Donald Trump is pushing ahead with his cruel border wall.
Not only will it perpetuate human suffering and harm border communities but it will become an impenetrable barrier for wildlife, forever walling off Mexican gray wolves, ocelots and jaguars from their families on the other side.
It’s a perfect emblem of Trump’s America — divisive, ugly, harmful to people and wildlife, and ruinous for our stunning landscapes.
With your contribution to the Trump Resistance Fund today, we’ll fight to stop the wall and protect our magnificent borderlands and migrating wildlife. The United States-Mexico border region is a breathtaking mix of lush deserts and wild landscapes including national wildlife refuges, monuments and national forests.
It’s the only place in the world where jaguars and black bears live side by side. More than 100 animal species will be threatened by Trump’s border wall, including ocelots, Sonoran pronghorn and coatimundi — a raccoon-like omnivore.
Imagine what the wall will do. The two male jaguars currently roaming the Southwest will probably never be able to find a mate because all other jaguars in Mexico will be blocked from moving north and re-establishing populations. Mexican gray wolves in Arizona will be cut off from the vital habitats they need to grow their genetically impoverished numbers. The dwindling population of less than 50 ocelots in Texas will be cut off forever, doomed to gradual inbreeding and extinction.
We’re in for a massive fight. Trump knows that the wall is a centerpiece of his appeal to his extremist supporters, and he’ll use the full power of the federal government to try and ram it through regardless of the harm it would do to border communities and wildlife. We need to stop him before the fragile environments of the borderlands are destroyed forever. The Center is hiring 10 new lawyers and investigators to stop the worst of Trump’s plans, including the border wall.
We also need to mobilize out in the streets and will be hiring more activists. But we need you by our side to make this happen.

Take action for Tashi Wangchuk
Write to your embassy about imprisoned language advocate
The Tibetan language advocate Tashi Wangchuk could face trial at any time following the conclusion of a second investigation into his case this month. If found guilty he faces up to 15 years in jail.
Tashi Wangchuk has been in detention since January 2016 and has been charged with “inciting separatism”. China has provided no evidence that he has committed any crime.
He has had little access to family and his lawyers have only been able to visit him twice. There is a high risk of him facing a trial that is neither fair nor transparent.
We continue to push for Tashi Wangchuk’s release, but it is also vital that if he does go to trial, international observers are there. Call on your embassy in China to urgently raise Tashi Wangchuk’s case with the authorities, and to send observers to any trial that he faces.

This Friday 27 January marks one year since Tashi Wangchuk was arrested. Free Tibet will join with other UK-based Tibet organisations at the Chinese embassy in London to call for his release
The demonstration will take place between 6pm and 8pm, outside the Chinese Embassy, at 49-51 Portland Place, LondonW1B 1JL. Free Tibet will be there, along with Students for a Free Tibet, Tibetan Community UK and Tibet Society.
Tashi Wangchuk has spent a year in detention and now faces up to 15 years in prison.
His arrest in 2016 followed his peaceful campaign to encourage China’s authorities to ensure that the Tibetan language is taught throughout Tibet. He has not committed any crime and China’s constitution guarantees Tibetans the right to use and develop their own languages.
After the completion of a second investigation into his case, the way is now clear for him to stand trial on charges of “attempting to split the Chinese state”. Tibetans detained for such state security crimes are often tried in secret under conditions that do not meet international standards of fairness or transparency. China must be put under international pressure to ensure that Tashi Wangchuk receives a fair trial, and that if there is no evidence against him, that he is immediately released from detention.

This gives us an explanation why we do not act morally, although we already know what is good. Because, when you look at the everyday crimes of people, it becomes clear that knowledge alone cannot move human beings to moral action. We know very much, we never had so much information about good and evil as today. Every day, there are undercover investigations in the public media, in the Internet, in the newspapers.
But we still act immorally. This proves that knowledge alone is not enough to move people to a moral action. But I consider it as an incomplete explanation. I am firmly convinced that not the knowledge, but the moral conviction, can move people to moral action.
There are many people who believe that animals must not be tortured. If one believes in it but does not act on it, then this conviction is not solid enough. And if the belief is not strong, then any good theory is useless.
The evidence for the strength of your beliefs is the strength of your actions.
When our children or grandchildren ask why we have not prevented the eradication of the primates or the suffering of animals, we can answer: “because we were cowardly and incapable of putting our moral convictions into practice. Maybe you can do it better “

I was informed by an animal protection organization that a shark aquarium is planned in Sinsheim. Sinsheim has 35,000 inhabitants and is located in the south of Germany.
An investor wants to build the biggest shark aquarium in Europe: “Shark City”.
Dives in the basins are planned, but also a so-called touch pool for touching the animals.
My first thought was: in which century do these cave-men live? But with thoughts we can not save animals, actions maybe more helpful!
I wrote and sent this letter to the mayor.
If someone wants to protest, can also send the same letter. The more the better.

