The African elephants in the Wuppertal Zoo are abused for commercial purposes.
In order to generate additional income, Wuppertal Zoo offers guided tours behind the scenes and interactions with the elephants.
The elephants are forced to take part in photoshoots, elephant rides, weddings, and other events.
They are made compliant with the elephant hook. The elephants only obey because they are afraid of punishment.
Zoo director Arne Lawrenz announced in January 2019 that he would end the use of the elephant hook and switch elephant husbandry to “protected contact” after renovation work, but without giving a specific schedule.
So far, however, the elephants are still exposed to violence and defenseless. Since then, three more baby elephants have been born.
Gus, Tsavo, and Kimana now expect the same fate as their fellows.

Facit: The Wuppertal Zoo abuses elephants for special events such as weddings and guided tours behind the scenes. Among other things, the animals are forcibly forced to pose for photos with visitors or to carry visitors on their backs.
Please appeal to the mayor, the members of the city council, and the zoo to work for an end to elephant abuse.

And I mean…Why are the elephants still being beaten at Wuppertal Zoo?
In order to generate more income, the Wuppertal Zoo uses African elephants as a living backdrop for photos with stupid zoo visitors and forces the animals to take part in weddings and other events. When keeping in “direct contact”, the elephant keepers stab and hit the animals with elephant hooks in their sensitive skin areas to make them compliant.
Already in childhood, the elephants are subjugated in this way so that from an early age they associate the hook with pain and obey out of fear.
Wuppertal Zoo even offers weddings in the elephant house. At wedding shoots, the elephants have to show tricks and pose with the bridal couple.
In March 2020 the baby elephant Tsavo was born as a new prisoner at the zoo.
It is uncertain how long the newly born Tsavo will grow up in “direct contact” in the Wuppertal Zoo and whether he will also be made compliant with the elephant hook, like the elephant child Tuffi.
The next female elephant is also expecting offspring in the Wuppertal Zoo. Tika was artificially fertilized so that she too could give birth to another “cute” baby elephant that would attract as many visitors as possible.
Does this unborn animal child also expect blows with the elephant hook? Or will it be separated from his family like Tsavo’s siblings and passed on to other zoos?
Both are to be expected because this zoo is run by people who have degraded these sensitive animals to living photo backdrops and gymnastics equipment and only want to earn money with them.
And because there are still mindless parents who believe that a visit to the zoo increases their children’s education and knowledge about animals.
My best regards to all, Venus
