Australia: The Commonwealth Games Happy, Dancing Closing Ceremony Does Not Fool Us – Australian Government – You Are Animal Abusers.

SAV Comment

We have just endured the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games from the Gold Coast.  All happy Australians singing and dancing; people from a nation which supports such an animal abusing industry and government.  We could not see anything to sing and dance about – the images of the livestock ships represent the real side that the Australian government want to keep closed.  So we give the video footage for you once again to see what Australia is really about.

Regarding our recent post – https://serbiananimalsvoice.com/2018/04/13/australia-the-real-horrors-of-live-exports-now-exposed-and-a-crap-aussie-government/

we now have the following update from Animals Australia.

—————————————————-

This time last week, only live exporters knew the horrors that await every sheep who boards their ships. Now, their secret’s out. And the world is watching.

Nearly 200,000 people added their voice to yours, demanding urgent action. Everyone from Bill Shorten to Israel’s First Lady are ‘shocked’ and ‘disturbed’ by the damning evidence. Calls to shut down the cruel live sheep trade — especially during the deadly northern summer — are escalating.

But Mark, our Government is about to condemn more animals to suffer on live export ships. Only this time, they’re doing it knowing how extreme their suffering will be.

Right now, the ship featured in last Sunday’s explosive 60 Minutes story is docked in Fremantle, Western Australia. The export company responsible for subjecting millions of animals to extreme, routine suffering is preparing to load tens of thousands more animals onto its ‘ship of shame.’

As it stands, it looks like the Australian Government is going to let them.

Not only that — some 85,000 animals have already left our shores on another ship this week. Outrageously, this exporter was allowed to pack the maximum number of animals possible into his vessel. We know what that looks like.

If you’re angry — you’re not alone.

The decision to allow a single animal to set foot onto any of these ships while the entire world is reeling from images of faeces-covered sheep cooking alive, panicked animals gasping for air, piles of dead and rotting bodies, and distressed animals unable to reach food or water … it’s unconscionable.

We cannot — and will not — watch on while more animals suffer.

As you read this, our campaign team is working around the clock to dial up the heat on this cruel trade. In the coming days, we’ll be unveiling what I promise you will be sheep exporters’ worst nightmare. And tonight, 60 Minutes will be airing explosive new footage of live export cruelty obtained by Animals Australia investigators.

Every time the Australian Government allows rich export companies to break laws and subject thousands of gentle animals to abuse … we’re going to turn up the spotlight a little brighter.

If you’re outraged that our Government is willing to let more animals languish on live export ships, you can let them know by:

  1. Calling the Prime Minister’s office on 02 9327 3988 (International callers: +61 2 9327 3988)

  2. Calling Australia’s Agriculture Minister, David Littleproud’s office: 02 6277 7630 (International callers: +61 2 6277 7630)

  3. Calling your MP’s office: click here for the number (Australian residents only)

Mark, this past week we’ve been utterly overwhelmed by your outpouring of support. The victims of this industry have the world on their side.

Thank you,

Lyn White AM

Torture at cattle shows in “Swissexpo” in Bulle : the cows still suffer.

The essentials in brief

The plump udder is at the center of dairy cow exhibitions. Owners extend the milking times and so that no milk drips, they glue the teats. A cow that has not been milked for too long suffers. A recent study shows that 23 percent of the cows that were examined at exhibitions showed udder edema.
To reduce animal suffering, new rules have been in place since January.
The nervousness of the breeders is great. As animal rights activists wanted to check compliance with the rules, it came to the Expo in Bulle to the melee.

A cow exhibition is a folk festival. Everybody wants to bring the most beautiful cow into the ring, polishes it, creams it, brings it to shine with sprays. For the breeders, a show cow is a happy animal: “Most cows here enjoy good care and have a good life,” says Holstein cow breeder Patrick Rüttimann. “Show cows are getting older, have a higher life expectancy and are healthier than the Swiss average.”

A cow with over-abundant udders suffers

But this year there is a sense of nervousness at the Expo Bulle exhibition: “If there are new rules, there will be some unrest,” says Pascal Monteleone, managing director of the Association of Holstein Breeders. “But I’m not worried, that’ll be fine.”

The reason for the nervousness are new rules that have been introduced to protect the cows. The focus is on the bulging udders of the dairy cows. It has been scientifically proven and internationally recognized:

a cow with an over-abundant udder is impaired in its health – it hardly eats anymore and can only laboriously go. If she is not milked, the pressure in the udder increases, and water accumulations, so-called edemas, can form in the udder.

