Stop the Planned Military Base in Okinawa.
Dear Mark,
Despite overwhelming opposition from the Okinawan people, their governor and scientists throughout the world, the Japanese and U.S. governments are moving to construct a controversial new air base in Japan’s Henoko Bay — the last refuge of the critically endangered Okinawa dugong, a distant relative of the manatee.
The Center has been fighting this project since 2003 — so stay strong with us and help save this irreplaceable “Galápagos of the East.”
The base will be built atop a coral-reef ecosystem that’s home to more than 1,000 species of fish, sea turtles and other marine life as well as dugongs.
We’re in court to stop the project, and Okinawa’s governor has rescinded a permit for the base. Yet this past month drilling surveys have proceeded on the project, even as the island’s people have been putting their bodies in the path of construction.
Please demand that President Obama and Prime Minister Shinzō Abe stop this atrocity against nature and the Okinawan people.

Activists Sue Oregon to Protect State’s Endangered Gray Wolves
Oregon wildlife officials took wolves off the state endangered species list in November.

Oregon’s recent move to reduce protections for wolves is going to court.
On Dec. 30, three nonprofits filed a lawsuit challenging a November decision by the state’s Department of Fish and Wildlife to remove gray wolves from the Oregon endangered species list.
The groups charge that the agency failed to follow the best available science on the health of the wolf population, “prematurely removing protections before wolves are truly recovered,” according to a statement from the Center for Biological Diversity, which joined Oregon Wild and Cascadia Wildlands in taking the state to court. “With only about 80 known adult wolves mostly confined to one small corner of the state, Oregon’s wolf population is far from recovery.”
Gray wolves, which are native to Oregon, were once found statewide and numbered in the hundreds or thousands. But an active statewide eradication program, which paid bounties for dead wolves, wiped out the population between the early 1840s and the late 1940s. The current packs are descended from wolves that were reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park and in the state of Idaho in the 1990s, whose populations have grown and spread westward.
Today’s Oregon wolves occupy only a small fraction of their former range. There were 81 known wolves in Oregon at the end of 2014, according to the Department of Fish and Wildlife, and of 16 packs counted in 2015, 13 had pups during the summer.
Removing the wolves—which continue to have federal endangered species protections—from the state endangered species roster didn’t affect how the animals are being managed in Oregon, according to a November statement from the wildlife agency. “Any take of wolves is highly regulated in Oregon, and the delisting does not mean additional take is now allowed,” the agency stated. “Hunters and trappers may not take wolves in Oregon at this time. The Wolf Plan does not allow for general season sport hunting of wolves in any phase of wolf management.”
But the move might pave the way for expanded wolf hunting if the species’ status under federal law changed in the future.
“Though Oregon’s Wolf Management Plan is working for all but the most anti-wolf interests, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is reigniting old conflicts by caving to political pressure and giving serious consideration to weakening basic protections for wolves, allowing ranchers the flexibility to shoot them if they are believed to be posing a threat to livestock,” Oregon Wild stated on its website.
The agency, however, called the decision to delist the wolf at the state level “a vote of confidence” in how the state was balancing the conservation of wolves with the concerns of ranchers.

Target: Searcy County Sheriff Joey Pruitt
Goal: Punish those responsible for the poisoning and shooting of 61 dogs to the fullest extent of the law.
Several dozen dead dogs were recently found in the Searcy County, Arkansas woods. Two men from a logging company stumbled upon the scene, which included not only dead, bullet-riddled corpses, but a few live animals that were shot and left to die.
A search of the area by police and Searcy County Humane Society staff revealed 57 dead dogs and four live ones, one of which had to be euthanized due to its extreme injuries.
Investigators suspect that the dogs were poisoned until they were immobilized, and then shot. According to Searcy County Sheriff Joey Pruitt, no dogs have gone missing from the immediate area. Some suspect that the dogs could be from an animal hoarder’s home, fighting rings, or a failed puppy mill operation. According to officials, the perpetrator of this crime could face felony animal cruelty charges.
Humane society staff are still trying to rescue the surviving dogs by luring them with food. They are skittish around humans, getting up to run away despite massive injuries. One of the survivors, a male, is currently at the shelter recovering from a bullet wound to the shoulder and will soon be ready for adoption.
In order to stop these barbaric killings, it is imperative that police and animal welfare investigators work together to quickly apprehend the person or people responsible. Due to the shocking severity of the crime, the perpetrator should be punished to the full extent of the law. Recently, the bullet-riddled bodies of 57 dogs were found in a remote area of Searcy County forest. The dogs are believed to have been poisoned before they were shot in order to render them immobile. Four dogs were found alive, though one was euthanized due to its poor health. As there have been no reports of stolen dogs, it is suspected that the dogs may have come from the home of an animal hoarder, a failed breeding operation, or even a dog fighting ring.
This crime is incredibly shocking due to the sheer number of animals killed. In order to stop the person responsible from killing more animals, it is imperative that they are found as quickly as possible. We, the undersigned, urge you to pursue the harshest possible charges against the perpetrator of this barbaric crime.

