WAV Comment – the is always big talk from China; but look at the last paragraph here – ‘According to a price list that circulated on China’s internet, one of the merchants at the Wuhan market at the virus epicentre sold a vast menagerie of animals including civets, rats, snakes, giant salamanders and live wolf pups’. So this is what they call ‘controlling’ it, is it ?
We as an organisation have always joined with many other conservationist groups in saying:
‘The coronavirus epidemic had highlighted “the prominent problem of excessive consumption of wild animals, and the huge hidden dangers to public health and safety’
‘Conservationists say China is the single biggest country driving consumption of many threatened species, and that animals are routinely subjected to horrible conditions and cruel treatment’.
China has now spread this illness of death all over the planet; the animals are biting back ! – global trade; tourism and big bucks are now paying as a result.
Only when China wakes up to the real reality of what caused this; a non enforcement and controls that they have never adopted in the world of animal welfare; will it start to make progress. At the moment it is still a big animal ‘Karma’ – nature is biting back; and hard !
Wake up China; we want respect and protection in law for all animals. More to this, we want you to enforce the law and not do yukspeak only.
China bans human consumption and trade of wild animals
BEIJING, CHINA — China on Monday declared an immediate and “comprehensive” ban on the trade and consumption of wild animals, a practice believed responsible for the deadly coronavirus outbreak.
The country’s top legislative committee approved a proposal “prohibiting the illegal wildlife trade, abolishing the bad habit of overconsumption of wildlife, and effectively protecting the lives and health of the people,” state television reported.
Previous temporary bans have been put in place, including after the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) virus killed hundreds of people in China and Hong Kong in 2002-03 and was also traced to wild animal consumption.
That prohibition was short-lived, however, and conservationists have long accused China of tolerating a cruel trade in wild animals as exotic menu items or for use in traditional medicines whose efficacy is not confirmed by science.
The decision was made by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), which oversees the country’s rubber-stamp legislature.
The coronavirus epidemic had highlighted “the prominent problem of excessive consumption of wild animals, and the huge hidden dangers to public health and safety,” said the report by China Central Television (CCTV).
Chinese health officials have said the virus likely emerged from a market in the central city of Wuhan that sold wild animals as food.
The coronavirus has killed 2,592 people in China, infected some 77,000 others and paralysed the country’s economy.
It has also infected people in at least two dozen other countries, killing nearly 30, and its rapid global spread has raised fears of a full-blown pandemic.
The committee also on Monday decided to postpone this year’s NPC session — scheduled to begin in early March — which will delay any legal revisions on wildlife trade.
As a result, the Standing Committee issued a full ban immediately until final legislation can be passed, CCTV said.
There already are laws in place against the wildlife trade, but conservationists say they are full of loopholes regarding many species, and that enforcement is episodic or just plain lax.
After the epidemic began exploding across the country, China late last month ordered a temporary ban “until the national epidemic situation is over”.
But conservationists and virologists said a temporary ban was not enough, calling for a permanent prohibition with tough enforcement.
Public health risk
Health experts warn that transporting, butchering and consuming wild species poses a significant and growing public health risk by exposing humans to dangerous animal-borne pathogens.
Conservationists say China is the single biggest country driving consumption of many threatened species, and that animals are routinely subjected to horrible conditions and cruel treatment.
The exact source of the coronavirus remains unconfirmed, with scientists variously speculating it originated in bats, pangolins, or some other mammal.
Scientists say SARS likely originated in bats, later reaching humans via civets.
According to a price list that circulated on China’s internet, one of the merchants at the Wuhan market at the virus epicentre sold a vast menagerie of animals including civets, rats, snakes, giant salamanders and live wolf pups.

Many people buy sheep and goat milk products without worrying about where this milk comes from.
Dairy companies often produce ads where happy lambs and goats graze in beautiful green fields.
But the reality of how that milk ended up on your supermarket shelf is cruel.
Cruel and deliberately kept in the dark.
Just like the cows, sheep and goats are forcibly impregnated and their babies are taken away from them within hours after birth.
Because the milk they produce is for a few billion consumers who don’t care about animal suffering.
The mothers are treated like milking machines and their babies are locked away as if they were objects, like uncomfortable by-products, thrown away to be killed at a later date.
Their life is hell on earth. WE, human beings have made animal life hell.
We act with our own judiciary.
Equipped with perfidious, ice-cold, cynical morality, we still remain barbarians towards the animal.
We value a high culture at every opportunity, and thereby commit the most hideous atrocities on millions of defenseless creatures every day.
“Only when this simple and undoubtedly valid truth has reached the people’s consciousness that the animals are mainly and essentially the same as we are, will the animals no longer stand as lawless beings”. Arthur Schopenhauer, German philosopher
And the next victim is already selected for the Easter circus.

Animals are capable of real love.
And not only this! they have the ability to express their feelings clearly.
Many people are not capable of this at all.
Animals are not hypocrites and there is nothing better than coming home and knowing that someone welcomes you with an open heart.