23 percent of the examined cows with edema

As part of a study, Adrian Steiner, together with a team from the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Bern, examined exhibiting cows for edema.

The result: Whole 23 percent of the cows had a buildup of water in the udder.

This result now has consequences for the cow premieres: Since January, the two cows first placed at each competition must be led to the ultrasound immediately after the demonstration. Veterinarians examine their udders for edema. This method has been internationally recognized for a few days.

“This system of control and sanction is far too lenient” says Julika Fitzi Veterinarian at Swiss Animal Protection

Depending on the severity of the edema found (1 is the lightest, 3 the heaviest), this has consequences for the owner. 1st degree means the cow has to be relieved by four liters of milk. At grade 2 and grade 3 the cow has to be milked completely, she is disqualified from the competition. In addition, it may result in a criminal complaint for the owner.

“The cows are still tormented”

This control and sanction system is far too lenient, criticized Julika Fitzi, veterinarian at Swiss Animal Protection, STS and longtime observer of Milchkuhausstellungen: “The cows are still tormented to the point where they may accidentally because they are one of the two bestklassierten discovered Nothing will change the torment as such. For it is not tragic for a keeper to deduce four liters from a cow after the competition.

This control and sanctioning system is far too lenient, criticized Julika Fitzi, veterinarian at Swiss Animal Welfare, STS and longtime observer of dairy cow exhibitions:

“The cows are still tormented to the point where they happen to be random, because they are one of the two best-ranked, discovered. “The torture as such does not change anything. For it is not tragic for a keeper to deduce four liters from a cow after the competition.

“It is primarily about making it easier for the cow and not about punishing the breeder,” says Kaspar Jörger from the Federal Veterinary Office

The veterinarian does not understand why the owners only have to expect consequences from severity level 2. Kaspar Jörger of the Federal Veterinary Office defends the lack of consequences for severity 1: “At grade 1, the risk is too great that you can not get through in court, we did not want that.” The competent cantonal veterinary service could dispose of additional measures at its discretion. In addition, it is primarily about making the cow easier and not about punishing the breeder.

The new ultrasound method was used this year at the three major dairy cattle exhibitions: at the Animal and technology” in St. Gallen (the findings: 2x grade 1, 1x grade 2), at the “Swissexpo” in Lausanne and at the “Expo Bull” (7x grade 1, 3x higher). The organizers of “Swissexpo” in Bulle did not announce any figures to “Kassensturz” (Newspaper).

Teat with super glue «sealed»

Not to milk the cow for a long time is one method of breeders to fill the cow udder as bulging as possible, the second method is to glue the teats of the udder, so that no milk can flow from the bulging udders and give relief to the cows. The breeders call this “sealing”.

Glueing the teats with 8% collodion, an adhesive that is also used in medicine, is still allowed. Clearly, however, superglue is prohibited. Veterinarian Julika Fitzi says: “Nobody can check on the spot what is actually inside the Collodium containers. We also watched people use super glue. »

Fisticuffs in the exhibition stable

Fitzi and her team were particularly touched by the nervousness of the breeders: “When we were at the” Expo Bull “in the stable, people wanted to drive me away. There was a scuffle and came to blows. Thankfully, there were people around me who protected me and escorted me out. “

The organizers write that the animal rights activists were not accredited and did not report at the entrance. This violates their security principle. The responsible people would have done everything to calm the mood and to accompany the people to the exit.

Dead animals thrown overboard

One would think that animals arrive alive in a live export. Video footage released by the Australian news magazine 60 Minutes shows for the first time the complete range of maladministration in Australian living exports. The conditions on board are so severe that many animals starve to death, die of thirst, are trampled or succumb to the enormous heat on board. Their dead bodies are simply thrown into the sea. A brave crew member could no longer watch the conditions and documented on five different trips the horror that he had to watch every day.

Overcrowded ships and panting animals

Approximately 60,000 animals are loaded onto a ship for a trip from Australia to the Middle East. Due to the narrowness, many sheep do not have regular access to food and drink. Only the strongest make it to the troughs. All of them stand and lie for days in their own fecal matter and suffer from the enormous heat and high humidity on the ship. The pictures, which were taken in August 2017, show heavily panting animals with their tongues hanging out. In the midst of them decaying conspecifics who could no longer withstand the unbearable temperatures.

