 Today we have been in contact with the EU Commission relating to our letter of August and the 8 hour maximum journey time for animals in transport.

Having still not had a response from the EU Commission involved, we today talked with a researcher for the Commission to ask why we had not had a reply; and when were we going to get one ?

We were verbally informed that a formal response had been sent by post to us on 16/10/14. 

Thus, it should be arriving with us in England any day soon.

When it does arrive, we will be publishing and commenting on the letter on this site.

If all goes well we hope for further news by the end of this week – say 24/10/14.

Serbia: 17/10/14 – ‘Nani’ Deer Latest. Still No Action From Serbian Minister; But Nani Campaigners Now Take Action With EU MEP’s !

The situation at this present time is that ‘Nani’ deer is still being retained by the hunters.

We are now approximately 2 months into still not having a decision / action by Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Mrs Bogosavljevic Boskovic; who originally had 30 days for acting in agreement to Article 58 of Serbian Law for Animal Welfare.  

We consider this shows just how chronically bad the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture is as it is still not capable of making a decision some 30 days BEYOND its final decision date under existing Serbian Law !!

So, On 16/10/14 SAV made telephone contact with Members of the European Parliament (MEP) in London to explain the current situation of Nani and the fact that Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Mrs Bogosavljevic Boskovic is incapable of still making a decision on the future of Nani.

We constantly reminded MEP’s that any member state currently seeking EU Accession (membership) must be continually showing that it is ‘applying the rule of law’ with regard its own national legislation.

Applying the Serbian rule of law is certainly not the case regarding the situation with ‘Nani’, as Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Mrs Bogosavljevic Boskovic originally had 30 days for acting in agreement to, and implementing Article 58 of Serbian Law for Animal Welfare.

By not applying its own rule of law, Serbia is NOT currently meeting the membership requirements even needed to be considered for EU membership.  We again reminded the MEP’s of this situation, who are going to work further on the issue of ‘Nani’ today; 17/10/14.

Making a decision on the future of a deer is not ‘rocket science’, and yet Serbian Ministers DO NOT seem capable of doing it.  Is it a corruption issue between the Ministers, police and hunters one has to question; or is it simply that Serbian government ministers cannot and do not wish to apply existing Serbian legislation (laws) to the running of Serbia ???

Something in Serbian legislation is drastically wrong, and we suggest it starts at the top and works down, from Ministers such as (Serbian) Minister of Agriculture, Mrs Bogosavljevic Boskovic.

 

From the very start, we said that we would never give up on the issue of ‘Nani’; until Nani is rightfully returned to adoptive parent and carer Mrs Mitic.  This is still the case; until we get a decision that Nani returns to Mrs. Mitic, we will continue to show to you, and to EU MEP’s, that Serbia is NOT enforcing its own rules of law.

The Serbian government has to live with that – do they abuse their own national legislation system and continue to be shown by organisations such as us that they are certainly not worthy EU membership candidates at present; or do they implement Serbian national law, do the right this and return Nani deer to owner Mrs. Mitic.

We were informed by London on 16/10 that we would be getting an update on the situation with regard their actions in the very near future.  We will post this as applicable on this site.

Hunters and the police took away a motherless baby deer from his home and his foster and now want to put him into a zoo. Their first plan was to slaughter him (as it is the usual practice here), but because of the public reaction the baby was saved. However he is not cared for properly. He has diarrhea and shows signs of stress and fear. He misses his caretaker very much and that feeling is mutual. The struggle to gain him back lasts for more than two weeks. Authorities are not doing their job and it may cost this baby deer’s life. Minister of Agriculture can issue an order that will bring Nani back home and there is a legitimate possibility for that however that is not happening even though Nani’s family has requested it. If Nani ends up in a zoo it will seal his life as a captive animal for good. Please help!

Here we go yet again – the ‘other’ part of the UK coalition government who are now telling us there are more important things to be done.  And this from the man who has a 7% popularity vote from the public this week ! – would you not think (as a so called ‘Liberal’) that he would realise that there are many votes to be won out there from a party that shows interest and action for animals ?

And all the while, wild animals such as tigers and zebras continue to be hauled around England. We are calling on the Government to make good on their promise and take action now to end this outdated practice.”

Just days before MP Jim Fitzpatrick’s Bill to ban the use of wild animals in English circuses is given its second reading in the House of Commons, a concerning letter penned by Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, has arrived at CAPS HQ. 

