europe.  We slept in cardboard boxes on the streets of Brussels to save on hotel money which could instead, go to the seals campaigning.

Nothing but simple support from the British government with regard to the Russian seal pups slaughter campaign was asked by Robert for many years, and his requests were always denied and ignored. I think it fair to say that Robert, like all of us, was simply labelled as an ‘animal rights activist’ and that the true spectrum of Roberts desires was simply ignored by the UK government who wished simply to label him as ‘trouble’ and keep him out of the way.

As you can see below, and as we say here in the UK, ‘what goes round comes round’; so it was great to read that after more than 17 years of campaigning for the Russian seals, Robert was able to confront former UK Prime Minister John Major during his recent book signing visit to Kent County. The articles from Kent newspapers, which are given below, explain the Robert / John Major meeting which took place recently. As you can see, John Major was left rather dumbstruck by Robert suddenly appearing at the signing and bringing up the issue of Russian baby seal pup slaughter once again.  Mr. Major; an issue from the past has returned to haunt you once again and let the people know that you personally did nothing to support efforts to get the slaughter stopped.

Despite the lack luster attitude of John Major, in 2009 the Russian federal fisheries agency issued an order to protect seal pups up to the age of one year. President Putin (of Russia) called the Russian annual cull a ‘bloody industry’. It was after this that the order to protect seal pups in Russia was introduced.

Congratulations Robert; not only did you become the real man behind the cessation of Russian seal pup killing, but you have now (November 2012) once again encountered one of your old ‘sparring partners’ in the form of John Major, who once again in 2012, has been reminded of his failings from the past to protect Russian seal pups at a time when he was prime minister and as such, was able to voice a strong opposition to the Russian authorities about what was going on. John Major ignored these requests and the devoted dedication for baby Russian seals shown by people such as Robert.

Robert, the kind and gentle man from a humble Kentish Town, who decided to do the right thing and fight tooth and nail for the Russian seal pups, eventually achieved his aims.  Bob, I was happy to call your friend then, as I am now; and I very much respect and admire your dedication in following through your visions over so many years, the vision being that the Russian seal pup slaughter with one day stop.

Now it has.  I was happy to stand alongside you as a fellow campaigner / activist in achieving your / our aims and goals for innocent baby seals. We both have many individual and personal memories of what the Russian seal pup campaign was about for of us as individual people; and we worked together on the issue, campaigned together and eventually, achieved together.

But in my own eyes, the cessation of the Russian seal pup slaughter was down to one campaigner and one campaigner only, and his name was Robert Mouland from Folkestone in Kent (England).  Don’t let the world say otherwise.

Mark –  SAV Founder.

Speaking for the seal pups at Downing Street, London (above);

and at the EU in Brussels, Belgium (Below).

Some old campaign data:

Harp Seals – Sub Order: Pinnipedia

Weight Range: 80-190kgs

Average Length: 160 – 170cm

Normal Life Span: Up to 35 Years.

Gestation for the harp seal is 10 months; with females giving birth after they have come onto the Winter pack ice in February or early March.  The new born pups are yellowish in colour but after around two days they turn white; the distinctive “Whitecoat” we all know and love.  New born pups usually weigh around 5 to 11kgs and are 85cms in length.

Pups are nursed for around 12 days by their mothers, taking milk containing up to 45% fat content.  After this time and during which the pup will triple its weight (around 35-40kgs), it is abandoned by its mother.  After being abandoned, the pups start to moult and are known as “ragged jackets”.  When the coat is completely shed after around 18 days, the pup becomes a “beater” with a short silvery coat with dark spots.

Karelia is a huge area within the White Sea region of the Russian Northwest, located about 250km from the Russian-Finnish border.  It is here that Russian seal pup hunting has largely taken place.  Commercial sealing in what was the former USSR was stopped in 1965, except for pups which were still allowed to be hunted.

