Just like the circus acts or the performances at SeaWorld, here again we clearly see an animal, in this case a German Shepherd; being forced to perform when it is obviously clear to anyone that the animal is more than reluctant to undertake what is being asked / forced of it.
Regardless of concern for the welfare of the animal, we see the ‘trainer’ clearly forcing the dog into a torrent of rapid flowing water. Judging by the actions of people at the end of the video below, it is clear that things did not go according to plan.
No doubt we will read in the credits that ‘no animal was harmed in the making of this film’. Maybe they should add to the statement ‘but animals were forced to perform stunts when it was clear from their behaviour that they did not wish to take part’.
Somehow we do not think this will happen.
Video link:
One of the dogs in the upcoming film “A Dog’s Purpose” desperately resisted shooting a risky scene, but chilling footage shows filmmakers apparently forcing the animal into rushing water.
TMZ obtained this video of a scene shot in a pool outside Winnipeg, Canada in November 2015. You can see a trainer forcibly shoving a German Shepherd — one of at least 5 dogs used in the production — into the frothing water, but the animal wanted NO part of it … and repeatedly clawed at the pool’s edge.
Sources connected to production tell us 8 outboard motors were used to churn the water and recreate a rushing river. The dog eventually got in the water — or was forced in — but was quickly submerged.
It’s unclear if the dog going under was scripted, but someone immediately yelled, “Cut it!” … and handlers rushed to the animal.

Thus Phadra speaks in the tragedy of Euripides “Hippolytus”:
“And lack of knowledge does not seem to me the cause of the evil to be Because proper insight and understanding Possess many –but this is the case:
We know and recognize the right and the good,
However, we do not do it-The one from comfort,
The others, because they want for some other affections To sacrifice the virtue”.
This gives us an explanation why we do not act morally, although we already know what is good. Because, when you look at the everyday crimes of people, it becomes clear that knowledge alone cannot move human beings to moral action. We know very much, we never had so much information about good and evil as today. Every day, there are undercover investigations in the public media, in the Internet, in the newspapers.
But we still act immorally. This proves that knowledge alone is not enough to move people to a moral action. But I consider it as an incomplete explanation. I am firmly convinced that not the knowledge, but the moral conviction, can move people to moral action.
There are many people who believe that animals must not be tortured. If one believes in it but does not act on it, then this conviction is not solid enough. And if the belief is not strong, then any good theory is useless.

The evidence for the strength of your beliefs is the strength of your actions.
When our children or grandchildren ask why we have not prevented the eradication of the primates or the suffering of animals, we can answer: “because we were cowardly and incapable of putting our moral convictions into practice. Maybe you can do it better “
Best Regards to all

Not in man’s knowledge, not in wisdom, lies
The lack that makes for sorrow. Nay, we scan
And know the right—for wit bath many a man—
But will not to the last end strive and serve.
For some grow too soon weary, and some swerve
To other paths, setting before the Right

Primate Extinction: ‘We could lose the lungs of the earth’
7 hours ago
Scientists are warning that almost two-thirds of primates, from gorillas to lemurs, are threatened with extinction and three-quarters are suffering declines in numbers.
Anna Nekaris, a professor in Primate Conservation at Oxford Brookes University, tells Today that losing species will have serious consequences for the rainforest and human medicine. She also says zoos are not the answer.
Primates ‘sliding towards extinction’, say scientists
18 January 2017 Last updated at 19:00 GMT
The world’s primates face “crisis” with 60% of species now threatened with extinction, according to research.
A global study, involving more than 30 scientists, assessed the conservation status of more than 500 individual species, including apes, monkeys, lemurs and lorises.
The findings are published in the journal Science Advances.
Victoria Gill visited the lemurs at Blackpool Zoo to explain the threat.
Primates like gorillas, orangutans and lemurs are facing an ‘extinction crisis’ according to a new study.
It looked at more than 500 species of primates around the world and found that 60% of them were facing extinction.
When an animal becomes extinct, it means that there are no more left on the planet.
The study also shows that, out of all the primates in the world, three quarters of them are in decline – meaning numbers are going down.

This is an urgent appeal to provide protection and help to the strays of Bor. Temperatures have currently reached minus 25 degrees and it may get worse. Stray animals desperately need help – people are ready to help them, and currently are, but they need extra donations for food. Give what you can thank you – SAV.
——————————-
Unfortunately the winter in Bor, Eastern Serbia, is cruel, icy, as in Siberia.
According to the weather forecast the worst is yet to come, and thus the greatest anguish and dread for stray dogs. It is estimated that in Bor there are around 1,000 stray dogs from which most of them are helpless: puppies, bitches with puppies, old or injured dogs, and all of them are unprotected during this ´´ice age´´.
Few good people volunteer and offered to set up dog houses with straw all over the city, the greater the number, the better.
That is why they need YOU good people to help them to realize the idea.
Please donate even a few euros, no amount is little!
Please give anything you can – even a small donation helps the animals.

