Pictures – Bristol Zoo
It’s a girl !
A zoo in Bristol has announced the birth of a baby gorilla by a rare emergency caesarean.
It is thought to be the first time a newborn gorilla has survived in the UK following a caesarean birth, and is among just a handful of such cases worldwide.
The 11-day old Western lowland gorilla – a critically endangered species – was delivered by gynaecologist Professor David Cahill who has delivered hundreds of human babies by C-section, but never a gorilla.

Welcome to the World little lady !

Further update – 25/2/16.
We have now also submitted copies of the video to all
Scottish and Welsh MEP’s, as well as to all the English MEP’s.
We are flagging all messages sent so that we can check who is / is not reading our mail.
We really hope that other EU citizens / visitors to this site are also sending copies of the video link to their own MEP(s).
We need pressure to be put on from all areas of the EU, not just the UK and Netherlands.

23/2/16 – Today (so far) we have been doing a lot of follow up work with regard the new video showing the situation for EU animals going into Turkey (a non EU nation) for slaughter. View our post and link to the video via the following.
What have we done today:
Provided copies of the video and written links on the situation to:
– All South East England Members of the European Parliament (MEP’s)
– Supplied a copy of the video to the All Party Animal Welfare Group – http://www.apgaw.org/ – About:
The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Animal Welfare (APGAW) is an all-party group made up of MPs, Peers and associate animal welfare organisations or groups with a specific interest in this area. The aim of the Group is to promote and further the cause of animal welfare by all means available to the Parliaments at Westminster and in Europe. APGAW seeks to influence the development and introduction of effective wide-ranging legislation to improve welfare and also acts as a discussion forum of politicians and welfare experts to looks at areas of concern.
All-Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) have no formal place in the legislature unlike Select Committees, but are an effective way of bringing together parliamentarians and interested parties to start raising the profile on issues. APGAW chooses topics which are likely to be high profile to discuss and can then put forward ideas for improvements to the current Government. Members of the public are not able to attend APGAW meetings unless specifically invited by the Chairman but they can ask their MP to attend if they are concerned about an area of animal welfare. – http://www.apgaw.org/farm-animals

– Liaised with our friends at ‘Eyes on Animals’ http://www.eyesonanimals.com/ in the Netherlands to inform them of what we are doing to promote the video on the UK side of the North Sea.
That is this morning – this afternoon we will be supplying yet further links of the video to other UK MEP’s located around the country. Although we are in the South East of England and have already been in contact with all out MEP’s about this issue, it will do no harm to send out further copies (and express our views !) elsewhere across the country – especially as we have an In / Out EU referendum in June – we need to let the MEP’s know that we are not happy and that they need to do something or face the consequences in June. MEP’s really should only deal with concerns from their own regional constituents – hence why we have done the SE of England, where we live.
Thus we hope that may EU citizens located in many EU nations will now send a copy of the new video, and a request for action to stop the trade, to their own national / regional MEP’s.
Here are 2 links to help anyone find their own MEP’s, regardless of where they are in the EU:

Above – Lesley from EoA – Netherlands
Please write to them today. Here is a direct copy of the video link relating to EU animals stranded at the Turkish border – you must copy this link and attach it when writing to your MEP’s – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udReHkAumrY&feature=youtu.be
We are also more than happy if you wish to include some of our SAV post links with your letter. Here are the links that relate directly to this issue:
Thanks – SAV.

Mark and Lesley have been campaigners and friends in the fight against live animal exports for many years. Lesley is the founder and Director of ‘Eyes on Animals’ who are based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Mark and Lesley worked together to produce the 2010 EU report, part of which can be seen in the following:
They have campaigned against live animal exports for many years on several other occasions also.
In the above post, we (SAV) specifically mention the situation for EU animals which are crossing from the EU into Turkey. Some people may not believe us when we say that transporters are stuck on the border for several days and as a result, the animals suffer terribly or die – well now we hope that with the excellent new video from Lesley, actual visual evidence of the conditions and what we have been campaigning about are shown.
Watch the new ‘Eyes on Animals’ video by clicking on the following link – Note it shows extreme animal suffering – the fault of politicians:
Again, and as we have previously said, the EU system for the welfare of animals in transport is NOT working. Who wants to part of an international group of nations called the ‘EU’ which do not take action to prevent this suffering ?
All national political leaders are failing, MEP’s are failing; the EU Commissions are failing – in fact the whole bloody system called the ‘EU’ is failing.