No protection for pregnant animals

Although pregnant animals are not allowed to be exported under Australian law, the eyewitness reports that some sheep had to give birth in these circumstances. The little ones often had no chance of survival, as they were lost in the crush their mothers or were trampled by the surrounding animals. The whistleblower also reports that crewmembers have been repeatedly called upon to slit the lambs’ throats. Over 2,400 animals were dead at the end of the journey.

Illegal trade

The conditions on board contradict the Australian animal welfare laws on several levels and are actually illegal.

When Minister David Littleproud was confronted with the footage, he merely stammered that Australia had the highest animal welfare standards in the world for live exports. But for the first time pictures prove the law violations, which increases the pressure on the Australian Ministry of Agriculture.

The Minister of Agriculture promised to hold those responsible to account and prompted preliminary investigations. In addition, the shipment of other animals, by the export company “Emanuel Exports” on which the recordings were created, prevented for the time being. A first and important step towards countering a complete ban on cruel livestock exports.

————————————————————————–

For 60 years, cruelty to animals on live export ships has been kept secret.

There’s no ‘nice’ way to send animals halfway around the world to be killed for meat.

A live sheep isn’t ‘cargo’. He breathes. He thinks. He can suffer.  This simple fact may be lost on wealthy live export companies. But it wasn’t lost on one concerned crew member who was horrified by the suffering he witnessed on live export voyages…

This footage exposes an industry acting unlawfully. It reveals what millions of gentle animals have endured for decades, in secret.

And with it — a chance to end the cruelty.

More than 100,000 litres of urine and faeces accumulates on a typical live export ship every day sheep are on board. The ship won’t be ‘washed out’ until after they’ve disembarked.

As the northern summer kicks in, on-board conditions can turn catastrophic.

When temperatures soar — and predictably they do —  weeks of untreated waste buildup ‘melts’ into a thick, deadly soup. Any animal needing to lie down to rest risks being buried in excrement.

Corrosive ammonia chokes the air and burns the eyes and throats of those on board. Distressed animals rapidly overheat. Their hearts race as they gasp for oxygen. Trapped in what is essentially a ‘giant oven’, extremely heat stressed animals collapse before  literally being cooked alive. Other heat stressed sheep may die slowly over the following days. Those who survive a ‘heat event’ will continue to suffer in this putrid bog, now littered with the decaying bodies of their dead companions.

Imagine being born on a live export ship. The noisy vibrations the only sound you’ll ever hear. The inescapable stench of faeces the only air you’ll ever breathe…

These babies aren’t supposed to be born at all. Live export companies are legally required to ensure all ewes are pregnancy tested by ultrasound and certified not pregnant. And yet, heavily pregnant ewes are being shipped for slaughter like every other animal. Only — they’ll endure the trauma of live export while going into labour and giving birth.

Very few lambs born on a live export ship will ever see the outside world. Many will be  trampled, lose their mothers, or be killed by distressed crew members who are routinely ordered to slit their throats.

All this suffering is in aide of one thing: making wealthy live export companies even wealthier. And as it turns out, ‘business as usual’ on one of these ships to the Middle East isn’t just cruel, in many ways it’s illegal.

Rescue of dog tangled in soccer net.

Tangled up from head to toe, this precious little boy was absolutely baking in the sun, caught in a sports net. The kids who called us for his rescue were too afraid of dogs to cut the rope themselves. But their fears were so unfounded-this little cutypie couldn’t be more affectionate and loving. It turned out he also had the beginnings of mange, so we scooped him up and took him back for a medicated bath and some extra hugs.

Please donate, so that a predicament doesn’t become a tragedy

Terror turned into trust: injured puppy rescued

Felix knew one thing. If you scream as loud as you can, it might save your life. And it worked! People heard this devastated little sweetheart and called us to the rescue without even knowing what was wrong with the weeping puppy.

It turned out he had really deep wounds on his hind leg–maybe caused by a car accident. We scooped him up and got him pain medicine as soon as possible, then sedated him in order to clean and stitch his wounds. This little angel was terrified by people when he arrived. But here, his pain subsided, gentle hands touched him and he found love. It only took 2 weeks for the stitches to be removed-the hair where he’d been shaved hadn’t even grown back yet. And something else happened to him from his hospitalization. Felix grew happy.

Please donate so that cries for help, get help.

