Are farmers victims?

“Murderers”, “animal torturers”, “exploiters”, “criminals”, “you should be slaughtered” – farmers who keep livestock are confronted with hate mailings on Facebook. This is shown by a study by the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna.

According to study author Christian Dürnberger from the Ethics of Human-Animal Relations Department of the Messerli Research Institute of Vetmeduni, farmers who present their work in social networks are accused of “forcing and rape cows”.

Again and again there are Holocaust comparisons and personal criticisms, insults or threats, even to their children. Literal citations are, for example, “Your children should also be fried” or “Your children should die of cancer”!

Farmers are increasingly being challenged to find new ways of communicating, especially in the sense of a more direct dialogue with consumers and citizens.

My comment:  So I propose a rescue operation for the farmers: they take over the role of the animals:

which they rape
which they hold in dark stables for life
which they separate from their children when they are born,
which they do not treat when they get sick and old,
which they send as little babies in the transports ….

On this way, the farmers will not be the victims anymore!

Farmers Liberation!

If farmers feel that the “Shitstorm” is based on false facts, then they would not mind a role reversal.

British soldier killed by elephant during anti-poaching operation in Malawi.

Not something that is widely known, but British forces have been working in Africa for quite a while to help protect endangered wildlife from poachers. It is terrible to hear this news today.

British soldier killed by elephant during anti-poaching operation in Malawi

British soldier has been killed during an anti-poaching operation in Malawi, the MoD has announced.

Guardsman Mathew Talbot of The 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, was killed whilst on counter poaching operations in the African country on May 5, 2019.

The Telegraph understands Gdsm Talbot was killed by an elephant and that there were no other injuries to local nationals or other British soldiers.

Defence Secretary Penny Mordaunt said: “I was deeply saddened to hear of the death of Guardsman Mathew Talbot, who died while carrying out vital counter-poaching work in Malawi.

British soldiers are deployed across Africa helping in the fight against illegal wildlife poaching. Animals under particular threat include elephants, rhinos and lions.

Malawi’s elephant population is estimated to have halved from 4,000 in the 1980s to 2,000 in 2015.

The deployments to Nkhotakota and Majete Wildlife Reserves in the country started last May, following a successful pilot scheme in Liwonde National Park in 2017.

British troops are training rangers in tracking, general infantry skills and bushcraft, doubling the number of rangers mentored by soldiers in Malawi to 120.

Training has been funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ Illegal Wildlife Trade Challenge Fund and was boosted by nearly £1 million of extra funding late last year.

Part of the extra funding went to the Wildlife Crimes Investigations and Intelligence Unit, an initiative that has improved intelligence gathering markedly. Last year 1000 kgs of ivory were seized and 114 arrests made, a ten-fold increase in detentions compared to 2015.

The betrayal of the EU to the animals

The EU has betrayed the “European idea” for democracy, solidarity and peace: the euro and banking crisis, migration crisis, foreign policy, economic policy … all this is in the EU’s account and we could even call it a heresy
But the worst betrayal of the EU is the betrayal of the animals.

On 14.02.2019, the majority of the EU Parliament rejected significant improvements for animal transport within the EU and in third countries.

A black day for the animals.

Also proposed improvements for torture conditions in transports in non-EU countries, such as Egypt or Turkey, were not accepted.

The transport business requires 1.4 billion animals per year, of which 4 million “livestock” are transported from the EU to third countries every year: cattle, pigs, sheep and hens are these “slaughter animals”, who suffer cruelly in the transport – despite legal EU regulations.

Polish non-attached MEP Dobromir Sośnierz (MEP of the reactionary party Wolność / KORWIN) said in his speech to the European Commission, “Animals do not pay taxes and therefore we should not talk about them!”

We want to remind him that animals pay with their lives for people to make money. No EU- law protects them as persons, they apply as raw materials.

We only ask ourselves with horror, why should we pay the salary of such a mindless person.

EU Elections May 2019 – MEP’s have their say in the hundreds; but in the end, if the Commissioner says ‘No’, then No it is. Worth voting ?

EU Elections May 2019 – MEP’s have their say in the hundreds; but in the end, if the Commissioner says ‘No’, then No it is. Worth voting ?

Every year millions of animals are transported live from the EU for slaughter in the Middle East and North Africa. The journeys last hundreds of hours and they face brutal treatment on arrival at their final destination.

Every year, over three million animals are exported from the European Union to NON-EU countries. Hundreds of thousands are destined for countries such as Russia, Turkey, The Middle East and North Africa. Investigations have uncovered animals being exported live for brutal slaughter in countries across the Middle East, and even as far away as Singapore.

Despite these countries having no laws that protect animals from brutal treatment, and though the European Commission and livestock exporting Member States have long been made fully aware of the extreme cruelty such animals are being subjected to, both have been actively seeking to increase the export of EU animals.

The following video allows you to see just what happens to the tiny calves exported by Cassidy and McCreery from Ewing’s staging post at Dunbretton farm, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, via Ramsgate (England) on the Export ship ‘Joline’ (2 pictures below) owned and operated by J. Onderwater the Dutchman.  It also shows Irish calves exported directly from Ireland via Sea Link ferries to Cherbourg in France.

Yet another ‘animal issue’ that the EU wants to wipe it hands of.

Why The EU Fails Animals – EU Elections May 23-26 2019; Is It Worth It ?

5/5/19 – Today Venus and I have discussed Serbia and the EU Parliamentary elections which will take place between 23-26/5/19. http://www.europarl.europa.eu/unitedkingdom/en/european-elections/european_elections.html

We will be publishing more on the EU and its failures for animal welfare in the coming weeks. We will also link in to Serbia’s wish to become an EU member state; but at the moment I would like you to see and read Venus’s excellent post on Serbia which she published a few days ago – https://worldanimalsvoice.com/2019/05/04/serbia-land-of-collective-animal-torment/

We have experience with Serbia and animal ‘welfare’ going back to 2005 when we formed ‘Serbian Animals Voice’ (SAV. Here is the link to SAV and the specific ‘Serbian’ sector – https://serbiananimalsvoice.com/category/serbia-central-serbia-capital-belgrade-and-serbiavojvodina-capital-novi-sad/

Here is the link to Serbian animals and the failures by the Serbian government to enforce it own legislation – https://serbiananimalsvoice.com/about-serbian-animals/

Officially, to become an EU member state, any nation wishing to join the EU must show (under the Copenhagen Agreement) that it IS enforcing its own national ‘Rules of Law’. Serbia does not do this with animal welfare; thus we consider that Serbia should NOT be allowed to join the EU, as it is non-compliant. More on this about the law in the link https://serbiananimalsvoice.com/about-serbian-animals/

But we all know that existing EU member states such as Romania are not enforcing EU legislation anyway. Despite numerous reports and visits by MEP’s to Romania to document their terrible animal welfare status, the EU simply walks away from the data. It is the same with EU wide live animal transport legislation; the EU simply does not accept any of the hard evidence presented to them showing that EU rules on live animal transport are NOT being enforced.

We will go deeper into these issues over the next few weeks, before the EU elections; where ‘EU citizens’ supposedly have their vote on the EU system and the people (MEP’s) that represent them. We know from bee killing pesticides through to animal transport, the voice of the ‘EU man’ is not really listened to; but the voice of lobbyists for the ‘Mafia’s’ which seem to run the EU are always listened to. They have the money to lobby to get what they want; so they always win.

For now, I leave you with a few more links for your review; which show the ‘EU system’ for animal welfare does not work:
