Hi Mark,
Earlier this year, nearly 500,000 of us told big name brands they needed to do more to stop the destruction of Indonesia’s forests at the hands of palm oil companies. And they listened.
When a huge palm oil company – IOI – recently had their sustainable palm oil certificates pulled for repeatedly destroying forests and peatlands, all the big brands like Nestle, Unilever and Mars have said they will stop buying from them. All, that is, except one. General Mills – makers of Betty Crocker cake mixes and Jus-Rol pastry – think it’s still ok to buy palm oil from IOI and have refused to stop doing business with them.

ACTION

IOI has been draining peat swamps and tearing down forests – creating the perfect conditions for the fires which swept across Indonesia last year. These forests are also prime orangutan habitat, and this magnificent ape is already threatened with extinction. And yet General Mills is still doing business with them. Even the industry’s own sustainable palm oil group – the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil – thinks IOI is bad news and pulled IOI’s sustainable palm oil certificates.
The RSPO almost never takes action against its members, which shows just how poor IOI’s track record is. The bosses at General Mills have a half-baked idea that if they keep buying palm oil from IOI, they can persuade the forest destroyer to change. But time and again, IOI have left a trail of devastation and the only way they will change is if their customers take a stand and stop buying their palm oil.

Let’s make it happen. Jamie Greenpeace PS The only way IOI will end the destruction is if their customers walk away. Other big brands have dropped them, but General Mills is still using their palm oil.

In the latest installment of the factory farming industry’s breeding-deadly-diseases saga, scientists have identified a new strain of the Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus (PEDv), one that is just as virulent as the original strain.
Spread from pig to pig via infected feces, which cover just about every surface of unsanitary farm facilities, PEDv is nearly 100 percent fatal and has claimed the lives of at least 8 million animals (about 10 percent of the U.S. pig population) since it was discovered in 2013.
Researchers believe the new form of the virus mutated to outpace any immunity pigs developed to the first strain. Filthy conditions on factory farms have fanned the flames and allowed the disease to spread to epidemic proportions.
Even if the millions of PEDv victims had survived the disease, they would have been slaughtered only weeks or months later to satisfy people’s appetites for ham, bacon, and other pork products.
You can spare pigs from both deadly diseases and needless slaughter by choosing a compassionate vegan diet.
Recipes, meal plans, and health tips on ChooseVeg.com can help you get started.

Some wonderful rescues from our friends at Animal Aid Unlimited in India. They all look very bad at the start, but all have great endings. Enjoy the videos !

VIDEOS:
A street dog had a life-threatening abscess on his face. Watch his fast recovery after rescue! Donate to save street animals in India :
We rescued a puppy who was collapsed on the side of the road unable to stand. We treated her for canine distemper which is often fatal but within 14 days she was eating and walking again!
We rescued Grace after she was found with wire tied through her mouth. We think the wire was tied intentionally but we have no information about what happened to her. She had been unable to eat or drink for days and was very near death. Please note that this video contains a few painful scenes of the wire being cut during her first treatment. Grace is now fully healed and is living in our sanctuary where she
A working donkey had been terribly abused by his owner and abandoned on the street in critical condition. We rescued him, healed his wounds, and gave him permanent sanctuary.
This brave street dog was just days–maybe even hours from death after a piece of wire was wrapped around his neck cutting off the circulation to his head causing terrible swelling.
A piglet had fallen into a well and was trapped unable to get out or even take a moments break from swimming. Just as we arrived and were getting our rescuer into his halter the piglet was starting to drown. Watch his amazing rescue and please share to help support animal rescue in India.
We rescued a street dog suffering from an enormous cancerous tumor, a transmissible venereal tumor. Watch her amazing recovery!
Please give to save lives !

