Please support them !
20/3/16 – Additional video added;
Watch the truly incredible recovery of a girl who is as sweet as she is strong. She was suffering from a massive cancerous transmissible venereal tumor. In India, one can see these tumors from time to time among both boy and girl dogs. If caught early, and if a dog’s condition is good, it can often be treated with a chemotherapy drug called Vincristin which can shrink the tumor til it’s completely gone. But side effects from Vincristine can be very serious–extreme loss of appetite and nausea is one of the most dangerous. In this case, the tumor was caught at a very advanced stage. A tumor this size means months of treatment. We debated euthanasia but the little girl–“Missy”–was in such vigorous good health and had such an appetite for life (and food!) that we knew we had to give it a try. To our delight, within 4 months the tumor has disappeared and her overall health is robust! During her long recovery Missy made friends from nurses to cleaners to volunteers–everyone fell in love with this spectacularly determined beauty.

Donations for food:
—————————————–
Message:
Lina’s animal rescue in Coka, Serbia has tried desperately to keep her shelter open despite lack of funding.
There are approx 30 dogs being cared for and they have been without food now for a few days.
FIVE of these dogs are READY FOR TRAVEL to be adopted ( all required testing, vaccines, certificates are completed).
Due to lack of funding and the recent loss of electricity ( and no help in sight) the founder is struggling to find a solution and may end up opening the gates in the hopes that these dogs may have a better chance on the streets.
I have been a dedicated supporter for approx 2 years and have been impressed with the dedication, knowledge, high level of integrity and enormous level of care given to these unfortunate animals.
Is there ANYTHING you can do to help?
Here is the link to their Facebook page where you can find out more about them.

Dear Mark,
I will never forget the shock I felt the first time I laid eyes on Scooter. She was dragging herself along on the ground because both her hind legs had been hacked off. Her spine was broken.

Scooter’s lower body was covered in open, infected sores. They were infested with maggots, indicating that she had been living like this for some time. Her underside was swollen from where she pulled herself along on the ground, leaving her incontinent.
We will never know what happened to Scooter or how she came to lose her back legs. We will never know how long she suffered with her badly broken spine. What I do know is that without people like you, she would not be alive today.

After a few months of treatment at Soi Dog’s shelter, Scooter was adopted by a wonderful lady in the U.S. named Willow. Waving goodbye to her as she left for her new life in New York, I knew this was the beginning of a whole new chapter for Scooter.
Willow took Scooter to meet Dr Frye at Cornell University where work began on a specially constructed cart. Scooter was hesitant the first time she tried to use the cart and just stood there lifting her front legs up and down. And then Willow moved away to the corner of the room and called her.

Scooter took a tentative step forward. Willow called her again. And that was all it took.
In a flash, Scooter suddenly understood what she was supposed to do and there was no stopping her! For the first time in who knows how long, she was walking without having to drag herself on the ground. And then, she was running.
With Dr. Frye guiding her on a lead Scooter ran outside into the warm sunshine. She suddenly recalled what it meant to be able to run. She remembered how it felt to be free!
Please help to rescue more dogs like Scooter and give them the second chance they deserve. By becoming a member of the Emergency Response Team you will be the difference between life and death for so many. To save dogs just like Scooter today, please click here.
Thank you for helping homeless dogs like Scooter find the life they deserve.
Best Wishes,
John Dalley
Co-Founder,
Soi Dog Foundation
P.S. Without the generous support of people just like you, Scooter would still be suffering on the streets, if she was even still alive at all. Scooter was saved, but tragically, there are still thousands of dogs who need to be urgently rescued. Only you can make this happen.

See more about Celeste, including photos; on our post of 21/2/16:

Celeste was operated on two days ago and it’s turned out that she was in a lot worse shape than we expected. She was initially supposed to have only a spay surgery, but she had multiple mammary tumors which should always be regarded as potentially malignant and the only thing the vet could do was to completely remove both of the mammary gland chains and associated lymph nodes. Celeste endured the massive surgery surprisingly well, but during the night she tore up the gauze bandages and we feared that she would rip out the stitches as well, so off to the vet we went again.

Luckily, she hasn’t tried to take off the bandages since; she is being given antibiotics and painkillers and she began to eat yesterday evening. The bad news is that the long-term prognosis for a cat with mammary tumors is guarded, as up to 65% of surgically removed tumors reoccur within a year. Most of the kitties survive less than a year after being diagnosed with this life threatening disease, although there are always some fortunate ones which are able to fully recover and never have any additional problem.