The number of baby seals murdered annually for the period 1989 to 2003 are as follows:

Year Total
1989 Hunt Quota Given but not confirmed
1990 30,000 Estimated
1991 Data not known
1992 18,183
1993 19,925
1994 30,500
1995 30,500
1996 31,300
1997 31,380
1998 13,000
1999 30,000
2000 38,302
2001 39,106
2002 34,187
2003 37,936

Pups are murdered in the most inhumane manner; by being clubbed to death or spiked using the gaff.  Those that are not killed directly on the ice by clubbing are delivered to ‘Seal Farms’ as part of the on-going fur production system.  Whitecoats which are murdered on the ice are given a blow across the head or nose by the blunt end of the gaff.  Often after this, the spiked end of the weapon is driven deep into the brain (Spiking).  Pups are not bled on the ice because of fear that this process could damage the pelt.

Hunting takes place in early March. Sealers are transported to specific locations on the ice using chartered helicopters costing around $1000 per hour.  The returning helicopters bring batches of dead seals for processing.  Dead or unconscious pups are loaded into special nets which are collected by the returning helicopters.  Once the full quota of the hunt is reached, attention is turned to the catching of youngsters for seal farming.

Seal farming is common practice, and causes a great deal more stress on the pups than direct killing on the ice.  Pups succumb to disease due to stress and overcrowding, often seen by bleeding from the mouth; something never seen in the wild.  On the farm(s), 24 hour guards are employed.  Pups are killed in batches of around 50 when their coats have reached the right stage, by being injected under the flipper with a drug called ‘Dithyllinum’.

Dithyllinum produces death by immobilising the skeletal system respiratory muscles; thus causing fatal suffocation.  There is no depressing action on the brain and only when given in very high doses does the animal suffocate.  If an animal is given a dosage which only paralyses it, it is impossible to see whether it is dead or still alive.  Thus, some animals are paralysed rather than killed by the drug; and consequently will be skinned alive.

The American Veterinary Medical Association has said of ‘Dithyllinum’:  ‘The use of these drugs to produce euthanasia is strongly condemned’ !.

Around 100 men work on the seal killing on the ice for about one week.  Working in teams of 12 to 15, they keep in touch by radio and move to wherever the large numbers of pups are.  The local population from the hunt areas are not wealthy; and the kill can earn each hunter the equivalent of three months wages; so competition is great to be included.  An alternative economic enterprise would need to bring income into these communities.  But Eco-Tourism IS now under way, with organisations including Harp Seal watching as part of the schedule for the holiday.  Back in the mid-nineties; the Arkhangelsk Ecology Committee (AEC) agreed in principle to recommend seal pup quota cuts as Eco-tourism develops.

But it still happens in Canada !! – Fight It Please.

Serbia: Borka’s Cats – Help Required From Ela With Facebook Page – Can You Help ? – E mail Contact Detail Given.

Ela has now set up a Facebook page called ‘Hope For Serbian Animals’,

but she is after more help with getting this site sorted – can you help please ?

Please have a look at the Borkas cats which are shown in the following photos.  They are cared for by a Roma lady who belongs to people who have been moved on by the authorities.  She is one of the only people to remain and she feeds about 60 cats.

If she is moved then all the cats will be left and may be rounded up and taken to the local pound to die.  As we currently understand, Ela is establishing a link on her page that would allow you to donate.  The appeal would be for the cats and their carers who help with feeding, sterilisation and vaccinations.

E mail contact can be made with Ela at  ela.josephs@btinternet.com   should you wish to help immediately.

The message from Serbia via Ela is as follows:

Subject: Borka’s cats

Date: Saturday, 20 October, 2012,

The cats in this album live in a slum settlement from which Roma people were forcefully relocated and forbidden to take their animals with them. Borka is one of the few inhabitants who remained there and she is the only one who looks after about 40-50 cats. She also has two dogs.

Borka lives in a makeshift shack with no electricity and running water. Understandably, she has no financial means to provide food for so many cats. Spay campaign is under way and so far 15 females have been sterilized. Most of these cats are tame and they desperately need food an home. Soon there will be no one to feed them when the authorities remove the remaining people who are still living there. Please help them!

Australia to protest live export ahead of Islamic slaughter

Hannah Johansen | 3 October 2012

SYDNEY: With hundreds of thousands of animals expected to be slaughtered across the Islamic world later this month, and many of the cows and sheep coming from Australia in live export vessels, Australian activists are to take to the streets across the country to protest the government’s continued approval of the controversial practices.

Spearheaded by Animals Australia, the protests will be held in the cities of Melbourne , Sydney , Brisbane , Adelaide , Perth , Canberra and Hobart .