The truck loaded with 170 pigs was headed to a slaughterhouse in Cuenca when it has overturned at 9:05 am at km 23 of the A6 towards Madrid. Two of the animals have escaped from the vehicle while the rest, 168, have remained locked inside the dump truck for about 5 hours.
Time that animals have spent agonizing and crushing each other with their own weight.
The shrieks, deafening during the first two hours, have gone out as time went by. The transport company staff has not opened the truck until approximately 2:00 p.m.
Live animals, about a dozen, have been loaded into a new truck and taken to the slaughterhouse.
On the other hand, the injured have been sacrificed inside the truck itself.
Animal Equality will ask the Ministry of Agriculture and Food to make public the way in which the slaughter of these animals has been carried out, what standards and protocols have been followed.
In addition, the animal organization will demand the development of action protocols for accidents of this type that guarantee adequate and humane treatment.
The two pigs that have been released have been tied with ropes to the median by firefighters and subsequently dragged to the new truck to be and taken to the slaughterhouse.
The members of Animal Equality who have been present during the event have documented how the operators dealt with blows and kicks to the surviving pigs to get them into the new truck.
Animals are systematically ignored politically, as if they didn’t exist.
There are no animal rights anywhere in the world. Not a single animal has a single right.
Nowhere.
Only humans have rights, all other animal species have no rights.
We humans don’t know what it feels like to be without rights.
Transported in trucks for days as if the load were not living beings but sacks of potatoes.
And be picked up with cranes as if the living beings were fallen trees.
That is what I undestand under fascism.
With the right of the superior race to deny the right to life, freedom, integrity, protection to all other animal species.

From Mark (London) – For many years I have been a donative supporter of ‘Free Tibet’ (FT) which is based here in Ol’ London town. Why ? – read on please:
The vision is a Free Tibet in which Tibetans are able to determine their own future and the human rights of all are respected. FT campaign for an end to China’s occupation of Tibet and for international recognition of Tibetans’ right to freedom. FT mobilise active support for the Tibetan cause, champion human rights and challenge those whose actions sustain the occupation.
“Tibet today is one of the most repressed and closed societies in the world.”
– Senator Robert Menendez, Chair of US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, 2012
China invaded Tibet in 1950. Inside its borders and across the world, Tibetans have never stopped believing Tibet is a nation.
After more than 60 years of occupation, Tibetans still resist China’s rule and defy its oppression.
That’s is why they have my personal support.
If you believe in the rights of animals, as I do; then in some instances you believe in human rights also. A Free Tibet in which Tibetans are able to determine their own future and the human rights of all are respected is such just a case for me – I fully support the work and aims of FT.
The Tibetan Plateau, otherwise known as the Third Pole, is an extremely important region for global climate systems. This vast landscape is the birthplace of nine of Asia’s largest rivers, sustaining nearly two billion people. The plateau contains the largest amount of glacier ice outside of Antarctica and the North Pole and helps regulate climate systems across Asia.
However, Tibet’s unique environment is changing. Along with the Arctic and island nations, Tibet is on the frontline of global climate change and is warming three times faster than the rest of the world. Natural disasters such as droughts, landslides and floods are increasing in frequency. As glaciers and permafrost thaw, people in the mountains may be forced to migrate due to water shortages. Millions of people downstream may also feel the effects of this altered river flow. The health of Tibet’s environment will determine the health of climate systems across Asia and beyond.
“This blue planet is our only home and Tibet is its roof. The Tibetan plateau needs to be protected, not just for Tibetans, but for the environmental health and sustainability of the entire world.” – Dalai Lama
Free Tibet is calling for international recognition for Tibet at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow in 2020.
Help us secure a place for Tibet at COP26. Sign our petition today and in the autumn we will take your signatures to the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Environmental Affairs of participating countries.
Tibetans deserve representation and a say in their own environment.
We the undersigned request that your government ensures that there will be Tibetan representation at the upcoming COP26 climate meeting in Glasgow in November.
One of the key threats faced by Tibetans today is the eradication of their environment, and the most pressing and comprehensive threat to Tibet’s environment is that of climate change. The Tibetan Plateau contains the largest concentration of frozen freshwater outside of the Arctic and Antarctica. But, its glaciers are receding at three times the global average due to climate change, resulting in eight billion tonnes of ice being lost every year as glaciers disappear. Between 1970 and 2010, Tibet lost over 27 per cent of its glacier coverage.
The depletion of Tibet’s glaciers risks seriously disrupting the flow of Tibet’s rivers, posing a threat to rural Tibetans and people downriver who rely on this water. Tibet’s fragile ecosystem could also be seriously damaged. These negative effects could be greatly exacerbated by the current construction of dams across Tibet’s rivers.
These risks require decisive action. We urge your government to make a clear statement of support for Tibetans and recognising them as one of the frontline communities in the struggle against climate change.
Furthermore, we request that you invite a Tibetan to attend COP26, ideally as part of your country’s delegation, with a view to them addressing the conference. It is important that they can recount in their own words the threats to their land and livelihoods that Tibetans are being forced to confront.