Rope almost severed donkey’s foot

The rope almost killed him…

Laying in terrible pain, this sweet donkey’s leg was covered in blood. He was struck down by the cruelty of an ignorant, negligent owner who tied two of his legs together to keep him from running away. In his struggle to free himself, the rope cut through his flesh and muscle. His complete recovery is a marvel, and because of his lion-hearted courage, we named this sweetheart Leon.

You can be a guardian angel for an abused animal. Please donate.

Animals help us know the difference between what is authentic, and what is fake, or phoney, or artifice. When an animal looks at us he or she tells us the whole truth, and nothing but the truth of their feeling. And their truths are sweet and simple. The desire for a soft word, a kind touch, a tasty morsel. The desire to be free to wander and choose for themselves what might or might not happen, during the next 20 minutes. If you’ve ever reached to touch the face of a dog or a donkey or horse who jerks back her head in retreat, she’s not shunning you. She’s simply revealing the fact–the plain fact–that someone before you touched her in a way that hurt her, frightened her. And as we all know–when an animal lets us approach, get close, touch kindly, whisper softly, there’s a truth in that allowance; he or she is saying something like this: I accept you as you are. For me, you are perfect as you are. Whenever you help an animal your kindness–for him or her–is all there is.

With our deepest thanks for all you do and are for animals,

Stop the Bloodshed

This week marked the start of Canada’s brutal commercial seal hunt, when hunters beat baby seals to death with clubs, skin the animals for their fur and leave the carcasses to rot on the blood-stained ice. Most of the helpless seals are younger than 3 months old.

Global sales of seal products have plummeted, with seal fur banned in the US, EU, Russia, India and more.

Yet Canada’s government keeps the slaughter going with millions of dollars in subsidies. It’s time to stop the killing.

TAKE ACTION

  • Then, email Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at justin.trudeau@parl.gc.ca and urge him to stop the bloodshed

Sample Letter

Dear Prime Minister Trudeau,

It’s time to end Canada’s brutal commercial seal hunt and spare innocent baby seals from being beaten and shot to death for profit. By continuing to subsidize commercial sealers, the Canadian government is directly contributing to animal cruelty and tarnishing the entire country’s image to the rest of the world. I urge you to show that Canada is a compassionate and forward-thinking nation by cutting all funding and banning the commercial seal hunt for good.

Warning – Disturbing footage – slaughterhouse.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=47&v=GqKnCoDPdqw

Imagine watching other humans’ throats being cut while they scream in agony and convulse—all while standing in a line knowing that your turn is coming up.

Pigs at this slaughterhouse in Cambodia were left to witness and listen to the violent slaughter of other pigs—sometimes for six hours—before enduring the same terrifying and painful death.

They can’t escape. They can’t stop it from happening.

But you can help.

The pigs subjected to this systematic torture and slaughter are helpless to do anything about it, but you’re not. You can help them simply by not eating animals, because buying meat, eggs, and dairy “products” is what keeps factory farms and slaughterhouses running.

Look at this breaking investigation into a Cambodian slaughterhouse to see for yourself why millions of people are choosing not to support these cruel industries anymore.

EU: Animal Welfare on Transportation discussed in the European Parliament.

Animal Welfare on Transportation

discussed in the European Parliament!

A written question was asked in the

European Parliament regarding safeguarding

animal welfare around transport of animals.

Commissioner Andriukaitis, in charge of

this dossier, explained that currently their

priority is to enforce the existing legislation.

He reminded if animals are transported

from the EU to third countries, the journey

logs must indicate the whole journey both

within the EU until the final exit point in

the third country, including all resting,

transfer and exit points.

He also added that since June 2017 the

Commission receives from the Bulgarian

authorities detailed monthly reports on

the status of animal welfare of animals leaving

the EU to Turkey.

It is very promising to hear that these issues

are being discussed repeatedly, and we are

very proud of our work in Animal Transport Guides.

Please feel free, to forward this mail to everyone who may be interested in the ‘Animal Transport Guides’ project!

All the best,
The ATG – Project

Thousands of animals are daily transported

within Europe and to third countries for

slaughter, fattening and breeding. Transport

conditions during these journeys vary a lot.

To support the industry (farmers, drivers e.g.)

to improve animal welfare, a consortium

consisting of 16 partners (from 10 EU countries,

all proactive in the area of livestock transport)

has started to develop ‘Guides to Good and

Best Practice’ as a DG Sante pilot project.

The Guides will involve guidelines for cattle,

horses, pigs, poultry and sheep transport,

with the aim to finish by the end of 2018.