“If you care about animals and want to see them protected from cruelty, then please join us this Saturday as we rally side-by-side, right across the country, for an end to live export,” said Animals Australia in a press release announcing the protest to its followers.

It also comes on the heels of a report that live export sheep were clubbed to death and buried alive in Pakistan last month in what activists say was a “shocking incident.”

“These are the latest tragic results of a live export industry that sends animals to be killed in countries where there are no laws to protect them from cruelty,” said Animals Australia in a press statement.

“No politician can defend a trade that comes with the risk of animals being clubbed, stabbed, or buried alive. Enough is enough. Today, don’t let your MP off the hook,” the animal rights group added.

In revealing the terrible tragedy, Animals Australia urged Australian citizens to call on their representatives to push for an end to the live export trade.

Pakistani officials confirmed to Bikymasr.com on that they would go forward with the killing of more than 21,000 sheep despite Australian government assurances that the animals were safe to be slaughtered for food.

Australian diplomats have repeatedly urged Pakistan to stop the killings, saying the animals are not infected with disease.

Pakistan ordered the cull after the ship carrying the sheep had been turned away by the Bahraini government and tested positive for salmonella and actinomyces.

Australia’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Peter Heyward said he was “surprised and concerned” about the killings, as he argued the animals met the south Asian country’s health requirements for imported sheep and they posed “no human or animal health risks.”

Salmonella and actinomyces, he argued, “are part of normal gut flora and are present in livestock throughout the world, and in this form pose no threat to human health.”

In Pakistan , Karachi ’s top administrator Roshan Shaikh told reporters that the sheep killings would continue.

“There is no suspension in the process, as the bacterial presence in the animal is confirmed and we can’t put human life in danger in Pakistan ,” he said.

It comes after Egyptian officials refused to allow a shipment of young cows into the country last month from Brazil after officials in Cairo said the animals were infected with unknown hormones.

Over 32,000 cows were slaughtered as a result after being forced to remain at port for weeks, causing mass deaths on board the ships.

The stranded cows had made international headlines after Bikyamasr.com first reported their situation on September 1, including a Care2.com petition that was signed by over 25,000 people globally urging the Egyptian government to free the baby cows from their horrific conditions.

Background on Live Export

Live export from Brazil and Australia to the Islamic world is a controversial practice that sees thousands of animals crammed into small crates and transported by sea to their destination to be slaughtered for food.

According to the ministry, tests had been conducted to learn more about the potential carcinogen that had been given to the animals before they would be unloaded. Tests had reportedly been ongoing for the past month at a private lab in Egypt , but no results had been conclusive.

According to a al-Shorouk newspaper report, the animals are likely to remain in their confinement for a number of weeks more in order for further tests to take place.

Earlier this year, some 3,000 of the cows died on a ship destined for Egypt after the Egyptian government refused to allow the ship to dock at a Red Sea port.

They were slaughtered as a “precaution,” the ministry said, outraging a number of Egyptians.

Animals Australia , the leading organization reporting on the controversial live export trade to the Middle East and Southeast Asia , said the incident was among the worst the industry had witnessed in years.

Animals Australia ’s Campaign Director, Lyn White, said in a statement to Bikyamasr.com that the ship was anchored at sea after being refused port in a number of countries, including Egypt , where the cattle were supposed to be offloaded.

It’s understood that ventilation problems on the converted livestock vessel, the MV Gracia Del Mar, had caused the deaths of more than half of the animals on board since the ship left South America for Egypt a few weeks ago. The ship was anchored in the Red Sea for weeks and saw more animals perish as a result.

“This is nothing short of an animal welfare disaster. If remaining cattle are not offloaded more of these animals will suffer appalling deaths at sea. We are appealing to authorities in Egypt to offload the remaining cattle at al-Sohkna, as was originally intended.

“This disaster is just another example of the inherent risks of transporting animals by sea. It was only nine years ago that 5,000 Australian sheep perished on board the MV Cormo Express after country after country refused to allow it to berth.

“And this isn’t the first time that mechanical issues have caused mass deaths on live export ships. We only need to look to the breakdown of the Al Messilah in Adelaide last year. Had that vessel broken down on the open ocean it would have caused a similar welfare catastrophe — as thousands of animals would have died.

