Stop Congress From Crippling the Endangered Species Act
The wildlife protection laws for more than 40 years.
Yet, this Congress has pushed more than 80 legislative proposals to dramatically reduce protections for imperiled wildlife protected under the Endangered Species Act.
If adopted, these measures would weaken the act and thus undermine the conservation of endangered wildlife for decades to come. Big polluting industries, including the hydropower industry, have teamed up with their allies in Congress to try to roll back protections for wildlife, fish, and their habitats, claiming that regulations under the Endangered Species Act will increase costs for consumers or force businesses like mining operations to close.
Do you want to use your voice to help protect fish, wildlife, and our natural heritage?

Dear Mark,
One of the ocean’s most remarkable creatures is disappearing at an alarming rate – and they desperately need your help!
The majestic manta ray is in trouble. Weighing as much as a Toyota Prius with a wingspan twice the size of the largest bird, mantas are being overfished and pushed to the brink of extinction.
But you can help! The National Marine Fisheries Services (NMFS) is considering listing these amazing creatures under the Endangered Species Act, and they want your comments now.
Globally, populations are believed to have declined by at least 30%, but some manta populations have declined as much as 86%!
The main culprit driving the recent decline is demand for the mantas’ gill rakers, a part of their gills used to filter water and extract food, which can fetch nearly $300 apiece in Asian markets.
Other threats facing mantas include demand for the rays’ meat and skin, entanglement in fishing lines, loss of coral reef habitat and ocean pollution.

Lovely Kasper, who was saved from a shelter that burned to the ground in 2011 and has been through hell and back already is seriously ill. He’s had episodes of diarrhea every six months or so for years now and it was as though he had some gastrointestinal disorder, but when his stools have become loose and watery again, for the zillionth time, a UV scan was done and showed Kasper’s real problem is CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease). His kidneys are failing and that’s why he’s had diarrhea on and off for ages. He’s currently being fed a specific veterinary therapeutic diet with a restricted protein and phosphate content designed to support kidney function and minimize the complications of CKD.
We’ve ordered Ipakitine, a chitosan-based phosphate binder and uremic reducer from Hungary for him and Sneska, as we can’t find it here in Serbia. At this point, it’s impossible to tell how much time he has left, but we’ll do our best to improve the quality of his life and slow the progression of the disease.