Imagine that you are only a few days old.
You are taken from your mother and thrown into a freezing ice bath, until you pass out.
You wake up on a stainless steel table, with all of your limbs pinned down, as your flesh is sliced open with a scalpel.
When the work is done, you are left to writhe in pain.
If you die, it doesn’t matter.
How would you feel if this was your miserable life?
It’s the heartbreaking reality for many of the animals who cross paths with a “scientist” called Tania Roth …
For 18 years, this cruel scientist has subjected animals to torture for the sake of her experiments, and she is funded by the U.S. federal government!
She “has a long and fiendish history of tormenting and killing mice and rats and calling it science, and she has conducted a new round of experiments in which she slashed the spines of day-old baby rats”.
Behavioral tests were performed on some of the pups nine days later. Afterward, all the pups were killed and their spines were removed.
Before surgery, the babies were put into a freezing ice bath until they passed out, a painful process called hypothermia that Roth used instead of gas anesthesia.
Her publication noted that after surgery, she administered just one dose of pain medication.
There was no indication of any further pain relief.
“The point of Roth’s experiments is supposedly to examine changes in gene expressions in rats after their spinal cords are cut. But much like the full catalog of Roth’s gruesome work, it’s scientifically dubious, at best,” according to PETA.
But that’s just on notch her belt …
“Since 2000, Roth – now at the University of Delaware – has been abusing rats in psychologically distressing and painful experiments.
Some of her twisted methods include forcing alcohol down the throats of newborns, stuffing pregnant rats into tiny tubes and blasting them with strobe lights, and shocking the feet of rats to terrify them.
The tormented rats become fearful, anxious, and depressed – but because of significant biological differences between species, the results of her experiments are irrelevant to human health,” said PETA.
They continued on to say that her list of violence against animals “includes injecting them with opioids, tricking baby rats into believing that they’re in danger by smearing their enclosure with fox urine odor, electrocuting them, and taking them away from their mothers and placing them with traumatized adult rats incapable of taking care of them.
“In another bizarre experiment, she put rats inside a small plexiglass enclosure and allowed a cat to lick food off it.”
The image above, taken from an article on rodent handling and restraint techniques written by University of Notre Dame staff, depicts a restraint tube similar to the ones used by Roth in her experiment.
When Roth says rats are best suited for her experiments, what she really means is that they are cheap and disposable. She has repeatedly shown a lack of regard for sentient life and no qualms about killing large numbers of rats.
When her lab became contaminated with smoke from a fire, she had all 75 rats living in it killed just because she could no longer use them.
What sort of madness is this ?
“More than half of Americans oppose the use of animals in scientific research, according to a 2014 Pew survey,” reported Delaware Online.
And with good reason.
We all value science … but not at the expense of unforgivable acts of cruelty to animals.
The path forward is clear.
It’s time for this wicked “scientist”, Tania Roth, to be fired.
That’s why we’re called on University of Delaware’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee to do the right thing.
According to Delaware Online, they review protocols for animal use and care, and are authorized to suspend or withhold approval to research activities that violate federal standards.
They can also recommend that UD’s administration fire Tania Roth, so that she can never needless harm animals again. We’ll be contacted administration as well, to make sure they get this vital message.
Don’t you want to stop the cruel, heartless practice of cutting the spines out of babies, along with all the other horrific things she has done?
Then add your name to demand that University of Delaware’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, along with university administration, take action to ensure that Tania Roth is terminated in the fastest possible way!
Federally, Canada has the weakest laws in the western world for protecting animals used in research. Unlike in other countries, here are no federal laws, no inspectors,no public inspection reports, and no way for the public to effectively oversee the secretive activities of animal researchers.
Instead, there are only voluntary guidelines created and overseen by the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC),a non-profit with no legal authority. The CCAC can recommend that the federal granting agencies withdraw research funding from a non-compliant institution.
Add your name if you want to end her career, ASAP!
My comment: Quotation of the psychopath Tanja Roth from the website of university…
“We are interested in understanding how environmental factors, such as parenting behavior and social stress, can influence the development of behavior and psychiatric disorders. Our primary interests are centered on identifying epigenetic changes (i.e. DNA methylation) associated with early-life caregiving experiences, particularly maltreatment, and understanding their causal role in behavioral outcome”.
All of these psychopaths are funded by our tax dollars.
To live out their perverse tendencies towards animals.
It’s useless, non productive, repetitive torture that gives science a bad name and ads nothing whatever of value to the sum of human knowledge when a psychopath massacred animals to find out wich parental behavior causes mental disorders!!!
“There are no data that show you reach a point where you can’t change anything,” she said.
You are right Tania! so we will soon reach the point that your laboratory will shut down.
