Further Update – 17/12/15:
Dear Mark,
Wolves in four states got a reprieve Tuesday night with news that a congressional rider that would have stripped federal protections from wolves was not included in the final budget.
This is huge — the move would have been a disaster, ending Endangered Species Act protection in Wyoming, Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin — pushing aside decades of work to recover wolves in these regions. The Center for Biological Diversity has been on the front lines in the fight against these anti-wildlife measures since the very beginning, and we never let up.
Thanks to all our supporters who made calls, sent letters and raised their voices for wolves. Along with you, we’ll savor this victory as the year comes to close, but know that the fight for wolves will continue in 2016.
The same vicious attitudes that drove the potential budget riders to end wolf protections will be back at the local, state and federal levels — and we’ll be there to fight back every hour and every day. We’ll need you by our side to ensure that wolves will not be stalked, shot down and trapped in this coming year.
Wolf hunts are still legal in Idaho and Montana — hundreds have died so far this winter.
Government agencies, like the rogue “Wildlife Services,” are still killing far too many wolves at the behest of special interests. And the wolf-haters in Congress will return, trying next year to again strip wolf protections.
This is a moment of celebration, but it’s also a moment to re-commit to the fight for wolf protection. Right now a passionate wildlife advocate has made just such a commitment — she will match every dollar if you donate now to the Endangered Species Defense Fund.
We’ll use your matched gift to take on new threats in 2016. With the wolf-haters pushing back from California to New Mexico to the shores of the Great Lakes, we won’t stop until every wolf is safe from needless suffering and death.
As this victory shows, with your help, we can win for wolves. For the wild,
Kierán Suckling
Executive Director Center for Biological Diversity @KieranSuckling

Mark,
I have very good news to share with you today.
Had the omnibus bill moved forward with those provisions intact, wolves in Wyoming, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin would have again been stripped of protections and these states would likely have set hunting and even trapping seasons.
Your support and actions were instrumental in keeping these dangerous proposals from becoming law. Together, we delivered tens-of-thousands of emails, phone calls, tweets, and in-person visits to decision makers to impress upon them the crucial need to keep wolves protected under the Endangered Species Act.
Thank you for everything that you have done for wolves and other endangered and threatened species.
We will continue to update you if Congress takes up similar bills, and hope you will help us keep up the momentum to protect wolves.
Until then, we can celebrate this success for these wolves today.
Sincerely,
Leda Huta
Executive Director

Give an unadopted shelter dog a Christmas dinner
Ladies & Gents,
At Christmas time, when we are so preoccupied with purchasing gifts for family and loved ones, often we forget about those who have nobody but us to help, our four legged friends in shelters. When we’re so busy organising the perfect family Christmas, sometimes it just slips our mind that our furries need to eat too. We just want to remind you, that in the spirit of the season, the season of giving, how truly desperately, we need to keep our dogs fed and warm. At Christmas, during the coldest point in the year, our dogs need more food for fuel just to keep warm.
Please, we are begging you, don’t forget about our rescues. They need our help. If you could donate the cost of just one meal for our dogs over the Christmas period, you will help more than you could imagine.
We have more than 35 dogs and 3 cats under our care and many of them are fighting different health issues or require special medicine food. Like renal food for our 14 year old mix breed old girl Ava, or royal canine baby milk for the litter of five babies we found thrown by the road while they were still blind. All of them will look at us for Christmas dinner and with your help we will succeed. Because at Christmas time we must not forget to count our blessings and share a little love with those unfortunate ones.

SAV Comment – 30 years of abusing baby primates for what ? – what have they learnt that they could not get from monitoring human babies and their mothers. How do human women; probably mothers themselves, ever get involved in being able to do this ? – would they do it to their children ? – More taxpayers money being wasted on wasters. These people are sick in the head – a very warped head !

HUGE: NIH ending decades-long baby-monkey torture program!
“Infants are caged with their mothers, who are chemically sedated, have their nipples taped over, and are placed in a car seat. The terrified babies scream and cry, climbing onto and frantically shaking their unresponsive mothers”.
Hi Mark!
There’s some great news for primates today!
Following an intensive year-long PETA campaign, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has announced that it’s ending its cruel psychological experiments on baby monkeys after more than 30 years!
The laboratory is being closed down, and the lead experimenter will no longer be involved in any experiments on animals.
You probably remember that last fall, PETA released disturbing video footage showing NIH’s cruel and archaic maternal-deprivation experiments in which infant monkeys were torn away from their mothers at birth to traumatize them, terrorized with loud sounds and fake snakes, intimidated by human experimenters, addicted to alcohol, and forced to live alone in tiny cages to worsen their psychological distress. The trauma inflicted on the infants by NIH psychologically and physically crippled many of them for life.
PETA held countless protests and worked with scientists—including Dr. Jane Goodall, who noted that the experiments were inhumane and not applicable to humans and that superior, human-based research tools are available—as well as with thousands of young people who completed creative missions to tell NIH that these tests were heartless. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Because of you, no more infant monkeys will be bred to suffer from depression, torn from their mothers, or experimented on at NIH.
Thank you for everything you’ve done to help animals!
Stay loud!
Rachelle Owen – Senior Manager Youth Campaigns
PETA.

Please crosspost to the moon and back !
Please support the vast majority of the British people and sign this petition.
Brits are sick to death of seeing animals killed in this way because certain ‘religions’ say that it has to be done that way. If people of these religions want to live in the UK / Europe; then they follow UK / European law, which says that all animals must be stunned prior to slaughter.
Take action against a gutless government who are out of touch with the real world and real people in the UK. Cameron has a lot to answer for !
Please watch the video with the petition and decide for yourself – is this the way to treat an animal because religion says so ?

Petition link:
Petition wording:
The British people are against halal slaughter.
Under British Law, animals must be stunned before slaughter, and not killed in full view of other animals.
Halal slaughter is a cruel, barbaric way to slaughter an animal. Denmark, Sweden, Germany Norway and the Netherlands have banned halal slaughter, and as an animal loving nation, we are petitioning for the same to happen here. We are angry at the food industry for pandering to the minority group that want halal foods, and we want you to stand up and set an example that halal is wrong.
It is completely unnecessary because the people who eat this food can say a prayer over the food which enables them to eat it.
We ask you to respect the wishes of the British people who are against halal and remove this from our foods. The Danish PM said animal rights have to come above religious rights, and we believe that in the year 2015, this is true.

You certainly do not !
Go and live somewhere else – get out of the UK
– useless hypocrite ! – can we suggest –

Warm hearts beat the cold

Trying to improve our winter mood 😉

It’s getting cold at night…

Hello, world! 🙂

How many of you are in this photo?
All of the kitties in the shelter are safe and loved for life, but they do need help; especially to keep them both warm and fed during these cold winter months.
Thank you !
