Faroe Islands: Negligent killing of 6 whales

walen Massaker Islandpg

Six whales were killed on August 17th on the island of Suduroy (Faroe Islands). The animals were stranded or in the shallow water on Sandvik Beach.

No attempts were made to save the animals or help them back into the open sea.

And I mean …When human animals are in need, refusing to help is a criminal offense.
But this only applies to our fellow species.
It does not apply to the other animal species, they have no rights, so we have decided it.

The whales are left in their tragic fate, and many of the native human animals have collected some Judas Silver for the cut meat.

This is the glaring example of human superiority.

The whales, like all animals in the world, from mussels to primates, have no rights, we have determined it thus, we human animals, those who think and act in a fascist way.

And that’s why so many natives of the Faroe Islands people, with the intellectual potential of a bookkeeper, try to justify this negligent murder with outrageous comments on the in.fo link above.

PMU mares – dirty million dollar business

In 600 PMU farms in the USA and Canada, around 75,000 mares live cooped up on factory farms.

The estrogen-rich urine of pregnant mares (PMU = Pregnant Mare Urine) is a lucrative source of income for the 600 PMU animal factories.

The 75,000 mares in these PMU animal factories spend the majority of their long pregnancies tied up in small boxes, connected 24 hours a day to a device that collects their urine. The mares can barely move, lie down comfortably, roll on their side or lay their head on the ground and rest.

Many mares have to be slaughtered because they become lame as a result of the lack of exercise.

Suffering for menopause

Pregnant mares have to stand in very narrow stall compartments of about one and a half meters wide and two meters high to collect their urine. Between the third and ninth month of pregnancy, the urine of mares contains a particularly high amount of estrogens.

A rubber collecting container is attached to the vulva of each mare and collects the urine. The urine flows through a hose into a plastic canister. The mares are tied up in the stable compartments and can hardly move.

The mares have to stand there for up to six months. The urine collection device causes inflammation, chafing, and open injuries. Due to the permanent standing, the mares suffer from severe pain and even bone changes.

Thousands of horses around the world are tortured for the pharmaceutical industry.

Hormones, so-called “conjugated estrogens”, are extracted from their urine for the treatment of symptoms during and after the menopause.  Most of the approximately 75,000 foals that are born each year are taken from their mother gone after four months.

The foals are sold at meat dealers or fattened on the farm and later brought to the slaughterhouse

My comment: A few years ago, most of the production farms were still in Canada and the United States. There are now only a few left there. A large part of the production was relocated to other countries with presumably even lower control frameworks, for example to China or India.

Hormone preparations made from mare urine such as “Premarin” have been on the market since 1942, although the equal effectiveness of herbal substances and various alternative treatment methods have been known for many years.

Since then, pharmaceutical companies have made billions in sales.
When it became known in 2002 that the drug “Premarin” significantly increased the risk of cancer, heart attacks and strokes in women, demand initially collapsed.
In 2012, it was also determined that taking PMU preparations can promote breast cancer.

The patent holder of this active ingredient, Pfizer, the world’s second-largest pharmaceutical company, has responded very cleverly to public concerns and is back in the PMU business thanks to a new drug.

“Duavive” (in the USA “Duavee”) is the name of the “magic drug” that is supposed to prevent osteoporosis in addition to menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and sleep disorders.

In truth, however, it is just a PMU drug with the same composition as Premarin.

In Germany, the preparation is sold under the name “Presomen”. Online providers even sell the “good old” Premarin without a prescription. The mare urine business is still worthwhile for the pharmaceutical industry.

But women who need something like this can do without PMU-containing medication since PMU preparations are referred to as “conjugated estrogens” on the package insert. When hormone treatment is essential, there are numerous preparations that can do without PMU.

Put your doctor under pressure to prescribe preparations that are not produced with the suffering of other mothers.

Mallorca: The cat torturers of MANACOR

GRISITO was one of those cats that live on the street, of those that are part of our landscape, of those that are ignored by the institutions, the same ones that should take care of and protect them.

The same ones that have legal responsibility for them. He didn’t even have a name, now, yes, Grisito.

(translated text of the petition) :

He was one more neighbor of Manacor, a noble cat whose only crime was living on the street and looking for life as he could.

The street is hard, seldom friendly, and almost always cruel to the most defenseless, but the street, let’s not forget, we are all.

At dawn on Saturday, August 9, 2020, he had the misfortune to run into some young residents of Manacor, who, bored with his bland life, tortured him savagely to death, with a brutal disregard for his life, the nameless cat, the invisible one, nobody’s, every one, also a neighbor of Manacor by right, suffered until his death.

They are accused, among other things, of removing one eye from the animal with their fingers and then killing it.

A neighbor in the area did not look the other way and thanks to that, 2 of the alleged perpetrators were arrested and the next day they were released pending trial (!!!)

The town of Manacor expresses its most energetic rejection of these events, we want Grisito’s cruel death not to go unpunished, we want our cat to be honored with a change in that obsolete Law, that they are never again considered objects, if not sentient beings because Grisito felt …

He felt fear and pain until his death. For this reason, we demand a review of the penal code to apply improvements in it. We also demand improvements in all municipal ordinances. We demand that the authorities fulfill their competences just as we demand effective awareness campaigns.

We are all gray, a society cannot shelter, normalize and protect such despicable acts towards a defenseless being, facts like this are the beginning of a threat to the integrity of all, we must tackle the root problem.

That is why we ask that these “beings” be applied to the maximum legal penalty and do justice for Grisito. His death cannot be in vain … but the beginning of a change.

May their suffering help other “Grisitos” to get rights and laws that protect them so as not to end their days in the worst way inside a garbage container.

Fly high, little angel, free and fearless.

Please sign the Petition: https://www.change.org/p/direcci%C3%B3n-general-de-los-derechos-de-los-animales-justicia-para-grisito

And I mean…From the PACMA website:  These sadistic people caught this cat in the wee hours of the morning, tied it up, and tortured it for fun, gouging out one eye amid the desperate howls of the animal.

They beat him and threw him several times to the ground until he ended his life, leaving his corpse in the street as if it were a loot”.

Bild

(the photos are from twitter)

(translated from Spanish): “Now @damiaaalexandre and her killer friend and cat torturer @joancarralero try with whole stories to run over and run away, to avoid facing the fact that they are shits who do not deserve the air they breathe. You are garbage”.

The data are personal but not secret.
We know who they are because they are part of the Partido Popular (PP) lists, if it weren’t for that, we would be cursing them without knowing their identity since the laws protect the criminal …

That is, “thanks” to the PP they are fully identified … After this, they will no longer go on any list of any political party, they are already on the BLACKLIST.

What right to privacy can have a human carbage? Which is the right to the integrity of criminals and what is the priority of right to the save of innocents???
This is to protect criminals, it has no other name.

The name, lineage, profession, and photo of thieves, killers, animal and/or human abusers, and other slags must always be published.

Since justice does nothing, let it be society itself that can judge and know who is his neighbor.

Several animalistic associations have called a demonstration in rejection of the death of ‘Grisito’, in Manacor. The protest, which was originally scheduled for August 22, will finally take place on September 5, at 7:00 p.m., in the Plaza Ramon Llull in Manacor.

Everyone has to go!

More than 41,000 signatures, on the way to 50,000 and that in just one week. The Mallorca parties take place without them!
The news appeared in the BILD newspaper in Germany. Manacor becomes famous thanks to these two killers.

The cat torturers from MANACOR!

England: ‘No evidence was found of breaches to legal requirements or Red Tractor standards.” – watchthe video and decide !

England

17/8 and 19/8 – we have attempted to make Ocado send us a formal response to the investigations by Animal Equality – see

https://worldanimalsvoice.com/2020/08/17/uk-undercover-filming-at-eight-8-moy-park-farms-reveals-hundreds-of-intensive-farmed-birds-suffering-agonising-deaths-each-day/

and until this afternoon (19/8) they claimed they had the wrong e mail address to send info to us.  Hmm, ok, benefit of doubt gives.