“ Australia also exports cattle to Al Sohkna Livestock company in Egypt . Whilst we have an MoU with Egypt which should ensure the offloading of our animals, it has never been put to the test. The Egyptians thus far have flatly refused to allow the MV Gracia Del Mar to dock despite the mass suffering of the animals on board.

“If they continue to refuse to allow the surviving animals to be unloaded it would provide little confidence that the non-binding agreement with Australia would be honoured if a similar incident were to occur on an Australian livestock ship.

“It should not matter if these cattle aren’t Australian and if Brazil doesn’t have a similar piece of paper, they should not be abandoned to suffer and die at sea. We are appealing to Egyptian authorities to offload these cattle as a matter of urgency.”

Australia’s live sheep exports have fallen significantly over the past decade.

In 2010, three million sheep were exported compared with 6.3 million in 2001.

Australia’s government last year was to see a bill that would have banned live export to the world, but industry lobbyists fought back and forced the legislation off the table in a move that angered animal activists in the country and across the world, notably the Islamic world, which receives the lion’s share of live cattle and sheep from both Australia and Brazil.

Macedonia: REQUEST FOR HELP AND SUPPORT OF OUR INITIATIVE FOR FIRST VEGGIE Festival in Republic of Macedonia.

REQUEST FOR HELP AND SUPPORT OF OUR INITIATIVE FOR FIRST VEGGIE Festival in Republic of Macedonia

Dear All,

We are Association for animal right protection “ANIMA MUNDI” from Republic of Macedonia (http://anima-mundi.org.mk/), young, non-profit association with numerous members which passionately stands for protection of animal rights – sensitization  of the population regarding the difficult life they are exposed to,  termination of all forms of exploitation and abuse to which they are exposed to by the population. We act relentlessly, continuously for three and a half years with limited funds and resources completely voluntary.

We address You with request for help, with in your capabilities and wish, to support our initiative for FIRST VEGGIE Festival in Republic of Macedonia. In addition we will try to explain why this assistance is so required – for what we believe that we will have your understanding and support.

Although our resources are very modest, limited, we have great enthusiasm and intentions for organizing  an event during the World Days of farm animals, World Day of vegetarianism and  World Day veganism with a strong educative message and campaign for the promotion of human choice, respect and compassion for animals, stimulate human style of life, a philosophy of non-violence and vegetarian or vegan diet.

So far, with our modest resources and founds, on this topic we have organized symbolic information stands, Vegan party, open debates/discussions on animal rights that included info materials, stands and Vegan demonstration.

Realizing that it is necessary to act beyond, we start planning FIRST VEGGIE FEST in R.Macedonia, a festival with a broad and comprehensive program and with maximum visibility. This is a big step for us in our country where the animals are treated at the level of object that exists for the service of man, where are exposed to trauma, pain, extreme cruelty, to try to reach the general public and to be able to change something in favor of the good being of  animals.

The entire engagement of the members of ANIMA MUNDI is completely voluntary – namely dozen people with all their skill and capabilities  try to realize a rich program that will make people think, arise compassion towards animals, will challenge them to no longer be passive consumers and try to change their habits and lifestyle.

HOW WE ORGANISE THE EVENT?

We are trying to :

Print flyers, pamphlets, info materials of the reasons for vegetarianism, veganism (ethical, medical, environmental …) and if possible mobile ads on the bus to convey a message to a wider target group.

–   Organize a two-day informational stands in the center of the capital, Skopje.

–   Organize outdoor video screenings of documentary films  in order to be wached by a wider audience.

–   Organize music events with several bands – as to attract the target population.

– Degustation of  vegan and vegetarian food – to fight against the prejudices that Vege food is monotonous, poor, tasteless and unhealthy (There is a medical myth in Macedonia that meat is absolutely essential in normal diet of human population!)

–   Workshops with children – to stimulate compassion, love, concern for farm animals;

–   Organized lectures by nutritionists – Vegans / raw food promoters / vegetarians

–   If possible to some advertising space (at least one poster and one billboard) in the city center

Everything that can be done by us, we will do with love and devotion and we do not need finance. It includes organization and coordination of two day event, organization of small performance, concept of info materials, design of flyer, educational workshop with children, video screening of educational material…
