The BBC is to capitalise on the impact of Blue Planet II by launching a campaign to help people to use less plastic.
The initiative, called Plastics Watch, has the backing of Sir David Attenborough (photo above), who said that he had been astonished by the response to his series in which the carnage caused by plastic in the oceans was highlighted.
The campaign will “provide information and advice to positively enable the British public to help reduce plastic pollution”.