Dear Lord Mayor, I have just learned that the city of Sinsheim plans a shark aquarium. The first thought was: in which century do these people live? Worldwide is growing the criticism of the keeping from wild animals in captivity.
In the last few years, seven dolphinariums have closed in Germany alone, zoos are scarcely gaining more visitors and survive only on the basis of state subventions. And your city intends to build a “Shark City”?
Sharks are highly developed and extremely intelligent animals. Keeping these animals in an aquarium is –polite formulated-ethically intolerable.
It is well-known, depending on the sensitivity of the shark species, that many animals die already during the catch or during the transport. And even those who are living in a “basins of Sinsheim” certainly do not have a high life expectancy. Wild caught animals often die within a year.
It is also known that there are no offspring in many species of sharks that live in captivity. The operators of “Shark City” will have to resort to wild catches, they have already admitted. Are you informed about this all?
A necessity for the construction of such a shameful large aquarium does not exist-except to save money on suffering of the animals. And not even that is certain. Such a business is not contemporary, nor a sign of a progressive city.
I ask you immediately to prevent the construction of “Shark City”.

ich habe gerade erfahren, dass die Stadt Sinsheim ein Hai-Aquarium plant.
Der erste Gedanke war: in welchem Jahrhundert leben diese Leute?
Weltweit wächst die Kritik an der Haltung von Wildtieren in Gefangenschaft.
In den letzten Jahren haben allein in Deutschland sieben Delfinarien geschlossen, Zoos bekommen kaum Besucher mehr und überleben nur aufgrund staatlicher Zuschüsse.
Und Ihre Stadt beabsichtigt eine „Shark-City“ zu bauen?
Haie sind hochentwickelte und äußerst intelligente Tiere.
Diese Tiere in einem Aquarium zu halten ist -höflich formuliert- ethisch untragbar.
Es ist hinlänglich bekannt, dass je nach Empfindlichkeit der Hai-Art, viele Tiere bereits beim Fang oder während des Transports sterben .
Und auch die, die lebend in den Becken eines Sinsheim Beckens ankommen werden, haben mit Sicherheit keine hohe Lebenserwartung.
Wild gefangene Tiere sterben oft schon innerhalb eines Jahres.
Ebenfalls bekannt ist, dass es bei vielen Hai-Arten in Gefangenschaft keine Nachzuchten gibt.
Die Betreiber von „Shark City“ werden daher auf Wildfänge zurückgreifen müssen, das haben sie auch bereits eingestanden.
Sind Sie überhaupt darüber informiert?
Eine Notwendigkeit für den Neubau eines solchen beschämenden Großaquariums-außer Geld machen auf Kosten der Tiere- gibt es nicht.
Und nicht einmal das ist sicher.
So ein Geschäft ist nicht zeitgemäß, noch ein Zeichen einer fortschrittlich denkenden Stadt.
Ich bitte Sie umgehend, den Bau von „Shark-City” zu verhindern.

On the 9th of December, 2016, a truck drove into the Christmas market in Berlin. A terrorist attack, with 12 dead and several injured. Shortly after, the courageous chairman of the animal organization Animal Peace – Silke Ruthenberg – following truthful statement has posted on Facebook:

She was named as fascist, mentally ill, scum. Murder threats also came. All written in the name of humanism and humanity. The first were the “animal protection zones”, the vegans, and other “system conformists” who expressed themselves with disrespect and disgust at this message.

Für mich ist durchaus vorstellbar, dass eines Tages einer oder eine dieser Tierschützer/innen / durchgeknallten Veganer einen derartigen Anschlag an einem solchen Ort durchziehen; nur weil dort traditionell Currywürste, Krakauer, Rostbratwürstchen, Spießbratenbrötchen … verzehrt warden.

Crusades for animal renaissance!
Every year this day, when others enjoy their holiday table with pieces of slaughtered animals on their plate and shoot expensive fireworks in the air to say “good bye” to the last night of year, I make my own celebration.
I have not many guests, we are still a few.
We are those who in this year rescued an animal, rescued many animals, those who rescued the hope of life. We are those who do not believe that the Three Kings will bring a better future, we believe in action and fight.
We are those who continue our crusades in the name of those who have no right to live, in spite of despair and sorrow, despite mass murders and terrible crimes against our animal companions, despite this horrible routine which has even surpassed the Hell of Dante.
Because we are those who love and protect the life, we are the pioneers of animal renaissance!
To all my guests, in my country and all over the world, all those who demonstrate daily courage, nerves, sensitivity in the fight for a better future for our animal companions, I send warmest wishes for the best in the future, my support, my respect.