We attempted contact by phone with McDonalds, but they only allow e mail questions – so we asked the question as to what they were doing re Moy Park.  We will publish the Mc response if we ever get one; but assume it will be very much in the same context of Ocado below.

Here below is the formal update on Moy Park by Ocado.

As you can see in their statement a Red Tractor spokesman says :

No evidence was found of breaches to legal requirements or Red Tractor standards.

We have also just spoken (a great conversation) with Animal Equality (AE) who are based here in London.  Like us, they view this as typical very good ‘all is well’ yukspeak when actually you can see from the video footage that all is not well.

In consultation with AE, we are publishing e mail and telephone numbers should anyone wish to take this further.  This info is available to anyone who has web access – and as such the info is available to all the public.

Please phone or e mail about this issue if you wish – it is important for the ‘welfare’ of animals in the UK – to show up those who are trying to supress cruelty.

Note:  WE have underlined part of the statement below.

ANIMAL WELFARE – UPDATE ON MOY PARK

 August 12, 2020

At Ocado we carry out regular audits of all our suppliers to ensure the welfare of livestock is managed to the highest standards. Following the allegations raised in March, we worked closely with Moy Park to fully investigate the matter. Independent investigations were also carried out at the time by Red Tractor, Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) and Trading Standards.

A Red Tractor spokesperson said: “We take animal welfare very seriously. All the farms in the footage were investigated by us and stakeholder partners including their vet, the APHA and trading standards to ensure there was a comprehensive account of farm practices. No evidence was found of breaches to legal requirements or Red Tractor standards.

At Ocado we are committed to the highest levels of animal welfare and are satisfied that this footage is not reflective of the practices at Moy Park which is supported by evidence from veterinary experts.

All our meat and dairy products meet the Red Tractor farm assurance standards (or the international equivalent) as a minimum. And we know the subject of animal welfare matters significantly to all our customers so we continue to monitor this situation closely.

Solidarity

The more we succeed in remaining in solidarity in the animal rights movement, the stronger we become.
In our fight for the other animals, we are exposed to many dangers.
Only when we stick together and help each other can we stay strong and be successful.

The animals know that.
We should learn from them.

USA: USDA Sued In Federal Court For Failing To Provide “Humane” Handling Of Chickens & Turkeys At Slaughter.

USDA Sued In Federal Court For Failing To Provide “Humane” Handling Of Chickens & Turkeys At Slaughter

https://worldanimalnews.com/usda-sued-in-federal-court-after-shocking-evidence-of-inhumane-handling-of-chickens-turkeys-in-slaughterhouses-was-exposed/

The Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) and Farm Sanctuary recently sued the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in federal court for failing to require “humane“ handling of chickens at slaughter, resulting in adulterated (i.e., damaged or contaminated) meat that violates the Poultry Products Inspection Act (PPIA).

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York by Harvard Law School’s new Animal Law & Policy Clinic, which is representing the plaintiff organizations. It calls on the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) to develop regulations governing the handling of chickens, turkeys, and other birds at federally inspected slaughter facilities to address the systematic mistreatment of these animals, which can compromise food safety and meat quality.

“Each year, 9 billion chickens and turkeys are slaughtered in the United States, yet the USDA does virtually nothing to prevent pain and suffering of the birds at slaughter,” said Dena Jones, farm animal program director for AWI in a statement.

Periodic reviews of USDA enforcement records by AWI reveal that, every year, government inspectors document tens of thousands of birds suffering excruciating deaths before they even reach the slaughter line. Thousands of birds die, sometimes in a single incident, from causes that are unacceptable under the PPIA. Birds in slaughter plants were also subjected to intentional acts of cruelty by workers, including being kicked, hit, mutilated, driven over, or dumped onto conveyor belts with visibly broken legs and wings.

Sadly, these reported incidents barely scratch the surface, given that USDA inspectors observe the handling of only a very small percentage of the birds slaughtered. Inspectors at one-third of all poultry plants, in fact, generated no humane handling records whatsoever during a recent three-year period.