In it, and despite repeated assertions that the promised ban is still very much on the Parliamentary agenda, Clegg states that he “understand[s] why it was felt that other policy issues had to take priority for the final parliamentary session”. We are deeply concerned that this indicates that the ban has been shelved by the authorities. 

But all is not lost!

Jim Fitzpatrick’s Private Members’ Bill has its second reading in Parliament this Friday. If the initiative is successful, the ban could be introduced in spite of the Government’s failure to act.

Captain Paul Watson:  Legal Victory in the Faroe Islands

The Danish Court in the Faroe Islands has ruled that the seizure of the British registered Sea Shepherd vessel “Spitfire” by the Danish Navy was illegal. The “Spitfire” has been ordered returned to Sea Shepherd U.K.

The Prosecutor has appealed the court’s decision and the court will decide tomorrow to accept or reject the appeal. The Faroe Islands police presently hold four Sea Shepherd boats. 1. Spitfire. 2. Loki. 3. B.S. Sheen. 4. Mike Galesi.

Sea Shepherd expects all the boats will be released as the charges are minor punishable by relative small fines and the boats are worth considerably more than the fines. Sea Shepherd will be pushing the issue of the deportation of Europeans from the Faroes with the European Parliament.

Sea Shepherd will also be challenging the European Parliament to demand compliance with European regulations protecting cetaceans as a condition for the Faroes to continue receiving subsidies from the European Union.

Great news! All across the United States, people who seriously abuse animal companions are more and more often receiving jail time rather than a slap on the wrist. While we’re not mentioned in this great first article link below, IDA frequently offers rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of animal abusers. We’ve had success as well. In one very recent instance, we offered a $2500 reward after 920 chickens were found bludgeoned to death on a California factory farm and the next day four people were arrested in connection with this crime.

Animal Experimenter Resigns in SHAME

They were left under heat lamps and heat pads for hours, completely forgotten by negligent staff and later found with third-degree burns. Their burns were so bad that their skin had peeled off and muscle was slipping off their bones.

Not only that, but while investigating this cruelty, PETA was able to snag proof that Charles Rupprecht, then-chief of the CDC’s rabies program, injected monkeys with a dangerous strain of rabies without protecting his staff from the disease.

The good news? Charles Rupprecht has been banned from all CDC animal laboratories and, because of PETA’s investigation, was forced to resign from his associate dean position at Ross University!

The animal abusers may run, but because of rock stars like YOU, they cannot hide. And PETA means business. The CDC’s negligence has been exposed to the world, and now we’re looking at you, National Institutes of Health.

The second reading of Jim Fitzpatrick’s Bill to ban the use of wild animals in circuses was blocked on the 5th September in the House of Commons. This is common practice and something which is disappointing, but not unexpected.

The second reading has been rescheduled for the 17th October, and that day is fast approaching!

If you have not done so yet, please write to your MP to ask them to support the Bill at its rescheduled second reading on the 17th October.

Background to the Bill

On the 3rd September 2014, Jim Fitzpatrick MP brought forward his “Ten Minute Rule Bill” to ban the use of wild animals in English circuses.

The “first reading” carried out in Parliament is the first of a number of steps needed if we are to see Jim’s Bill become the long-awaited law which will see an end to the suffering of wild animals exploited by the circus industry. The Bill passed on that day to the second reading stage unopposed, which is promising news, but there is still much to be done

It is widely accepted that Bills introduced by backbench MPs are notoriously difficult to get onto the statute book so it is absolutely vital that we take every step possible to support the Bill before its second reading on the 17th October.

That’s why we are asking you to write immediately to your MP to ask them that they support Jim Fitzpatrick’s Bill to ban wild animal circuses.

Said CAPS Director, Liz Tyson:

“Despite promise after promise, the government has failed to come good for the animals still being exploited daily by UK circuses. This is an opportunity to make our voices heard. We know that you have written time and time again to officials on this issue but we need you to do it again. Please act now if you haven’t already”.

CAPS and campaign partners at the Born Free Foundation, British Veterinary Association and the RSPCA, along with other animal protection groups and individual campaigners, have worked to see this ban implemented for decades.

As part of a joint initiative in the last few months, over 2,000 emails have been sent from CAPS supporters to David Cameron and Nick Clegg asking them to honour the government’s promise to ban.

A public consultation in 2010 saw 95% of respondents calling for an end to the use of wild animals in circuses.

