Dear Mark,
It is with a heavy heart that I let you know that our driftnet bill did not make it out of the Senate Appropriations Committee and will not become law this year.
Chairman Lara did not allow the bill to go to a vote by the committee. Sixty percent of the bills in the suspense file did not make it out of the Appropriations Committee.
Although this bill ultimately did not succeed in becoming law, we are not giving up on saving thousands of ocean animals from being injured and killed by driftnets. We will be evaluating next steps, and we will be reaching out to you again in the future to get these deadly nets out of the waters off California’s coast.
Thank you for all the work you did bringing this issue to the attention of the public and to lawmakers. Our work was strengthened by your caring and involvement.
The bill was covered in the San Diego Union Tribune, the Sacramento Bee, the Orange County Register and many other publications.
Supporters sent more than 5,000 e-mails to Senator Lara’s office in a matter of a few days, and nearly 27,000 people signed a petition that was distributed to the California Senate.
Legislators received hundreds of calls in support of the bill.
More than 30 organizations signed onto our letter in support of the bill. Over 250 scientists signed onto a letter to stop using driftnets.
Our fight is not over!

Thank you All for your help and Support.
I will be travelling to Nairobi tomorrow morning to attend the regional Pan African Animal Welfare Alliance meeting. I am not sure to be able to be very reactive as i will spend 48 hours in airports at departure and 48 hours back. I will be back to Marrakech late the 4th of June.
I have put Susan the Founder of the Jarjeer Mules Foundation. She is a wonderfull person.

1./ This petition is about to help more than Sultan, if you check on the fb page of Tommy at Jarjeer Mules Foundation, you will find that we are also talking about 22 horses, 12 camels, 4 ponies, 3 donkeys and 5 dogs, starved by the owner.
2./ All the updates are in this page. It is a very serious British charitie. Even the Spana Marrakech has tried to save the animals when there where in the road during days without food nor water.
3./ The Spana Marrakech pushed and they got the Municipality paper to take them. The night before the owner came to take them to a private place. The Moroccan law unfortunately can not be applied, anymore as the animals are supposed to be no more abandoned. It means that you can starve and torture your animals as there are yours or in your private place.
We need as much signatures as possible, to 1st save all the animals, and push to implement new legislation.

USA: Tiger With Terminal Cancer Used As Gimmick By University At Football Games !!

And another important petition – you would think that universities would know better and be more intelligent than to do things like this – abusing animals year after year – obviously not this one !
Intelligent ?? – That’s what universities claim; but in this case we make an exception.
Petition wording:
Target: F. King Alexander, Chancellor of Louisiana State University
Goal: End the use of live tigers as mascots at sporting events.
For the past few years, Louisiana State University (LSU) has been bringing out a live, caged tiger to its football games. The university has gone through six tigers, and its current tiger has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. While the college claims to be providing Mike world class care, this should take place in a sanctuary, not a cage.
Holding wild animals captive is detrimental to their physical and mental health. These animals should be running through the trees, enjoying the sunshine, and engaging in natural behaviors. Instead, these tigers have been carted around for entertainment, confined in small cages, and forced to endure the large, loud crowds of university football games.
It is cruel to continue treating the tiger in this manner. He deserves to have some peace and happiness for his remaining time on earth. Sign this petition and demand LSU retire its tiger and no longer use live animals as mascots.

For years, your university has been using live, caged tigers as the school’s mascot. In the time that you have used live animals, LSU has gone through six tigers. The current tiger has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Geese after feathers plucked for down at a feather farm in China.
PETA and PETA Asia have uncovered shocking cruelty to geese connected with so-called “responsible” down and feather suppliers. The Responsible Down Standard actually allows certified companies to deal in feathers that are live-plucked in addition to the ones that aren’t.
Workers were seen ripping geese’s feathers out while they were fully conscious, leaving open, bloody wounds. Some geese struggled and cried out, while others were paralyzed with fear. Workers pinned them down by stepping on their delicate wings and necks and tightly binding their feet together.
PETA dug deeper and found that the farms that are live-plucking birds or dealing in live-plucked feathers sell to “Non Live-Plucked Products Guarantee” or “Responsible Down Standard” companies, the same companies that agree to “ensure humane treatment of animals.” One buyer even bragged about misleading customers and live-plucking in secret. These certified companies supply down to clothing and bedding companies such as Eddie Bauer, Lands’ End, and Hollander Sleep Products.
With your help, we can push retailers to remove down from their shelves and put an end to this cruelty. All you have to do is take action today. Thank you.