I was informed by an animal protection organization that a shark aquarium is planned in Sinsheim. Sinsheim has 35,000 inhabitants and is located in the south of Germany.
An investor wants to build the biggest shark aquarium in Europe: “Shark City”.
Dives in the basins are planned, but also a so-called touch pool for touching the animals.

My first thought was: in which century do these cave-men live? But with thoughts we can not save animals, actions maybe more helpful!
I wrote and sent this letter to the mayor.
If someone wants to protest, can also send the same letter. The more the better.
Regards
Venus

Please copy the letter (preferably the German version) and send to the Mayor as soon as possible. Please ensure you state your nationality so that he is aware of the worldwide attention on this issue.
Thank you – SAV
(The English version)

Dear Lord Mayor, I have just learned that the city of Sinsheim plans a shark aquarium. The first thought was: in which century do these people live? Worldwide is growing the criticism of the keeping from wild animals in captivity.
In the last few years, seven dolphinariums have closed in Germany alone, zoos are scarcely gaining more visitors and survive only on the basis of state subventions. And your city intends to build a “Shark City”?
Sharks are highly developed and extremely intelligent animals. Keeping these animals in an aquarium is –polite formulated-ethically intolerable.
It is well-known, depending on the sensitivity of the shark species, that many animals die already during the catch or during the transport. And even those who are living in a “basins of Sinsheim” certainly do not have a high life expectancy. Wild caught animals often die within a year.
It is also known that there are no offspring in many species of sharks that live in captivity. The operators of “Shark City” will have to resort to wild catches, they have already admitted. Are you informed about this all?
A necessity for the construction of such a shameful large aquarium does not exist-except to save money on suffering of the animals. And not even that is certain. Such a business is not contemporary, nor a sign of a progressive city.
I ask you immediately to prevent the construction of “Shark City”.
Best regards

Target: Joseph Buser, Montgomery County Prosecutor
Goal: Seek the maximum penalty possible for man who reportedly hog-tied a cat, set her on fire, then tossed her from a car window.
A man allegedly hog-tied all four feet of a live cat named Phoenix, then doused her in gasoline and set her on fire. An M-80 explosive was also attached to the rope that bound her. After being set on fire, the helpless cat was then tossed from a car window and left to suffer in the most horrifying way imaginable. Steve Wright, a witness, was looking out the window when he saw a a burst of fire flying about six feet into the air followed by the sound of a cat screeching in pain. The vehicle sped away, and the cat miraculously began trying to move. Though the cat was rescued, she later died from her injuries.
Noah Riley, a 19-year-old man, was arrested for the disturbing crime, and has been charged with cruelty to an animal and abandoning and neglecting an animal. It’s clear that this crime was spurred by pure evil and malice. Setting a live animal on fire is bad enough, but to also include an explosive indicates that the person who did this wanted to create as much suffering and damage as possible. This is a sadistic act of cruelty inflicted upon a small, helpless, and harmless creature. It’s exactly the kind of animal cruelty that’s common among people who have the tendencies of a mass murderer. It’s up to us to help make sure that this innocent cat is given justice, and to demand that other creatures be protected from the alleged monster who did this.
Please sign this petition to demand that this person, if found guilty, be punished to the fullest extent the law allows, and banned from ever owning animals in the future.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Mr. Buser,
A man allegedly hog-tied a cat named Phoenix, doused her in gasoline, and then set her on fire. The helpless cat was then tossed from a car window where she was found by witnesses.
This disturbing act of sadistic cruelty against a helpless, harmless animal is indicative of a highly dangerous person. We’re calling on you to bring this poor cat justice, and protect the rest of society from a possibly dangerous person by seeking the maximum possible penalty.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]

Have you ever thought to yourself, “I’d love to live in a tiny concrete pit with an algae-coated swimming pool one day”?

Neither did bears Sierra and Ursula and mountain lions Bart and Bret—but that’s exactly where they’re forced to live.
Spring River Park & Zoo in Roswell, New Mexico, confines them to tiny, virtually barren holes in the ground, where they have practically nothing to do all day except pace back and forth.

PETA even offered to help the roadside zoo place them at reputable sanctuaries at no cost, but it refused. It seems like it would rather exploit these animals than help them, which is why they need our help.

25th January is a crucial day for the animal welfare movement. Members of the European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee will be voting on a report that could pave the way for legislation to protect the welfare of Europe’s 320 million* farmed rabbits.
This vote is the best chance of securing new legislation for Europe’s farmed animals we have seen in over a decade, and we need to send a message loud and clear to the MEPs on the Committee to urge them to back the report and ensure Europe’s farmed rabbits are given the protection they need.

The vote in the Committee is vital, it is the first hurdle we have to overcome to get protection for rabbits in front of the full European Parliament for a vote in the spring. We’ll need your support ahead of that vote too, but for now, will you take a moment to email the Committee members from your country and ask them to back this opportunity to improve farmed rabbit welfare?

E mail the committee now –
Over 99% of rabbits farmed for meat in the EU spend their lives confined to tiny, barren cages. If successful, this report would call on the European Commission to introduce legislation that would require the gradual phasing out of all cages – leading to an eventual ban on the caging of all the EU’s farmed rabbits.