As it stands, the industry is able to forego humane handling practices with little, if any, consequences. Currently, the only action USDA inspectors can take when they observe mistreatment of birds is to issue a memorandum describing the incident. Even when establishments engage in repeated or intentional acts, the USDA does nothing to stop it. The USDA is aware that its failure to require humane handling of birds at slaughter results in the adulteration of millions of bird carcasses annually, but the department turns a blind eye.

In one case, nearly 10,000 birds froze to death after being transported and held for at least 22 hours in unprotected trucks during extreme cold at a Butterfield Foods slaughterhouse in Minnesota. In another incident, a Jennie-O slaughter plant in Minnesota was cited 10 times in just four months when birds were seriously injured by malfunctioning equipment that caused large areas of their skin to be torn, resulting in hemorrhaging and muscle damage. The Southern Hens facility in Mississippi was cited 10 times in less than a month because workers were tossing crates with live birds inside.

This widespread abuse of birds at slaughter could be prevented if the USDA adopted humane handling regulations. In 2013, AWI and Farm Sanctuary petitioned the FSIS to use the authority granted to it by Congress to codify chicken handling standards into enforceable regulations.

After a six-year delay, during which time federal inspectors documented more than 1,000 incidents of chicken mistreatment, the FSIS denied the petition. At the same time, it denied a second petition from AWI asking the agency to address the problem of birds being abandoned for extended periods in the holding areas of slaughter plants — often in extreme heat or cold.

Despite the USDA’s own evidence identifying the mistreatment of birds as a cause of adulterated chicken products, the FSIS claimed it had no jurisdiction to enforce humane handling of birds at slaughter, and maintained that the current approach of voluntary compliance is adequate.

“Chickens and other birds suffer egregious cruelty at U.S. slaughterhouses,” said Gene Baur, President and Co-founder of Farm Sanctuary. “The USDA has failed to provide basic humane consideration, allowing callous abuse and irresponsible killing methods that threaten our health and humanity, and are outside the bounds of acceptable conduct in a society that purports to care about compassion.”

The plaintiffs are represented by Katherine Meyer, Director of Harvard’s Animal Law & Policy Clinic, with the assistance of several law students who helped draft the complaint.

Please remember that the best thing we all can do to end the suffering of chickens, turkeys, and other animals is to simply leave them off our plates.

North Koreans ‘forced to give up pet dogs for restaurant meat amid food shortages’

The move by leader Kim Jong Un is apparently aimed at appeasing public discontent amid a dire economic situation, a report says.

https://news.sky.com/story/north-koreans-forced-to-give-up-pet-dogs-for-restaurant-meat-amid-food-shortages-12051212

People in North Korea are reportedly being forced to give up their pet dogs so they can be used as dog meat for restaurants.

The move by the leader Kim Jong Un is thought to be aimed at appeasing rising discontent among the public amid a dire economic situation in the secretive country, including food shortages.

Pet dogs are thought to be owned mostly by the elite and wealthy in the capital Pyongyang and are seen by authorities a symbol of capitalist “decadence”, while ordinary people have pigs and other livestock.

Mr Kim issued a ban on pet ownership in July, denouncing it as “a tainted trend by bourgeois ideology”, according to South Korea’s Chosun Ilbo newspaper, citing a source.

The source said: “Authorities have identified households with pet dogs and are forcing them to give them up or forcefully confiscating them and putting them down.”

Some of the dogs are being sent to state-run zoos or sold to dog meat restaurants, the source added.

Dog meat is traditionally popular in China and on the Korean Peninsula, although consumption is on the decline in South Korea.

Pet owners are “cursing Kim Jong Un behind his back,” but there is little they can do, according to the source.

They said: “Ordinary people raise pigs and livestock on their porches, but high-ranking officials and the wealthy own pet dogs, which stoked some resentment.”

Pet ownership used to be viewed as western decadence, but attitudes appear to have relaxed when the North hosted the World Festival of Youth and Students in 1989.

After that, the Pyongyang elite started flaunting expensive dogs as status symbols, the Chosun Ilbo reported.

Now the latest move, seen by one defector as more severe than previous clampdowns, is being hailed by authorities as protecting the country against capitalist “decadence”.