PLEASE SHARE AND HELP IF YOU CAN!

Celeste’s loving elderly owner passed away four months ago and she had been living all alone at their once happy home ever since, spending her days waiting for someone who would never come back.

She was fed regularly by her owner’s nephew but she was shy, reserved and hardly ever left her hiding places behind the furniture. Eventually the apartment got emptied out and Celeste was trapped; her owner’s relatives couldn’t or didn’t want to keep her, so she arrived at the shelter the next day. She’s probably around eight years old, but she’s still unspayed and although she doesn’t look sick, she has bald patches on her back and sides. The vet says it’s caused by a combination of hormonal issues and stress and it should resolve itself when she gets spayed. She also has mammary gland hyperplasia, a benign condition in which an excessive amount of tissue grows, resulting in enlarged masses in the mammary glands; she needs to be spayed as soon as possible and she has to be tested for FIV and FeLV. For now Celeste’s living in a cage in a separate room, as she might not feel comfortable in the presence of other cats just yet and we are trying to spare her any further stress and upset. Despite being a little fearful, she is extremely affectionate and cuddly when she lets her guard down. Please, help us give Celeste the chance of living a long, happy and healthy life in which she’ll never be abandoned and alone again! https://www.youcaring.com/cat-shelter-felix-512392

Almost three and a half months ago our lovely Sneska (whose kidneys were failing) was taken off of her meds which couldn’t help her get healthier anyway. She has CKD and her kidneys have been in terrible shape for months, causing uremic stomatitis which made chewing very painful for her.

However, she clearly showed us she was living a miserable life being pricked every day, so we decided to let her spend whatever time she had left the way she wanted, with no meds and no fear. To everyone’s huge surprise, she is still holding on, her appetite is good and she doesn’t look any worse than at the beginning of November – on the contrary, she is adventurous, sparkly eyed and happy:) Maybe true contentment does come from within… https://www.youcaring.com/cat-shelter-felix-512392

22/2/16 – To further support our campaign, watch the new disturbing video of conditions for (EU) animals being transported to Turkey:
————————————————————————
Breaking news – 1800 hrs 21/2/16
In one of the great capital cities of the world, London Mayor (Boris Johnson) delivers massive blow to David Cameron and gives his full support to the campaign to EXIT from the EU.

————————
“Capitalism does not work when all have to eat.”
This is the EU’s applied philosophy.
And how does it work?
An EU Member is a capitalist who exploits the people after he was elected by exactly these people.
Financially all MEPs are part of the turbo-earners.
The basic salary of a deputy is 8021 euros per month.
After deduction of the EU tax remain of 6250 Euro.
If the European Parliament come together, a deputy gets for his participation in the consultations a daily allowance of 304 euros.
In order to rent an office and pay phone bills, he receives monthly 4299 Euro.
Every deputy receives each month for personal staff up to 21,209 euros!!.
Where does this money come from?
From indebted countries of the exploited, poor citizens.
The “bailout” run into millions of euros to poor countries, where every second citizen must live a month with the daily allowance of MEPs!!
After Greece is soon Portugal bankrupt, other countries are crying out for help.
There is no question whether the euro collapses – only when it’s done!
It is clear: the EU has failed.
And the animal welfare?
“we cannot do anything,” or “we are not responsible” we get in response to millions of global protests:
– against the Romanian Dog Mafia,
– against the bullfights the EU subsidize with our tax dollars continued and even against our will,
– against the criminal idiocy of animal experiments
– against illegal crap stalls in the slaughterhouses of member countries.
As for the horror animal transport in the EU, one can speak of a criminal indifference and complicity on the part of the EU, which serves only the interests of the meat mafia.
For the EU animals were always “either wool or meat”, the sheep has never been of interest.
We have tolerated the ignorance and the indifference from EU for many years. And paid with billions.
Now all these must be stopped.
No to exploitation of human beings and animals, no to incompetent politicians,
No to EU!
