I don’t mean that getting to know gorillas or orangutans requires an encounter with a living specimen.
Every documentary film conveys more knowledge and arouses more empathy than a visit to the zoo ever could.
Zoos are and will remain prisons where animals are locked up for life and displayed for the pleasure of a paying public.