A PETA eyewitness has caught the owner of the tiger used in Life of Pi, Bowmanville Zoological Park owner Michael Hackenberger, on video viciously whipping another Siberian tiger named Uno approximately 20 times in a row during a savage training session. The young tiger was so traumatized that he involuntarily emptied his anal sacs, a fear response in big cats. “I got a bit angry there,” Hackenberger later admitted.

Please support the vast majority of the British people and sign this petition.
Brits are sick to death of seeing animals killed in this way because certain ‘religions’ say that it has to be done that way. If people of these religions want to live in the UK / Europe; then they follow UK / European law, which says that all animals must be stunned prior to slaughter.
Take action against a gutless government who are out of touch with the real world and real people in the UK. Cameron has a lot to answer for !

Under British Law, animals must be stunned before slaughter, and not killed in full view of other animals.
Halal slaughter is a cruel, barbaric way to slaughter an animal. Denmark, Sweden, Germany Norway and the Netherlands have banned halal slaughter, and as an animal loving nation, we are petitioning for the same to happen here. We are angry at the food industry for pandering to the minority group that want halal foods, and we want you to stand up and set an example that halal is wrong.
It is completely unnecessary because the people who eat this food can say a prayer over the food which enables them to eat it.
We ask you to respect the wishes of the British people who are against halal and remove this from our foods. The Danish PM said animal rights have to come above religious rights, and we believe that in the year 2015, this is true.

A new report commissioned by the League Against Cruel Sports shows that, despite being illegal for over 150 years there is still a dog fight going on somewhere in the UK every day.
Dog fighting is incredibly cruel. Organised dog fights can last up to five hours with horrific injuries sustained by the animals involved. Those that don’t die during the fight are often patched up using crude methods including supergluing torn ears or stapling wounds closed.
Cruel training methods involve putting a smaller ‘bait’ animal – often a cat or a rodent – just out of reach for hours whilst the dog strains against a tether. Eventually, the tether is removed and the dog set on the bait.
Dog fighting is one of the most barbaric forms of animal abuse that still takes place in the UK. It should have been confined to history alongside bear baiting and cockfighting, yet it still takes place every day.
You can make a difference by contacting the Home Secretary Theresa May asking her to take action on dog fighting.

MFA Exposes MFA Exposes Criminal Animal Abuse at Perdue Farms
The following is a copy of the letter sent by Nathan. Please make sure you watch the video (even only once – which shows all the animal abuses) and then please sign the petition – thank you – after all the different expose work undertaken by MFA at different animal facilities; if people still want to eat meat then there is no real answers for them – this is all just clear animal abuse which goes completely against the ‘animal welfare’ crap which these places put out to their customers.

The images are heartbreaking, and stomach-turning. A new Mercy For Animals undercover investigation into Perdue Farms has uncovered disturbing cruelty to animals, including a worker stomping chickens to death, and violently kicking birds and throwing them against walls. Our hidden camera also exposed thousands of chickens crammed into windowless sheds forced to live in their own waste and toxic ammonia fumes.
Bred to put on weight faster than their bodies can withstand, most of the birds have problems walking and many succumb to heart attacks. Before going to slaughter, they are grabbed by their legs and violently thrown into crates, suffering broken bones and other injuries. As a result of MFA’s breaking investigation, a Perdue Farms worker has just been arrested and charged with four felony counts of criminal cruelty to animals. This is a historic and groundbreaking legal move on behalf of birds raised for meat.
But we won’t stop there. Now we’re calling on Perdue—one of the largest poultry producers in the country—to stop paying lip service to animal welfare and implement meaningful policies and oversight at its facilities to end the worst forms of animal abuse.