Dopunjavamo prijavu konstatacijom da resursi Ministarstva poljoprivrede i zaštite životne sredine nisu partijski  plen SPS , da može I dalje da radi ko šta hoće i dalje crpi javni novac i presipa u bezdane  i  crpi prirodne resurse Srbije,  te s toga  Vlada RS, na čelu sa premijerom i potpredsednicima Vlade  mora da izvrši nadzor nad radom i zakonitošću rada ministarke  gosp. Snežane Bogosavljević -Bošković I probudi je iz komatoznog stanja nečinjenja I nezakonitog činjenja zaposlenih  u tom ministarstvu,  ili je smeni sa te funkcije.

Načelnik RVI Kruševac nam se smeje u lice i kaže, ma  pišite šta hoćete, …..briga je otrpilike, .po  prijavama ne postupa ,ili postupa mimo zakona, ne dostavlja odgovore,  neće da primi prijavu i nikom ništa, a takvo bezobrazno  ponašanje dolazi samo od zaštite ministra i Uprave za veterinu koja godinama održava  haotično stanje u toj oblasti izlažući i građane opasnosti od zaraza, kao i životinje.

Činjenično stanje je da se u ovom ministarstvu ne menja ama baš ništa godinama, isti ljudi sede I dalje krše Zakone RS I dalje oštećuju budžet RS I mnogo koštaju poreske obveznike za sav haos I korupciju koju održavaju sistematski a  korupcionaški zidovi su neprobojni za nas kao NVO.

Ministarka Snežana Bogosavljević -Bošković je partijski kadar SPS-a. Ukoliko nije sposobna da se nosi sa napornim ministarskim poslom, neka sama ode! Ili je smenite!

Umesto nje, predlažemo, postavite gosp. Zoranu Mihajlović da raščisti to i zavede red, jer je ovo ministarstvo ogromno i mnogo budžetskih para troši, problemi su ogromni i traju, ništa se ne menja!  Godinama !!! Načelnik RVI za Srbiju,  gosp. Sanja Čelebićanin je ista godinama i godinama traje sav haos, nerad i neprimanjivanje Zakona  svih RVI u Srbiji   i nikom ništa!

Ministarstvo unutrašnjih  poslova I gosp. Nebojša Stefanović sa pratećim službama u koje verujemo,  mora da počisti PU Kruševac u PS Ćićevac od nepotizma, rođačko partijskog zapošljavanja I svih zloupotreba službenog položaja koji iz toga proističu. Samo za slučaj nezakonitog oduzimanja laneta Nani u Ćićevcu uz asistenciju pol. insp. Vidakovića , podneli smo 3 dopune pritužbe na rad I na kraju na odluku komisije, žalbu ,u samo 2 meseca,  podneli smo i više prijava za zlostavljanje predmetnog laneta na razne načine, I policiji I republičkoj veterinarskog inspekciji u Kruševcu, niko ni ušima ne mrda, svi ne čine ništa, plata ide redovno, oni “spavaju”  jer ne mogu da pokidaju korupcionaške lance u koje su se sami zavezali.

Ministarka ćuti a ćute I nadležni u policiji koji bi morali postupati.

Insistiramo da se lane Nani , zatočeno u fazaneriji LU Ćićevac,  odmah  vrati u svoju ljudsku porodicu u Ćićevcu koja ga željno očekuje I od njega na taj način otklone sve opasnosti kojima je izloženo puna 2 meseca.  Procedura po zakonu se može završtiti ali lane mora biti bezbedno,  mi ne možemo pod takvom presijom I kršenjem zakona sedeti mirno a ne možemo ni  podnositi prijave za šta postoje dokazi jer prijave stoje negde u fijoci,  samo se LU Ćićevac obavesti da ima nova prijava i tako lane može stradati kad se predsedniku LU Miliji Đorđeviću koji vedri i oblači u Ćićevcu i okolini smuči i lane I prijave, i lane “nestane” ,  a  sve to  štiti  upravo ministar poljoprivrede I unutrašnjih poslova svojim nečinjenjem.

Ponavljamo opet, da pitomo lane Nani po Zakonu o divljači I lovstvu nije lovna divljač te s toga LU Čićevac uopšte nije smelo da ga oduzima.

Insistiramo na hitnom postupanju I hitnom dostavljanju odgovora šta je učinjeno po ovoj  prijavi.