Eurosceptics are popular with voters across Europe.
That’s why Brussels wants to destroy them
The European Union is much like the Blob, the malignant movie monster that consumes everything in its path. It can’t be stopped and grows larger and larger. The remorseless push by Europe’s elite to develop the EU is oddly similar, as they refuse to let anything – especially ordinary voters – stand in their way.
There are 500 million people who live in the EU, most of them sane, rational adults able to think for themselves and make their own decisions.
They have a pesky habit of annoying EU chiefs by voting for people who don’t quite agree with the EU way of doing things. Democracy is a mere formality for the European project.
Think back to 2005, when Jean-Claude Juncker predicted, correctly, that Europe would ignore France’s rejection of the EU constitution in a national referendum. “If it’s a Yes, we will say ‘on we go’, and if it’s a No we will say ‘we continue’,” he insisted breezily.
Despite 55 per cent of voters saying No, Mr Juncker decided the referendum had actually been an endorsement of further European integration. “If we were to add up all the votes of the people who wanted “more Europe” as a yes , then I think we would have had a yes vote,” he insisted.
It’s little surprise that someone with Mr Juncker’s mindset would rise to the top of the European establishment become President of the European Commission.
Every time voters have dared to question the European project, he has taken it as a personal affront. Few can forget Mr Juncker’s lecture to the Greek people last year as they considered whether to accept the punitive terms of a European bail-out, telling them that a No vote would be “suicide” and that he felt “betrayed” by their failure to take “enough account of my personal efforts”.
He was left “sad” last month by Dutch people’s decision to reject a potential deal with Ukraine, but his spokesman insisted it would have “no impact” on the agreement, which has been seen as the first step on a road towards welcoming it into the European Union.
And now Britain’s referendum on whether to leave the European Union has sparked a new level of sanctimony from the worthies in Brussels. Europe’s leaders have queued up to beg Britain to stay in the bloc and warn them about how terrible it will be if they leave.
Mr Juncker has led the charge, telling the British people that they will be treated as “deserters” and part of a “third country” if they vote to break away from the EU.
Boris Johnson’s emergence as Britain’s most popular Eurosceptic has enraged the elites, who can’t bear the thought that the people would flock to someone who doesn’t share their goals.
The Eurocrats have tried to keep their seething hatred for such figures under control during the referendum campaign – as hard as it may be to believe – but their scorn for ordinary voters and the politicians they support bubbled to the surface last night in the form of a tweet from Mr Juncker’s most senior aide.
The hegemony of the powerful countries of the European Union is not possible without cooperation.
This is the EU’s real basis.
What is equated in nature as “Survival of the fittest” with evolutionary success, practice some states of the EU for the safe continuation of their power over the weak.
But the EU is a German weapon.
What Hitler did not manage in the Second World War with tanks, has Merkel managed with the banks in the EU.
It may be that the German-French friendship ensures a lot of power and exploitation within the EU countries.
But in free trade, economic policies, subsidies, antitrust, fiscal policy – found throughout Berlin more common with London than with almost any other EU nation.
It may sound obvious, but without London is the Brussels negotiating table lonely.
And dangerous for the successful model of Merkel.
A model based on the exploitation, the debt, the enslavement of not enough strong countries for survival.
The tactics for this purpose has been and is still the same: deterrence tactics:
If London decides to exit, it would be a “Third World Shop”, a “deserter”!
Thus threatens the Luxembourg Juncker, the so-called “master of backstairs”!!
Juncker, the banker from the financial oasis, Merkels faithful servant, Juncker the millions-wage-MEP in the EU, Juncker the chief of the puppet state!
I think we will get to the truth, if we believe the contrary from what the EU parliamentarians tell us!
And I’m almost sure that the UK will send out a clear “No” in June against the “Brotherhood of the EU-barons”.

Not a single sponsor has stepped up for these three little gingers, one tabby and one little black cutie. Not a single contribution towards their living expenses, the costs of their food and vet care, not a thing. Five out of six orphaned babies are still nameless.
It’s not their fault they were chucked out into the street when they were maybe 10 days old at most, they are not to blame that they never had the chance to be nursed and grow by their mother’s side, they didn’t choose to be born in the first place and had no say in being thrown out like rubbish and left to die. I certainly wasn’t exactly eager to spend countless nights without sleep, bottle feeding them and fighting for their lives.
They still have a fungal infection that’s being treated and they have to live in a cage for now; they can’t be let out as they would rapidly spread ringworm among all of the other cats.
Their little faces are messy and dirty after eating, but how is it possible that they don’t appeal to anyone? Why does it seem they are so unimportant and not worthy of love and attention? We need only five more sponsors for these itty bitty babies!
Are these nice five people really this rare and impossible to find?

Lunja is young and beautiful lab mix.
Unfortunately he was rejected, together with his sister Maza, from the other family members after death of owner. They are urgently removed to pension before dog catcher take them.
Can you help to keep them safe?

Meda is lab mix,about 15 years old and he is a dog with special needs. This boy has problem with ossification,has enlarged heart,treated of decubitus and demodex.Also he has chronic bronchitis as a result of untreated pneumonia. The front legs are very bad. He takes glucosamine and vitamins.
He lived on the street many years. Pension is his only home and he is safe there. Please help him to stay safe. Needed to pay for may and for few days for next month. Pension with food for two months,glucosamine,vitamins and all bank and PayPal fees is 195 e.