We’ll certainly do everything we can to help her overcome her ordeal, but only time will tell about the outcome. And it could have all been avoided had she been spayed in time… One way or the other, Celeste’s long and winding journey to happiness has just begun.
Please, help us make the rest of her life, which hasn’t been exactly an awesome one so far, as great as possible! https://www.youcaring.com/cat-shelter-felix-512392

PLEASE SHARE AND HELP IF YOU CAN!

Celeste’s loving elderly owner passed away four months ago and she had been living all alone at their once happy home ever since, spending her days waiting for someone who would never come back.

She was fed regularly by her owner’s nephew but she was shy, reserved and hardly ever left her hiding places behind the furniture. Eventually the apartment got emptied out and Celeste was trapped; her owner’s relatives couldn’t or didn’t want to keep her, so she arrived at the shelter the next day. She’s probably around eight years old, but she’s still unspayed and although she doesn’t look sick, she has bald patches on her back and sides. The vet says it’s caused by a combination of hormonal issues and stress and it should resolve itself when she gets spayed. She also has mammary gland hyperplasia, a benign condition in which an excessive amount of tissue grows, resulting in enlarged masses in the mammary glands; she needs to be spayed as soon as possible and she has to be tested for FIV and FeLV. For now Celeste’s living in a cage in a separate room, as she might not feel comfortable in the presence of other cats just yet and we are trying to spare her any further stress and upset. Despite being a little fearful, she is extremely affectionate and cuddly when she lets her guard down. Please, help us give Celeste the chance of living a long, happy and healthy life in which she’ll never be abandoned and alone again! https://www.youcaring.com/cat-shelter-felix-512392

Almost three and a half months ago our lovely Sneska (whose kidneys were failing) was taken off of her meds which couldn’t help her get healthier anyway. She has CKD and her kidneys have been in terrible shape for months, causing uremic stomatitis which made chewing very painful for her.

However, she clearly showed us she was living a miserable life being pricked every day, so we decided to let her spend whatever time she had left the way she wanted, with no meds and no fear. To everyone’s huge surprise, she is still holding on, her appetite is good and she doesn’t look any worse than at the beginning of November – on the contrary, she is adventurous, sparkly eyed and happy:) Maybe true contentment does come from within… https://www.youcaring.com/cat-shelter-felix-512392

We first laid eyes on Attila last spring, when he was a stray tom roaming the village but he was extremely distrustful of people and impossible to catch. We tried and put a humane cat trap in a field where he was seen on a few occasions, but he’d never dreamt of getting near a trap, much less entering it, so all of our efforts ended up with a huge failure.
After that he disappeared and we hadn’t seen him in months, although we were notified that various people were running into him from time to time. Unfortunately he was always at a different location, incredibly cautious and he was fleeing at high speed as soon as he saw anyone approaching him.
Finally, after months of waiting, worrying and trying to figure out how to catch the uncatchable one, we received information that he was wandering in a nearby field, so we put a humane cat trap out there for the zillionth time and kept our fingers crossed that he would enter the trap at last. And he did, eventually, although he was hissing, growling and tried his best to break out of the trap, but the steel wire endured his attacks and he was successfully transferred to a larger cage, still furious and utterly unhappy.
BEFORE

His behavior changed drastically when he realized that he had his own cozy cat bed and regular tasty meals; in no time he began to knead his new bed and became as cuddly and sweet as can be.
The vet’s exam showed he was around four of five years old and FIV positive, which is not surprising considering the life he was leading. Anyway, he has been given Interferon since then and now the time is coming for his neutering surgery, which has to be done under inhalation anesthesia, as FIV positive cats are particularly sensitive when it comes to receiving anesthetics. He also needs to be vaccinated against contagious diseases and rabies, as well as microchipped before he can join the other cats.
Would you please consider contributing towards Attila’s expenses?
He will certainly become a magnificent fluffy beauty once he puts on some weight and we’re certain his coat will shine in all of its luxurious, fluffy glory after just some good food, love, care and maybe even a bath.
TODAY – THE HANDSOME BEAUTY !

This new chapter in his life has just begun and with your help, he’ll be getting healthier and more handsome by the day.
Thanks a lot in advance to all of you who are willing and able to help this gorgeous kitty boy become what he was meant to be from the very beginning!