I have put Susan the Founder of the Jarjeer Mules Foundation. She is a wonderfull person.
Thank you All for everything you are doing to save those animals.
Your mobilisation makes the owner scared.
Amal xxx

1./ This petition is about to help more than Sultan, if you check on the fb page of Tommy at Jarjeer Mules Foundation, you will find that we are also talking about 22 horses, 12 camels, 4 ponies, 3 donkeys and 5 dogs, starved by the owner.
2./ All the updates are in this page. It is a very serious British charitie. Even the Spana Marrakech has tried to save the animals when there where in the road during days without food nor water.
3./ The Spana Marrakech pushed and they got the Municipality paper to take them. The night before the owner came to take them to a private place. The Moroccan law unfortunately can not be applied, anymore as the animals are supposed to be no more abandoned. It means that you can starve and torture your animals as there are yours or in your private place.
We need as much signatures as possible, to 1st save all the animals, and push to implement new legislation.
Thank you for all you can do for them. Some are famous films animals. This guy has to stop definitely his activity. There are new updates on the fb page, please read the comments. We need your support
Kind Regards,
Amal El Bekri

USA: Tiger With Terminal Cancer Used As Gimmick By University At Football Games !!
– SAD UNIVERSITY !!
And another important petition – you would think that universities would know better and be more intelligent than to do things like this – abusing animals year after year – obviously not this one !
Intelligent ?? – That’s what universities claim; but in this case we make an exception.

Petition wording:
Target: F. King Alexander, Chancellor of Louisiana State University
Goal: End the use of live tigers as mascots at sporting events.
For the past few years, Louisiana State University (LSU) has been bringing out a live, caged tiger to its football games. The university has gone through six tigers, and its current tiger has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. While the college claims to be providing Mike world class care, this should take place in a sanctuary, not a cage.
Holding wild animals captive is detrimental to their physical and mental health. These animals should be running through the trees, enjoying the sunshine, and engaging in natural behaviors. Instead, these tigers have been carted around for entertainment, confined in small cages, and forced to endure the large, loud crowds of university football games.
It is cruel to continue treating the tiger in this manner. He deserves to have some peace and happiness for his remaining time on earth. Sign this petition and demand LSU retire its tiger and no longer use live animals as mascots.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Mr. Alexander
For years, your university has been using live, caged tigers as the school’s mascot. In the time that you have used live animals, LSU has gone through six tigers. The current tiger has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
It is cruel to continue forcing this tiger to endure long, loud and hectic football games and letting him waste away in a cage. He deserves happiness and freedom in his final days. Please consider sending him to an accredited sanctuary.
Animals in captivity face many problems when it comes to their physical and mental health. It is not fair to use these animals as entertainment and to deny everything that is natural to them. Please consider no longer using live animals as mascots.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]

Dear Mark,

Geese after feathers plucked for down at a feather farm in China.
PETA and PETA Asia have uncovered shocking cruelty to geese connected with so-called “responsible” down and feather suppliers. The Responsible Down Standard actually allows certified companies to deal in feathers that are live-plucked in addition to the ones that aren’t.
Workers were seen ripping geese’s feathers out while they were fully conscious, leaving open, bloody wounds. Some geese struggled and cried out, while others were paralyzed with fear. Workers pinned them down by stepping on their delicate wings and necks and tightly binding their feet together.
PETA dug deeper and found that the farms that are live-plucking birds or dealing in live-plucked feathers sell to “Non Live-Plucked Products Guarantee” or “Responsible Down Standard” companies, the same companies that agree to “ensure humane treatment of animals.” One buyer even bragged about misleading customers and live-plucking in secret. These certified companies supply down to clothing and bedding companies such as Eddie Bauer, Lands’ End, and Hollander Sleep Products.
With your help, we can push retailers to remove down from their shelves and put an end to this cruelty. All you have to do is take action today. Thank you.

Not a single sponsor has stepped up for these three little gingers, one tabby and one little black cutie. Not a single contribution towards their living expenses, the costs of their food and vet care, not a thing. Five out of six orphaned babies are still nameless.
It’s not their fault they were chucked out into the street when they were maybe 10 days old at most, they are not to blame that they never had the chance to be nursed and grow by their mother’s side, they didn’t choose to be born in the first place and had no say in being thrown out like rubbish and left to die. I certainly wasn’t exactly eager to spend countless nights without sleep, bottle feeding them and fighting for their lives.
They still have a fungal infection that’s being treated and they have to live in a cage for now; they can’t be let out as they would rapidly spread ringworm among all of the other cats.
Their little faces are messy and dirty after eating, but how is it possible that they don’t appeal to anyone? Why does it seem they are so unimportant and not worthy of love and attention? We need only five more sponsors for these itty bitty babies!
Are these nice five people really this rare and impossible to find?
